The Christmas Bargain Thread No 2 - The one where it all went very fast

RainbowZebraWarrior · 05/09/2025 18:32

Posting on behalf of @Reastie as I'm guessing she's busy and the last thread was almost full.

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread <a class="break-all" href="https://_[[//https//www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Me again a out HolliesLollies. For those that ordered are your drink stirrers in date?

The 3 I bought are best before 3/9/25. Do whilst still ok to use I can't gift them. I dont really want to complain as it seems churlish when they were so cheap.

The super cheap ones do specify on the page that they have a BB date of September, assume that is why they are on offer x

Hi. Has anyone got any suggestions for stocking fillers for adult men that are either actually useful or can be used up?

We're short of space a lot of the time and I'm looking for some small gifts for my partner and my son (son is living in shared student house so not much room there either).

Most of the smaller gift ideas I see each year for men seem to be novelty items that are fun for about a minute but then just end up never being looked at again

Thanks all. It was much easier when my son was little! They don't really NEED stocking gifts buts it's a bit of a tradition here.

There is a whole thread on adult stocking fillers that might be useful for you. It’s called something like ‘adult stocking fillers all year round’

fruitfly3 · 10/09/2025 09:29

@Flubadubba this is such a brilliant recommendation - my DC is bird/animal mad but we haven’t got this so thank you very much. This thread is incredible x

Thanks. So basically with 30 minutes or so before the order ends, when everyone already sleeping, they make it available. They clearly didn't want anyone to have it at that price so why bother putting it in the offer pages!

I agree, it seems they made it available just to fulfil any legalities for the promotion.

PerformativeBewilderment · 10/09/2025 09:43

@ScarlettSunset for us, stocking fillers are an ‘upgrade’ to everyday items, whatever that means for us / you.
So it could be something as silly as a fancy tube of toothpaste, or a condiment that they like (chili sauces always seem to go down well).
The personalised Heinz and Dairy Milk products are a good bet too

sillygoof · 10/09/2025 10:00

@ScarlettSunset i tend to go for a scratchcard and things like chocolate, biscuits, sweets, a can of drink. The last two years I’ve got boxes of 4 Guylian chocs.

Sale on at Emma Bridgwater linked to their 40 year anniversary!

@ScarlettSunseteveryone in my house is getting a colour coded charger in their stocking this year as I am bored of the fighting over chargers!

This looks like a good bargain for Elemis superfood face mask on home bargains (online only) £7:99 reduced from £34 for 75ml https://home.bargains/product/c24a5c08-b054-4d29-9842-fd695a0627b6/elemis-superfood-purity-face-mask-75ml?qid=8b43e51662fa4650690aab00b46a2c7a

There’s some bare minerals products greatly reduced too! Complexion rescue tinted moisturiser £6.99 rrp £33

ScarlettSunset · 10/09/2025 10:16

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions for grown up men's stocking fillers. I will look further into those . And I will check out the adult stocking fillers thread too. I had no idea that existed!

FallingIntoAutumn · 10/09/2025 10:18

@ScarlettSunset
we have the same issue.
so like the previous poster it’s the same, upgrades of stuff. Like flavoured toothpastes (hi smile, the fluoride content is awful so it’s a treat). Power banks, charging leads, aftershave/ perfume minis, shower gels, stoke ketchups and tiptree jams. As well as unusual sweets. Maltesers, jelly tots etc in a box. Better ice scrapers, air fresheners.
I also do old magazines to do with their interests

Just ordered a Nikura waterless mini diffuser which is currently on offer with 3x essential oils (sleep or classic set) for £35 down from £45. I got free delivery and an extra 10% off signing up for the newsletter. https://nikura.com/products/misti-waterless-diffuser

After ordering it, I got another offer to buy a second or third mini diffuser set for £25 (time limited). I didn’t want anymore but handy to know if anyone wants to order a couple.

I had a terrible experience with Degusta last year - the advent calendar arrived late (after 1 December!), despite being ordered in October. Then, there was red goo running out of it - a jar had clearly cracked. I understand these things happened - but it ruined about 4 doors of the advent calendar as product had dripped (and all over my carpet but that's another story!).

I contacted Degusta and they didn't reply for 10 days - then asked for photos (which I had already sent with my first email) and then, when I did, I got more radio silence from them. The phone number on their website was disconnected and nobody was picking up emails.

Eventually I had to do a chargeback through my credit card. The concept and product is lovely - but the customer service was beyond dreadful.

I also had to raise a charge back last year. It's put me off ordering this year, I don't want to take the risk that they won't deliver again. Such a shame because 2023 was great

I haven't decided if I'm going to order but the 15% off for subscribers stacks with this offer so it's £29.75 and shipping still showing as free.

it looks lovely but does it actually get hot enough to melt the candle?

Yes, bought this last year for my teen daughter and it works really well.

My bargain bracelet arrived today and super happy with it. 🥰 came in a little gift bag with a gift card too if it’s for a gift! Amazing that it was only £1 including p&p 👌

nothingtoseehereatall · 10/09/2025 11:44

@ScarlettSunset I do similar to others with upgrade type things, but keeping it entirely to food and drink. So basically just posh crisps, nice choccy/sweets and a bottle of wine. Which has the excellent quality of also filling most of the stocking by itself (but always still being welcomed - obviously sub in a posh juice or non-alcoholic version if required!) That way you know it's all going to get happily used/ eaten/ drunk with no need for space!

hby9628 · 10/09/2025 11:44

@hugsandpugsthanks for that update. I ordered one of these for my niece. Hope she likes it
