The Christmas Bargain Thread No 2 - The one where it all went very fast

Posting on behalf of @Reastie as I'm guessing she's busy and the last thread was almost full.

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread <a class="break-all" href="https://_[[//https//www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Any suggestions for really good quality art supplies (particularly paper/pencils) for a 21 year old?

beetr00 · 06/09/2025 12:44

Boots many half price gifts and reduced (some still spendy) beauty advent etc..

random123456 · 06/09/2025 13:11

Thanks for the fiorelli reminder, just picked up a belt bag for <£10 delivered which will be perfect for my passport & phone when travelling (I flap massively about losing them!!)

For those who like a cocktail, Boxtails are doing 50% off this weekend with AUTUMN50
the pouches could be good for adult stockings…. or just general drinking

Hey

how long was this experience for? Debating it for my 2 who will be 3&6 in Jan. x

I think the afternoon tea was an hour and a half, ish. You sit down at your booked table, they bring your drinks and treats, colouring activities on the table, elves milling about in between tables… then the big man himself comes out and the kids go and sit on bean bags/ fluffy cushions and he and the elves tell a story. Afterwards each table goes up to have their own photos and meet and greet with FC, when they receive their wrapped gift. It’s worth it imho and it’s high quality.

QueenOfWeeds · 06/09/2025 13:58

John Lewis grotto people, we went 2 years ago and I was really disappointed that you couldn’t take your own photos but had to purchase theirs. It was overexposed but also unsurprisingly £££, so you might want to factor that in to Christmas budgeting. It wasn’t clearly communicated at all - hopefully that’s changed.

What was the NEOM well being bundle? Always worth checking QVC for NEOM deals

It was on Look Fantastic and it was the Wellbeing pod with four oils for £80. You could then apply a née customer discount code or a referral code to bring it down to £70 ish

I can't see the Christmas events despite being a member 😕

I don't want to spend premium beauty advent calendar prices so I've bought this to be split up. Does anyone have any recommendations for similar gifts sets that won't cost the earth please?

IRL bargain at BandM- this Lego type make kitchen appliances set was £5. I think the size when made might be okay for Barbie’s or Chelsea’s at least

Not sure if this site has been mentioned yet but https://boopbeauty.co.uk/ is really good for discounted beauty stuff. There are some good stocking fillers on there - just did an order for my daughters and saved a lot.

If you are looking for Neom diffusers, tkmaxx have some on their site - not with oils but still a good deal: https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/search?st=Diffuser&sort=&facets=&page=0

@oneborneverydecade Try Next for beauty boxes, some fantastic savings.

GameOfJones · 06/09/2025 17:32

Just been in store and Rituals have 25% off body scrubs and a few other nice bits. Also a free shower foam and silk scarf if you spend £50.

IlovePond · 06/09/2025 18:34

Not for Xmas and not really a bargain, but Starbucks have some lovely Halloween metal beakers with straws and hot/cold drinks flasks priced £21.99. Makes a change to see some of their lovely and good quality drinkware in this country, (usually it’s just plastic goods and the odd mug), so I thought I would share.

I was tempted to buy one but I already have a lot of flasks!

They also had some neutral ones in black and also in grey that were not covered in pumpkins.

Ughy · 06/09/2025 18:55

@QueenOfWeeds oh no, what was the rest of the experience like, aside from the photo issue?

PinballWizened · 06/09/2025 19:08

Thanks to PP for the Aldi tip.
Went in today and scored a space hopper and bath crayons for 99p each and a unicorn colouring book for 49p.
The waterproof cameras £1.99 ea
Long sleeve plain pjs for DH £7.99
Could have picked up more bargains but not enough normal shopping to hide it all under.

hugsandpugs · 06/09/2025 19:11

Can anyone recommend a cheap but efficient hair waver tool?

QueenOfWeeds · 06/09/2025 19:26

@Ughy they we’re running nearly an hour late due to “technical issues” (I assume printing photos, because there was no tech involved anywhere else), so we were asked to go and kill time and come back later. In John Lewis. On Oxford Street. On a Sunday in December. With a toddler. Obviously not their fault per se, but it wasn’t a nice start. Then the elf trail felt v v budget (DD was obviously too little to really benefit from it). Father Christmas himself was fabulous and made me cry (in a good way), and the present was lovely. But the overall experience was pretty pants to be honest, and felt quite budget. Like I say, hopefully it’s improved, but I would have been irritated if we were on a tight budget and then been told we had to buy their rubbish photo or have no photo at all.

Does anyone's Haul order not show an estimated date? Like this all my previous orders have shown but this doesn't? It just shows the ordered date

Jacques of London have an extra 30% off their sale items. Code is BIRTHDAY30. They do beautiful wooden toys that are really well packaged.

Yes, my Haul order shows an estimated delivery date. It's my first one, though. I also have to admit that I forgot it was longer delivery dates, so ordered as if I was doing a Prime order. My dates are between this coming Friday and the following Monday. I really need a few of the items for a craft fair next Saturday so I'm hoping I hit lucky with the Friday delivery. If not, that's my own fault.

@oneborneverydecade check out cult beauty edits. Usually priced at around £40 but you will get a discount code when you download the app or as a first time user. I also second Next as there are some beauty boxes that are really well pierced at the moment. You could also have a look on ASOS who do beauty boxes from around £18. They also have some discounts on beauty at the moment.
