My family of five has just scarfed down 36 mince pies and two tubs of clotted cream in one sitting

I'm slightly shell-shocked 😂 I spent the morning making them and suggested we all take a little mid-afternoon break to have a couple. Half an hour later...crumbs! I suppose I had better make some more.

How many mince pies do you reckon you and yours could get through in one go? I had three. I think ds2 had 8 😳

To be honest - and I'm both fat and greedy - I'd struggle with more than once mince pie. They are a bit sickly and I'm not fond of mincemeat.

I could probably eat 3 slices of most cake though!

I would say max. 2 as they are rich and sweet. I love a mince pie, but more than that would leave me feeling ill for the rest of the day.

It does depend on the size though. I'm thinking of the ones from M&S.

How old is your ds2?

He's 20. He's the stereotypical MN rangy rail-thin specimen with hollow legs, he's a chef and works 70 hour weeks...when he eats, he eats a lot!

How big were they? Mini ones I could sort of understand (not really though!). That is some epic mince pie eating.

I could eat maybe four home-made mince pies in one sitting if I really set my mind to it - but I don't sweeten my pastry and I add extra brandy to the mincemeat, so they're not super sweet.

OP if you had 3 and DS2 had 8, that's 25 mince pies between the others, so they're all just as greedy as DS2.

Are they really small? Small fresh out of the oven maybe 2-3 but generally just the one. I wouldn't let kids (or husband!) eat so many as it's a lot of effort to make them and it seems greedy.

Careful, some of the posters on here will be absolutely disgusted by this and will tell you so! 😆 Some young adults absolutely have hollow legs, it is a huge amount but it's not unknown for people to really overdo it at Christmas!

They're jam tart sized, I make the kind with a pastry star/heart on top. Not huge heavy ones but not mini either.

You should introduce your DS to Costco mince pies. If he could manage two it would be a miracle.
