The Christmas Bargain Thread No 2 - The one where it all went very fast

1000 replies

RainbowZebraWarrior · 05/09/2025 18:32

Posting on behalf of @Reastie as I'm guessing she's busy and the last thread was almost full.

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread <a class="break-all" href="https://_[[//https//www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Thank you for the Kawaii shop and bookmark recommendations. Unfortunately Kenji don't retail online - will be forced to have a day trip to Westfield boo 😉
@FallingIntoAutumn have you been stung for import tax ordering from Blippo? I just got caught out ordering a bag from Aus so I'm feeling cautious

oriel2013 · 07/09/2025 20:55

Thanks for the 3 for £20 Argos lego suggestion. I picked a harry potter, minecraft and a unicorn creator set today. Harry potter car would have been £13 alone.

Any recommendations for an iron?

Also any inline skates on offer anywhere? Thanks!

Does anyone know what i could get my aoon to be 8 year old son, he's very bright, a science engineering type, hands on and loves the outdoors (hes a very committed Beaver but wannabe Scout) but we're facing months of more indoor time than he'd like - he has two younger siblings so we cant always be out in the pouring rain, cold. We're not into screens and I dont want him plonked in front of tv this winter - halthough even then he opts to watch videos of den building and bear grylls!
I thought about a whittling kit maybe..
Thanks

Just checked last years order and I didn’t last year. Not sure if anything’s changed though

When mine was that age they were obsessed with these science kits

marble runs and magnet tiles were also popular

Someone on the last thread mentioned the scouting shop having good deals- I don’t know if that’s still the case

Cuwins · 07/09/2025 21:48

This is a lovely small business, close to where I live which means I get to beat the postage costs! Highly recommend

bluesky · 07/09/2025 21:52

Tk maxx have great reductions on Neom, including the small pod for oils

I was excited to see that because I love their stuff but literally everything I looked at online was only available in a size 6 or 8!

weareallqueens · 07/09/2025 22:15

Clinton’s (in store) had lots of their cuddly food toys reduced. Fries, sandwiches, etc. Cant remember the brand but they were Jellycat style. DD was with me, but might try to nip back.

This is lovely to hear. I love their catalogues, you can tell it’s all been really well thought out when it’s been picked.

This is a great set if you can get it cheaper than 60. It was a favourite of my three very different children

Any suggestions for really good quality art supplies (particularly paper/pencils) for a 21 year old?

The strathmore spiral bound pads are great, either toned grey or toned tan,
add in a pack of faber castell graphite pencils, the pack of 6 in the tin is so handy.
If the budget allows then I’d also suggest a Tombow pencil eraser and a pack of blending stumps

Thanks for posting this. We have loads of salt rock stuff, it’s great value and nicely made. The sale had passed me by, so thank you

@GAJLY babipur clearance usually has a few posh baby bits for very good prices but my go to gift for new babies are Aden and Anaïs muslins which are included in the boots offers. Gorgeous colours and very soft.

BionicEar · 07/09/2025 23:06

If you are near an Aldi, have a rummage in their special buy section.

Found some small LEGO kits suitable for socking fillers (under £3 each). Minecraft, Animal Crossing, Super Mario and Bluey were what were on offer in my store.

If you have a child into Pokemon there were various Pokemon items such as figures in Pokemon balls, cushions, blankets, sticker books and cuddly toys.

I’d highly recommend a make do kit if you can get a plentiful supply of cardboard boxes.

hugsandpugs · 07/09/2025 23:44

I had a look at the salt rock sale mentioned above….

only managed to find a pair of green cargos in my size as everything else seems to just be size 6 left and there’s no way I’m fitting into those 🤣

FREESHIPCART
gives free delivery and might work out as saving more money than the 10% off unless your placing a big order
