OK, so you all went on a bloody posting frenzy!

Can someone add the countdown from today to make it easier tomorrow? Thanking you!

Not much festivity here, sadly!

I went and had my flu jab at Tesco at lunchtime. We do have some more festive drinks coming later on in a special Sainsbury's order, and I ordered 3 bottles of Bailey's from Amazon as they're £11 for a litre (price matching Morrisons).

Woolly, my upper wardrobe cupboards are full of sweets for the advent calendar! And the garage is just rammed with stuff too (general Christmas snacks and stocking fillers. Plus booze!)

I'm wo during if I should get a meat thermometer @NoWordForFluffy prior to Christmas 🎄

TheWoollybacksWife · 28/10/2025 16:15

@swampwitch0I've got a stick-in thermometer and it's been a worthwhile investment for testing roast meats. We also have an in-oven one that connects to an app - I personally prefer the probe version but I'm old school.

@NoWordForFluffyI bought a lovely heavy duty roasting pan from Lakeland last year. I'm very happy that it hasn't buckled easily pleased

swampwitch0 · 28/10/2025 16:23

@TheWoollybacksWife
I am immature enough that the word "probe" has sold me 🤣
I think I watched too much X Files in the 90s...👽

swampwitch0 · 27/10/2025 20:31

I went for a walk...Got a bit damp!
Cleaned the washing machine filter, cleaned a the new office chair.
Been re watching Slow Horses today - really recommend it 👌

My DD and DH love Slow Horses , they made me tag along with them (we were in London for a Serial Killers Walk) to the bus stop and the stairs where it's filmed .
I am quite partial to a bit of Gary Oldman , even as the disgusting Jackson Lamb .
Roddy makes me laugh but he is such a knob,

swampwitch0 · 28/10/2025 18:59

The books are great, too

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 28/10/2025 19:36

DH and I are doing token presents for each other this year (aim is just to let LO see us get each other things) as we’ve decided a weekend away we’ve booked will be our main present.

I’m pretty sure my most successful presents for DH have been things others would think are really boring (knife set, cast iron griddle pan, a drill bit set) 😂

Ive had a great festive day. Watched a CCF with my feet up this afternoon and am watching another now with my cross stitch.
And tomorrow I’m planning to go Christmas shopping for a few hours.

swampwitch0 · 28/10/2025 20:08

Dhs favourite ever gift was a head torch 🔦 🤪

swampwitch0 · 29/10/2025 09:02

I bought plant growing kits for the dc stocking last night...
I need to stop buying stuff after midnight 😬

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 29/10/2025 11:46

57 I’m sat in a cafe after making a big dent in my Christmas shopping. Have slightly overdone it on my one niece as she’s so easy to buy for but I feel much better now.
am enjoying tea and cake while I update my lists then will do a bit more before going home.

Also have a festive playlist on my headphones which is helping with the mood as it’s raining a fair bit here today.

swampwitch0 · 29/10/2025 12:07

I've watched the finale of Slow Horses - brilliant 👏
I've got a drs appointment later and dd has a friend coming over, then I'm volunteering this evening
I need to go actual irl shopping...
I might go next month on pay day 😀
Sounds like you're having a lovely and productive day @NoCheesesForUsMeeces

It's almost Christmas! 😍 I started a thread below last week (which seems to be gathering tumbleweeds) to share some ideas for family games and fun things to do, as well as looking for inspiation as well. Please feel free to add your ideas as well.

We could build The Ultimate Christmas Fun Guide. 💃😜💋

Christmas Quizzes | Mumsnet

I've bought some new Christmas napkin rings

NoWordForFluffy · 29/10/2025 15:12

Afternoon.

We've been to my parents today. DH was doing a washing machine swap and installing a tumble dryer (a washer dryer came with the apartment, but they're rubbish, so we wanted to put their previous washer in and we got a new dryer for them).

My parents and I went to see the crocheted Spitfire in the centre, which is amazing!

We're now home and I need to make dinner (beef casserole) then do some cleaning.

The kids are with their other grandparents today / overnight.

Oh wow Fluffy, that looks great!

I got home at 1:30 and did some online shopping so all the kids I buy for are done. Need to do an Aldi shop for my dads hamper then an M&S one for a nice bottle and some biscuits for ILs, then one Amazon order and I’m done (aside for my token present for DH). Phew!

Am just picking up LO from nursery. I promised a harvester tea (big salad bar fan) then home

56 - is it 8 weeks today? Yikes!

I bought DH a leaf blower last year, it was a hint really but he didn't take it 😒

Lovely spitfire Fluffy

Half term racing by and its been so busy doing chores - eye tests, dentist, clear outs, tip trips, gardening, housework that today I am going to force myself to go for a nice walk then have a read for an hour.

Off to the gym and supermarket first though.

swampwitch0 · 30/10/2025 08:03

Last week was hair cuts, eye tests flu jabs etc
Dds called it MOT week 😀
It's sunny here today so I'm going to try and get mum out of her flat (sigh)
Dd1 isn't working today and dd2 is supposed to be doing coursework...we shall see 😬

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 30/10/2025 09:58

Of course 70 - it was a Mumsnet massive salad. Phew, that could have cost me my mn access!

I forgot to say I bought a Christmas cardigan (been looking for ages as I overheat in jumpers these days) and found my Santa wrapping paper - in Primark of all places (pic).

I also spotted a blow up Grinch in the range. Not my thing but I did like the curves tree he’s attached too.

I haven’t been productive at all this half term re the house. DH has been away and I feel like having LO and doing the basics is enough on my own.

Today me and LO are going to his favourite farm. It has animals and bouncy castles so he’s going to have a great time.

swampwitch0 · 30/10/2025 11:22

My dh is away too, @NoCheesesForUsMeeces
I hate the long trips 😒
I've been shopping irl this morning and got an advent candle and a couple of small tree decorations from sostrene green 🎄
I twitched last night and got dd a lego blind bag for her stocking 🎄😬
