My family of five has just scarfed down 36 mince pies and two tubs of clotted cream in one sitting

I'm slightly shell-shocked 😂 I spent the morning making them and suggested we all take a little mid-afternoon break to have a couple. Half an hour later...crumbs! I suppose I had better make some more.

How many mince pies do you reckon you and yours could get through in one go? I had three. I think ds2 had 8 😳

None. We don’t like them!

ChaosHol1 · 19/12/2024 21:23

What the fuck that's mental 😂 I love one heated up in the microwave for 15 seconds then with scooshy cream. The other four would maybe have two each at once but never known them to have more than one at once. They are pretty sickening.

I don't think any of us would be able to look at a mince pie again if we ate that many at once, good effort from you all 😂

Balloonhearts · 19/12/2024 21:23

Well something has to kill you. Better pastries than cancer or getting hit by a bus.

Death by mince pies does sound awfully appealing

GoldenLegend · 19/12/2024 21:36

I don't have any difficulty putting away a box of six in an evening. Without cream, though.

Albta · 19/12/2024 21:38

Mine, who is 4, ate 4.5 normal
sized ones last Saturday….

Meowingtwice · 19/12/2024 21:41

Sounds like DS2 was hungry. Next time put cheese & crackers out too? They must have been nice though.

I would only have a teeny tiny slice with a massive salad and I would be full for a week.

My dc (I have 6 of them) would share one between them and be absolutely stuffed.

In reality we would go through none, we aren't a mince pie family at all, now if you were to ask about chocolate gateau on the other hand .... 🤣

We've lost sight of what a healthy mince pie size is😉

AspirationalTallskinnylatte · 19/12/2024 22:02

My own homemade ones I could eat I reckon 6 without feeling ill. Supermarket ones aren't as nice and are bigger but I could still eat three.

😱 no cream

Clearly nobody in my family thinks it's gross!

The cream to pie ratio is skewed by the fact that ds2 doesn't like it, while ds1 could literally eat the tub with a spoon.

Ds2 doesn’t like clotted cream

you need to get him seen quick, how do you think that happened?

MikeRafone · 19/12/2024 22:10

Switcher · 19/12/2024 17:25

What's with the cream? Is this a thing now, adding cream?

ive Never known mince pies without clotted cream? My grandparents taught me back in the 1960s and they’d be doing it earlier

Oblomov24 · 19/12/2024 22:12

Oh, they weren't that big then? Make bigger ones next time. I don't like mince pies, but Dh and ds1 can put away 3 easily.

Bogeyes · 19/12/2024 22:13

They must be super yummy

Er. I'm a bingy cske eater and I think 2-3 would be easy, 4-6 extreme.
If you had 3 that's an average of 8.25 each, plus a large amount of cream. I do think that's pretty excessive, and of I had made them I would be bloody annoyed 🤣. But if you are happy to get back to work and make a heap more of you want any more yourself then more power to you!

Likewhatever · 19/12/2024 22:42

Do you have a dog OP? One with a guilty face?

Crispynoodle · 19/12/2024 22:57

Easy done.....

NoCarbsForMe · 20/12/2024 08:02

Can you share your recipe op?

NoCarbsForMe · 20/12/2024 08:02

I'm with DS1 and the clotted cream btw 😋

Windsorlady · 20/12/2024 08:53
