The Christmas Bargain Thread No 2 - The one where it all went very fast

Posting on behalf of @Reastie as I'm guessing she's busy and the last thread was almost full.

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread <a class="break-all" href="https://_[[//https//www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

I did 'Pamper Bags' I'm a crafter so I made my bags.
Face pack, foot Pack, fluffy socks, bar of chocolate and a book.
Mix and match for male / female

They are amazing! We are beekeepers and also make soaps and candles and tend to gift similar 'goody bags'. I appreciate that not everyone has the time to make things, but it's always appreciated by friends and teachers.

Bit of a random one, but I want to give everyone in my team a bottle of olive oil. Grateful if anyone could let me know if they spot any (ideally nice looking) bottles/cans of olive oil that seem like good value!

Try Sous Chef or Citizens of Soil!

Its not my area of expertise but I screenshot this to buy for family. who like the oil.

Thank you.
I love to make as many gifts as possible. Not everyone appreciates hand made though.

These are great and have been mentioned a few times.

This is a new release out this month and £3.99 instead of £7.99

Quick a good choice for a big age range - just done with more care as they get older.

if anyone is struggling for filler presents, there are a load of gift bundles here

There are a few different ones but for all the people looking for gifts for tween boys there are ugly dolls and fugglers (euch) which might appeal and there is also a competition to win the christmas one - there's a link in the main navigation.

Jaques also has a link to get notified when their wooden train set drops and the first 100 people get 35% off - but I suspect they will have already reached 100 as i'm working backwards through my emails!

it looks lovely but does it actually get hot enough to melt the candle?

Yep! Melts it nice and evenly too

I need 8 of the same gift - budget around a fiver each - for my team at work. Like the idea of something a bit unusual. All women in 40s and 50s.
So far all I can think of is an initial mug with a hot chocolate sachet.
Any ideas gratefully received!

What about fiction book (offer like works or whsmith) wrapped brown paper so they title, genre is a surprise with teabag, coffee maybe bookmark. Look up blind date with a book for ideas

I agree with this. I bought from them years ago (and posted the original £7.99 bargain ebay seconds a few years ago) but I don't buy from them any more. I now use Tazzies on ebay, who I'm pretty sure used to be one of their glove makers. They still stated until recently on their website that the gloves were all hand made by people in the Cornwall area and that's where Tazzie is based. Her gloves are all around the £16 mark, are pure cashmere and are excellent quality.

I have a few of the tazzies ones which I do love and wear alot but sadly they don't cover my thumb enough for my Raynards so am taking a leap on turtle doves again as my last pair were perfect in that respect. Ill report back when they arrive... Won't be keeping them if they arnt as good as my last pair

@Rainallnight not a bargain as such, but I’ve been buying this for 15 years - initially sold from a hardware store in London and produced from the family groves. Absolutely delicious and I regularly gift the 500ml bottles. mroliveoil.com/product-category/extra-virgin

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 09/09/2025 23:29

@redjoker I agree that Tazzies don’t cover the thumb enough. I have arthritis in my thumb and it makes a difference. Have a look at Whinberry fingerless gloves. They look exactly like the old Turtle Doves and they are made in the same area, I don’t know but suspect that it could be a previous maker of them. They are £26.

Anyone seen any cheap Playmobil?

There was a link to Luna Skye on a prequel thread. I had the tab open for a long time and eventually went for one of the advent bundles last week. The site says that they are clearing old stock and I’d never heard of it before so was a little worried but other than one of the boxes being a bit dusty it was good and delivered in a couple of days.
They have lots of different Playmobil bundles but it might depend on what you’re looking for. I’ve only bought one set before this so don’t really know what a good price is for specific ranges and things like that, but they seemed good to me.

Does anyone know what i could get my aoon to be 8 year old son, he's very bright, a science engineering type, hands on and loves the outdoors (hes a very committed Beaver but wannabe Scout) but we're facing months of more indoor time than he'd like - he has two younger siblings so we cant always be out in the pouring rain, cold. We're not into screens and I dont want him plonked in front of tv this winter - halthough even then he opts to watch videos of den building and bear grylls!
I thought about a whittling kit maybe..
Thanks

@MaybeItsTimeForMeNow

It’s not on offer but I like the idea of these for my bots. Haven’t bought yet though!

On the subject of STEAM, what about a day out on a steam railway? It is a bit less cold and wet, but still a bit outdoorsy?

Thanks. So basically with 30 minutes or so before the order ends, when everyone already sleeping, they make it available. They clearly didn't want anyone to have it at that price so why bother putting it in the offer pages!

GRCP · 10/09/2025 06:17

GRCP, I might go for a little tin of mints like this:
https://www.royalcollectionshop.co.uk/tin-of-mints.html#277=420

I don't think most people need more mugs, coasters, candles etc so I think I would go for something consumable, maybe just a nice chocolate bar or bag of caramelised nuts (assuming no allergies)

Edited

That’s lovely, thank you

The Galt science lab is reduced to £7.50, good for the present cupboard

Thank you for this! Science kit was on the list for my son so very happy with this bargain! Galt is good quality too, had alot of Galt branded toys over the years.
Thanks again!😊
