I’m feeling nostalgic and as I was a teenager in the 90s and an avid diary writer, I have evidence that I had the following for Christmas in 1992 (from friends and family):

a lockable vanity box
a new diary from WHSmith
a velvet floppy hat a la Blossom
a black velvet bomber jacket
Tribe perfume
a Purple Ronnie mug
a Body Shop Mostly Musk gift basket
Almay eyeshadow and lipstick
Boots Natural Collection shower gel and hair conditioner
Roxette album
Bath pearls

And in 1995:

a portable TV for my bedroom
Priscilla Queen of the Desert soundtrack
Charlie White perfume
Sun and moon hanging decoration
101 Uses for a Dead Cat book
A new diary
Little beanbag frog ornament
Boots Natural Collection wooden make-up set
Now compilation album
Boots Global Collection Turkish delight lipbalm

Can anyone else remember what they got? (With or without the use of a diary to check) I love how the lists above really sum up the pop culture of the time.

Oh yes! Love this bit of nostalgia. Also loved Charlie White and Charlie Red. Do you remember the "Bang on the Door" phase? I remember getting the cassette of Micheal Jackson's Black or White. And I had a "Woof" duvet cover.

Ohwtfnow · 22/12/2024 22:11

I do indeed remember Bang on the Door. I was more 18-19 during that phase though so only got cards with it on rather than the proper merchandise because I was slightly older than the target audience. That was around peak Spice Girls and hair mascara time I reckon.

Mostly anything Dewberry smelling from the Body Shop. Oh and a TV that I had to share with my brother but that was plugged in my brothers room. Still bitter about that!

RareMaker · 22/12/2024 22:13

My kids still have this. Must have been good quality as its been played with for over 20 yrs through my 4 children

UndeniablyGenX · 22/12/2024 22:17

I remember getting one of those plastic sunflowers that danced when you played music in 1990!

Chipshopninja · 22/12/2024 22:25

I remember various "big presents" in late 90s

Tv and video combi for my bedroom
House phone extension for my bedroom
Portable cd player

Early 90s the best thing I got was the playmobil victorian mansion. Bloody loved playmobil

Oh and we always got a tube of sweets in our stocking (fruit pastels were the best)

TokyoSushi · 22/12/2024 22:28

Oh my, Tribe perfume - amazing!!!

TinyPairsOfSocks · 22/12/2024 22:30

I remember that there was a perfume in the body shop called "Tea Rose" and I was captivated by how exactly it smelled like a tea rose.

In the 90s I still got technical lego for Christmas and I also got amazing card board kits to build things. My best kits were a full sized skeleton and a mechanical clock that worked. They were great.

1994 I got a super Nintendo. I can literally remember the pure excitement opening that wrapping paper - I'm not sure anything has ever come close since.

doodleschnoodle · 22/12/2024 22:37

Sega Mega Drive, one of those TVs with inbuilt VCR are the two standouts I can remember! Oh and a light-up spinning globe.

Loved a novelty soap. Never to be used under any circumstances, only to be displayed in a line in the bathroom, where they gathered dust for years.

HangingOver · 22/12/2024 22:57

Anyone remember the slightly transparent tangerine soap for Body Shop. Damn that was good.

I wanted a hamburger phone SO much.

And Dream Phone. My mum thought it was common. Jokes on her as I played it obsessively at my friend's how and that was probably why I was such a tart in high school 😁

Fashion wheel, Spirograph, etch a sketch, Care Bears, my little pony (all still around!), lady lovelilocks, Constance Carroll make up , those tee shirts that changed colour when you breathed on them, black leggings and runners!

Must have been after my Xmas where I got the spice girls album and the fugees album on tape 😂

RealHousewivesOfTaunton · 22/12/2024 22:59

Bath pearls for sure, probably the dolphin-shaped ones from The Body shop.

A Barbie carriage.
A Barbie campervan.
A Mr Frostie. I was that child whose parents bought them one.
