OK, so you all went on a bloody posting frenzy!

Can someone add the countdown from today to make it easier tomorrow? Thanking you!

@NoWordForFluffy
We don't bother with appliance insurance anymore...have had some really bad experiences, sadly (house fire and flooding caused by useless fitters installing new appliances!)
And it's SO hard to actually get the repairs done/organised.
I looked at the cost of a new HC unit and call out charge and it's more than a new machine.
I think we have just been really unlucky, tbh
Dealing with the companies insurance departments was horrendously stressful 😡
I am convinced that white goods are noe designed to fail in <5 years bitter

We install our own appliances. And it's dead easy to organise repairs online through a portal. Never had a problem. The repairs are 'free'. It would take over a year's premiums to pay for a call out charge if we weren't insured.

I just consider it a type of savings scheme for a new appliance, tbh, with the added bonus of discounts on other appliances.

@NoWordForFluffy
As I say, I think we've been very unlucky

swampwitch0 · 25/10/2025 12:07

Although I've just seen a thread on the machine I've got and they are having a similar issue...I'd never have a HP dryer again

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 25/10/2025 12:57

Fluffy As a Welsh person I think I'm nationally obligated to enjoy daffs 🤣

We don't do appliance insurance either, although until we moved to this house a few years ago almost everything was second hand anyway (sourced by my df who seems to do a lot of work for people who just throw away things that are only a year or so oldShock).
Added bonus is that df fits and fixes them if they need it (he has def saved us £££££ over the years which is why he gets more spent on him for Christmas).

Sadly no Christmas plans for this Rudolph day.
We've done LOs clubs this morning. Am now doing bits of housework although it's pointless as we have 2 rooms worth of stuff squashed in the living room. Will have a shower soon, then DH is going to a funeral so me and LO will probably go for a little walk along the river.
Then we're out for a meal for my uncles birthday this evening

swampwitch0 · 25/10/2025 13:01

We fit things ourselves now, too, @NoCheesesForUsMeeces after our last couple of experiences! 😬😡
No rudolph day plans, here, either
I could go for a walk through the local fair this evening but if its raining I won't bother

NoWordForFluffy · 25/10/2025 16:24

I've just been and bought our Christmas beer, so I've done something for Rudolph day!

I'm also going to Booths later for a TGTG bag. I'll be getting one of their red bag tree decorations if they have them. They only had the pink ones when DH went this week.

I did buy a few decs from John Lewis the other day. The kids got a doggy one each (I chose, they weren't with me!).

Oh, they are lovely @NoWordForFluffy

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/10/2025 20:19

They are very nice indeed @NoWordForFluffy

I was in That Larndarn today , we went to John Lewis but not the Christmas Dept (it was on Floor 3 , saw loads of lights and trees from the escalators )

Bought underwear , pyjamas, (for DD) , trip into SpaceNk for some scent .Nice jumper for DD for work ( I wear a uniform so I don;t need to think about these things )

It tipped down out of nowhere , we took shelter in a shop.

8000 steps , not too shabby Xmas Wink

swampwitch0 · 25/10/2025 20:21

I must do some walking tomorrow @70isaLimitNotaTarget
Have been very lazy the past few days...

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 26/10/2025 07:11

🎄60🎄
Morning. Posting from bed as I’m refusing to get up early on a day I don’t have to, especially as LO is still sleeping.
Have woken feeling festive so am about to see if any Christmas magazines are available on my library app.

Lovely doggy decs Fluffy

No big plans again today as LO is still a bit under the weather. Chilled morning, possibly out for lunch, more chilling at home (with me doing washing and some bits around the house), food shopping and an early night.

Magnoliasunrise · 26/10/2025 08:06

Morning!

Loving the clocks going back, so nice to have that extra hour.

Beautiful autumnal day today. I've just put the Christmas cake in the cupboard and labelled my berry and apple jam that I made yesterday so feeling like a lazy day today although I do need to do a MASSIVE pile of ironing.

