Me too 😊
I got a little ceramic gingerbread house, a beaded candy cane tree decoration, an advent candle and some watercolour paper for dd2.
They had some lovely paper ceiling decorations

swampwitch0 · 30/10/2025 16:52

This is Hallowe'en, this is Hallowe'en,,,,,,,,,,,,

Traditional Croissant for DD then I'll decorate outside .

Magnoliasunrise · 31/10/2025 08:16

I think we are in for heavy rain so I'm going to wait till the last minute to put outside decorations up. Also STILL not done the pumpkins......

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/10/2025 10:58

I'm waiting a while too , I've sorted some that won;t be phased by rain .
No pumpkin here , I cut up and de seeded a butternut squash last week which was bad enough !
I don;t like digging my hands into the pumpkins fibrous seedy little cold innards .

I;ll go and check the sweeties (Haribo mini bags and chocolate treat sized ones ), I told DS to keep his grubby paws off them Grin

swampwitch0 · 31/10/2025 14:42

I've wrapped a few more gifts today and written my christmas cards 🎄
I don't send many now, lots of older family members are no longer with us ☹️ and most of my younger family/friends don't send cards
Dds bf arriving for a long weekend so I've done a bit of cleaning
Dh home tomorrow thank goodness

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/10/2025 18:27

On the subject if things I have bought for my DH , I got a zipped up battery case for DH , he loves it .
Places for all sizes , a pocket in the lid and a charge tester .
So much better than a biscuit tin under the bed

I remember seeing a Sostrene Green shop recently but couldn't remember where . None near me .
It was when I went to see my Mum . I remember thinking "Oh I should look in there" but didn;t get the time .

As a Christmassy thing , I booked tickets (cinema) to see "Love Actually" ( yes I know it is dated but c'mon, Hugh Grant was lush )
DD likes this film , it came out in cinema when she was a baby , I;ve only ever seen it on telly .

<Pinch Punch>
Hairdressers for DD and me today .
Ploughing through laundry but not hopeful that it can hang outside as it is off/on rain.

I need to get a move on with ordering DS Dec 1st Box things , went to Next last week but they didn't have the sizes in stock of what I needed so I'll do a Click&Collect .

DD and DH watched "Hallowe'en" (Original) and "Nightmare on Elm Street" (first one) last night . Very old but classic films

All Saints Day.

We managed to get through all our treats in about an hour and a half then quickly got the pumpkins in and shut up shop. Not very long after that was absolute biblical rain, thunder and lightning. Very Halloween.

70 I don;t like digging my hands into the pumpkins fibrous seedy little cold innards . This made me laugh - I was thinking the same - its disgusting isn't it.

Inspired by the thread I'm making butternut squash soup today but might have to pass it off as something else as no-one likes butternut squash in my house.

Magnoliasunrise · 01/11/2025 08:07

crossed posts 😂

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 01/11/2025 09:30

We did our first ever trick or treating yesterday. LO clearly loved it as he’s cute so lots of neighbours told him to take 2 sweets. We only did half our street and he had loads 🙄

I think people came while we were out as we only had a handful of people when we got back.

Today we have clubs this morning, visiting a friend who’s having a hard time for a cuppa this afternoon and fireworks this evening. And in between we should have a workman friend of my dad’s coming to prep for the next bit of work (starting next week) and I need to do some washing and general tidying.

DH is home now and while I’ve missed him, its also confirmed that he is a messy person to live with 😂

magnolia I made 2 soups in the week. One was roasted tomato and carrot, the other was my take on a red pepper and chilli (I threw in sweet potatoes, carrots and a random parsnip too). Both were tasty and LO decided they’re great to drink directly from a cup 🙄

swampwitch0 · 01/11/2025 09:34

<eyes piles of washing and general detrious>
I hear you @NoCheesesForUsMeeces
Dh also home 😊
Dd2 working today
Dd1s bf here so they are off out
New dryer being delivered this afternoon 🙌

NoWordForFluffy · 01/11/2025 11:25

Morning!

It was bloody windy here overnight. It woke me at 5, but thankfully I got back to sleep (often I can't).

I've taken the dog out for his gallop / sniff and I'm planning on staying on the sofa doing my cross stitch cards today. I have a slight sniffle and sore throat post-flu jab so under blanket stitching is what's needed!

We're having Durban butter chicken for dinner (Spicery recipe), so I'll shift my arse later to do that and clean the kitchen.

Our washing is being done overnight / tomorrow as it's dry, sunny and windy. It's too volatile today!

Forgot to say...I've declared the heating now on today! 🤣

We've turned it on and off recently, but now it's November, we will just let it be determined by the thermostat.

We've changed supplier recently, so I'm waiting for my credit back which I will then pay to the new supplier to top us up over winter.

Jacket potatoes with something here for supper tonight
Dryer being delivered imminently 🙌
I didn't sleep well at all last night, so a nap may be in order 😴

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/11/2025 13:47

I've got an afternoon of crochet and rugby on the tv. I updated some pages in my Christmas planner this morning - addresses for the few Christmas cards we still send - and listed the presents I've bought so far. I do need to make a note of what food I've ordered so far but I'll probably sort that towards the end of the month when I'm meal planning for December. DD2 should be moving into her own place later this month so it will free up some space in the freezer in the kitchen and I'll have more of an idea what I can make and freeze ahead.

swampwitch0 · 01/11/2025 14:35

I've treated myself to a bottle of heavily discounted perfume 😬
I've been good and not bought any bath and bodyworks stuff - Next have lots of it on 4for2 atm
I need a card for someone who has been bereaved this year...should I just get a blank one and write a message or a regular Christmas card? 🤔

It's getting closer . ......

DD has yet to emerge from her winter bedding ( brushed cotton duvet cover , sheet, pillowcases ) she'll be hibernating Xmas Grin . It is a 'mare to dry though as it's so heavy .

DH and I have regular cotton but use a teddy fleece sheet when its really cold and nice brushed cotton pillowcases with robins on ( for December )

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/11/2025 09:45

Ojh swamp that's a tricky one .
Is the recipient one who wants to hide away from Christmas this year ?

When it was my parents Wedding Anniversary ( 60 years so a significant one ) it was eight months after my Dad had died . I sent a beautiful floral "thinking of you" card and wrote something inside . Then each year after a similar one .

You could find a winter scene , so not Christmas or Festive but evoke the winter season , and write something like 'in this difficult time ' as the "firsts" are always toughest . (First Christmas , Birthday, holiday after the loss of a loved one )

swampwitch0 · 02/11/2025 11:29

Thank you @70isaLimitNotaTarget
That was what I was thinking of sending...
The family member was invited to ours for Christmas (abroad) but can't get a house sitter ☹️
