Other one seems to be filling up fast!

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!
If you have any referral links then please post on this thread <a class="break-all" href="https://_[[//https//www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Via Groupon you can currently get the degusta advent calendar for £29.74 at the moment.

Thank you for this. I’ve been debating about getting it for my parents but at that price I went for it.

One I always recommend is a second hand frog or Isla. They're such good bikes! Check their sites for measurements and check Facebook and eBay, they come up loads.

Has anyone seen a Lakeland code? I’ve got a Blue light card so saw 10% off £60 but I don’t quite want to spend that much!

This takes 15% off but I'm not sure if there's a minimum spend.

@Ohmeohmyohme what age are the tinc calendars good for? DD will be (a young) 11 in January am wondering if they’d be suitable for her?

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 28/09/2025 20:16

@MaybeMrsthis will be my third year making my DD’s beauty advent calendars as there is so much in many of them that wouldn’t get used. I try to get them in at £120 each or less and grab bargains where I can like BYOMA 3for2 sets in boots to split up, the previous ASOS bargain Lanaige lip glazes & Sundae shower foam, the Benefit mini deal etc plus some Patchology masks, mighty patches and a voucher for a manicure.

Elpheba · 28/09/2025 20:19

Thanks @hayal, worked perfectly!

Definitely try marketplace / other local selling sites for an Islabike (possibly over budget for a good condition one), Frog or Squish.
Also double check the size you need - 20inch could be right but I just got an Islabike 20 large for my to-be 5 year old so may need 22 or 24 for 8yo.

Ohmeohmyohme · 28/09/2025 20:31

Carrie76 It’s so hard isn’t it! Mine are 10 and they will love them. If you scroll through the pictures, it shows the contents if that helps?

SugarCookieMonster · 28/09/2025 12:53

I haven’t tried it before but I have used some of their other products which have done exactly as promised (the gel mold remover is phenomenal).
I used to use commands everywhere but I’ve noticed in the last year they have become terrible. We’ve had 2 canvas hooks that have fallen and small hooks that ripped off paint in the last year. Fingers crossed for this stuff!

I got some last year, it is really good, but it doesn't weather well so it constantly needs replacing if you use it outside, regardless of their claims

ApplesinmyPocket · 28/09/2025 20:39

VeruccaSalty · 28/09/2025 17:43

Are the Jurassic Jim fossil advents good? Do the fossils just come individually wrapped and then you can put them in your own calendars?

Verucca (love the name!) I had this last year, and I thought it was really really good. I had the gemstones one too. They came in small red cardboard 'envelopes' with a number and a Christmas sticker on - very attractive, but not in calendar formation IYSWIM.

Think I even got a fossilised shark tooth in a little plastic box inside one envelope, and dinosaur bone - I was very pleased.

AuntieDen · 28/09/2025 20:41

Have you considered renting a bicycle instead? The Bike Club have brands like Frog and Forme and deliver across the UK I believe.

I went into cancel after several months and they halved my subscription to £7 per month.

I have a few couples to buy for and have just come across these:
Pott'd Date Night Kits

Wondering if anyone has ever used them and would recommend? Or not? They have some discounts atm and multi buy offers. Also a referral scheme so I am going to pop my referral code on referrals thread in case useful to anyone else.

Other ideas for couples in their 20s welcome! Thanks 👍

Thanks for the bike advice. I am off to look now. He's only 126cm tall, so 20inch seems OK. In his head he wants a bike with loads of gears but im not sure its a good idea. He is more into stunts and racing around on half pipes (in our garden and the park) than long distances so im thinking more of a bmx style without gears? Hope he won't be disappointed by that. What a minefield this is

MamaK19 · 28/09/2025 20:55

Thanks all ordered!! I’m such a sheep 🐑 🤣