AprilinPortugal · 26/10/2025 08:28

I'm guessing you're no longer melting from the heat 😆

swampwitch0 · 26/10/2025 08:48

I'm off to m&s in a while for something for dinner...

swampwitch0 · 26/10/2025 09:11

Its 5 degrees here this morning.
The heat has gone on.

Ha! No that ship has sailed Xmas Grin

@NoWordForFluffy might start the new thread when we get to 50 , we have a few available posts left on here and I don't think there are that many Bruces that will take them up .

But here's one for later ................

BTW it's not sensitive image , unless you have a fear of vests. Or small confined spaces .

Yes, 50 would be a good day to start the new thread not least because it's my birthday!

Definitely no heat here now!

Thought I was being quite clever going to m&s for opening at 10am...
Omg, it was rammed 😲
Steak for dinner 🍽
New tumble dryer arriving next week 🙌
Not much planned for today...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/10/2025 21:18

I went into M&S today as well , not early doors , probably around 11am.
It was so busy , I thought probably because of Half Term and buying for Hallowe'en , And on a Sunday there;s either free or very reduced parking .

I took DS down to the gym, did a quick waft into M&S then Sainsbury (they'd moved so many things in there !) then came home to do dinner .

DH got the Hallowe'en decoration from the attic so I'll have a look through them later and decide what we're doing this year . Whatever I do has to be easy enough to put up and take in before late as I only want diddy Trick or Treaters not older ones .

I;ve told the cats they have to stay in, all the advice on Cat Protection and other charities warns about the dangers , especially as our are both black cats . They can sit on the windowsill if they like looking like proper witches cats .

Got to take the cat to the vet for his 6 month check up. So I'll shortly be trying to squeeze a reluctant scratching and hissing cat into his carry case while attempting not to get his fur stuck in the zip. Its one of my least favourite things to do.

swampwitch0 · 27/10/2025 08:57

Its pouring down here but I really need some fresh air/exercise so I'm going to put my waterproof on ☺️

NoWordForFluffy · 27/10/2025 14:45

I'm just back from Chester / Liverpool with DS. He didn't want to do his school residential this week just gone, so I said I'd take him away for a night instead.

The weather was awful yesterday, so much so we checked in at 3 and didn't go out again! We've done the amphitheatre and city walls today though.

We're off out to Hickory's later on. I promised takeaway from there without checking they still do it, and they don't! So we are going instead. 🤷‍♀️🤣 (Never promise an autistic child something without checking, is the lesson here!)

Fluffy I learned a similar lesson with my nephew a while ago when I mentioned in passing that my plan the day I was looking after him was to go to X place and maybe pick up a McDonalds on the way home.
I forgot I’d mentioned it and said I was going to treat them to tea out - caused a very big upset as he had set the McDs plan in stone and picked what he wanted etc.

70 does a fear of Bruce W in a vest count? <shudder>

I’m off work for half term and while I’ve had a lovely day with LO today, I feel mentally exhausted and will be having an early night.

Was planning to watch something Christmas related this evening but wasted time trying to pick and have ended up giving in and starting series 3 of blue lights instead 🙄

swampwitch0 · 27/10/2025 20:31

I went for a walk...Got a bit damp!
Cleaned the washing machine filter, cleaned a the new office chair.
Been re watching Slow Horses today - really recommend it 👌

Its a very damp day today in London.

I planted some bulb lasagnes yesterday - did 3 pots, will get some nice pots for them to go into and planning to give one to DM and DSis for xmas presents.

Agree with the "plans" whenever DH suggests something I always have to remind him to check that its all possible coz DD has difficulty accepting a change in plans.

TheWoollybacksWife · 28/10/2025 14:43

I've had a pretty festive day. I've bought DH's Christmas present (it was on offer so it would have been foolish not to get it). I've bought the chocolates for the advent calendars and stocked up on wine while Tesco had the 25% off. I also bought decorative dinner plates in B&M to replace the plastic charger plates that are probably 30 years old now - these are about an inch bigger all round than our plain white plates so I think they will look lovely. I picked up some table decorations from Sostrene Grene a couple of weeks ago that will match nicely as well.
