Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I have ordered a couple of those punirunes or whatever they are called as I think both my girls will like them and for £9.99 seems ok!

polkadotchristmas · 23/11/2024 23:48

@CandyRaining my Ulster weavers order took so long that I forgot I'd ordered it but came today. Maybe 10 days ?

rhubarbhandsoap · 24/11/2024 00:19

Garnier Banana Hair Mask £4.19

Garnier 5 x Face Mask Set £6.99

Tiger + Snail Wellness Journal £5.95

Worth keep checking your Sparks offers, I've just got £3 off a chocolate box and 25% off Percy and Colin advent calendars. Not huge discounts but useful if on the shopping list anyway.

I have also got the £3 off of the musical box, which I am really happy about. At £15, I couldn’t justify buying one, but it feels slightly less indulgent at £12 😁. I noted you can buy more than one during the transaction, but the code/offer is for one transaction only.

any good deals / prices on paco rabanne millionaire aftershave which I think is the one my DH likes.

I picked up the 100ml Eau de toilette from Argos. It's £65 but I signed up for emails and got a £10 off a £60 code, so got it for £55 in the end which I was happy with.

Laithwaites. I used a referral code from the referral thread and bought two of the cheese and wine hampers @£50 each. The code took it down to £60 and my bank had 15% cash back, so £9, making each hamper £25.50. My credit card also had 5% cash back so worth checking your accounts.

Blade and Rose have an up to 70% off sale. I got a 3 piece ladybird outfit for £16.50. The discount 10OFF was taking £10 off £40. I didn’t need to spend that much but might help someone.

Does anyone know with the Laithwaites hampers if they can be ordered to two different addresses? I have 2 employees to send a Xmas hamper to and this sounds like a great deal but only if I can split the delivery address, we all work remotely and they live about 200 and 250 miles away from me so ordering it to my address and then passing it over is not an option unfortunately 😬

By the way This camera which came down to £13ish is perfectly fine - dd7 has been using hers and the pictures are the same as her old one which had stopped charging and she’s very pleased with it - I was worried as somebody mentioned it lacked megapixels. So if anyone else got it, don’t worry, I don’t think the specs matter that much for a fun kids camera :-)

This looks great. My daughter has asked for an instax camera but considering this now instead

Famousthehero · 24/11/2024 06:25

If anyone’s with octopus energy/octoplus they’ve sent an email to say they’re doing discount stuff with partners on the app next week - have attached the list

I keep reading about freeze dried sweets being all the rage this year. I can see plenty online but as anyone come across any irl? ta

I saw some in farmfoods yesterday. Not sure on flavours or price though, about £2 i think?

Tigger83 · 24/11/2024 07:35

Can anyone recommend any good hoodies for dh? Needs to be a 'nice' brand

IlovePond · 24/11/2024 07:36

What’s your budget @Tigger83 ?

Midwintermayhem · 24/11/2024 07:36

Can anyone recommend a big set of cloud slime please? It's the only request from my friend's daughter and I'd like to get something really good.

ETA obviously I've looked on Amazon but the reviews are hit and miss. Thanks.

Tigger83 · 24/11/2024 07:36

Hmmm around £50-£70 I guess?

VolcanicProtectorMan · 24/11/2024 07:43

Has anyone seen any Moana gifts IRL bargains? I feel like I’ve scoured everywhere online already, and even Vinted. I’m limited to max £10 for a gift and really struggling to get anything more than a colouring book or stickers for that!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 24/11/2024 07:51

PersisFord · 23/11/2024 21:02

I bought these for both myself and DD. We love them so much I bought some more yesterday. Such good value for £12.50

Tigger83 · 24/11/2024 07:55

Thank you so much so kind xx

IlovePond · 24/11/2024 07:57

You’re welcome @Tigger83

I can’t get my DH out of his ‘I love my husky’ hoodie that I bought him for a joke last Xmas - I may try to tempt him with one of those myself😹

rhubarbhandsoap · 24/11/2024 07:58

@VolcanicProtectorMan have you looked on Etsy? (Filter by UK shop location and max price £10.)

When DS was into Mario it wasn’t trending and I found Etsy really good for themed gifts! (Maybe a cushion / t shirt / prints.)

redjoker · 24/11/2024 08:04

I just took a look at the shortbread hampers on the deans website. I cant get over how good value they are?

And free delivery over 20 quid? Going to get one and split for office gifts. Seems slightly criminal!

NewtyCutey · 24/11/2024 08:13

Frugi leggings are* *£7 at the moment (usually around £15) here. They are organic cotton and have a really nice feel. There is also 30% off most of the website.

It's lovely that people want to thank others properly, but judicious use of the 'Thanks' button will keep the thread from moving so fast that it becomes less useful.

Also Reastie set up a thread for sharing and asking for codes here so we can keep this thread focused on the bargains.
