Thanks @IlovePond for the title.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@Ness1234 no worries. I got some great bargains last year for my DD. I'm late to look this year & the jumper I want isn't available in my preferred colour. I think I'll still order some bits though. The leggings are amazing

Pinkkisugarmouse · 21/11/2024 19:30

So close to being finished although to be fair I don’t have many people to buy for. I’m starting to feel a little bit excited.

Is anyone else still waiting for their soccer04 order? I ordered on 19th october. Had a shipping email on the 11th, but still nothing. Getting worried as it is one of their main presents.

I ordered just before that date I think and got mine last week, so could be that yours is due soon.

Unrulyrabbit · 21/11/2024 16:20

Are they legitimate? Those prices look too good to be true!

Edited

Approved food sells old and out of date stock. They often have food items for 1p, although they are usually limited to one per customer. It depends really if you want something for yourself or if you want to gift it. It is mostly food, so I guess non food items may not be so risky.

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 21/11/2024 20:10

If anyone comes across a Mens ridgeline or similar smock on offer could you let me know please. DH never asks for anything but would love one for work

mumsm · 21/11/2024 18:41

Thank you to whoever it was that shared the 3 pack of smackers - I had 3 boys left to add top ups to so these are perfect!

Could you link please? Missed this one!

Disappointed with my Sparx 20% off trees at M&S and NO other offers. Do they think that’s so good any more would spoil me?

Do we think M&S will do their daily ‘advent’ again? I know it caused mixed feelings last year but I quite enjoyed it.

fishfingersandchipsagain · 21/11/2024 20:29

@Reastie heads up that we are nearing the end of the thread already

NotAdultingToday · 21/11/2024 20:42

Just having a nosy on Amazon and saw the karcher window vac on offer, im sure i saw some talk about one today?

Beingacatbed · 21/11/2024 20:42

I've got 20% off kids wear but my kids are all wearing adult clothing sizes nowadays! Here's hoping for a generous advent calendar this year!

Can anyone tell me if a) all xbox controllers are made equal and b) where is bargainous to look for them? With thanks.

It's hard to get much of a bargain, Amazon next week might be a good bet. Cheapest ones are wired, Argos usually have them as well as Amazon. But the young people I know all really want the wireless ones, and I can see why tbh.

Thanks @Iggi999 I will keep looking. I wasn’t sure if they are all the same or different types/features. Appreciate the advice

@Unrulyrabbit I'm a long term Elemis fan and have ordered Elemis products from Approved Food before with no problems. I think they buy in bulk, and food items are short dated or past BBE date, but all clearly marked as such.

PlanBea · 21/11/2024 21:02

Can anyone tell me what I need for an Amazon echo to work? DS (3) uses one at nursery and at friends houses, and they have dropped in price as usual for black Friday - but what subscriptions do you need? He likes telling it to play specific songs and is annoyed at the one at my mum's house that she inherited and it has no subscriptions so doesn't do what he asks. We don't have prime or anything, would we need prime and a music subscription?

The kids one is now £27.99 - is the kids one worth it for the kids+ content? It looks different from the ones at nursery so not sure if that's the way to go or not.

Sorry for daft questions, I've spent many blissful years being ignorant of Alexa but it's got me in the end!

IlovePond · 21/11/2024 21:03

Fingers crossed @mum2jakie I got some handcream last year. The year before I got mini Xmas lights - they were great!

You can either use amazon music subscription which used to be £3.99 a month for 1 device. Or you can link it to Spotify which is what we do.

I cant comment on the kids ones we just have a normal one. I only succumbed as my digital radio broke and the echo was cheaper and could play Spotify too. Plus handy for alarms and cooking timers!

Iggi999 · 21/11/2024 21:09

Well do put in the name of the Xbox model when you're searching, just in case - series c, series s, Xbox one. @Straysocks

Annie1290 · 21/11/2024 21:14

Anyone know how much Yoto players were reduced to last year? Natural Baby Shower currently have 15% off, not sure whether to wait or go for it?!

CandyRaining · 21/11/2024 18:23

Oh no! I wear lined crocs with socks 🙈😂

I just can’t get my head round the trend 😂But I am also the only non crocs wearer in my house and they all can’t understand that either 😂

Magik01 · 21/11/2024 21:23

Does anyone have an Argos code at all, about to spend £50, but could make it £60 if needed. Already signed up to emails ages ago so can’t use that. Anything would be very much appreciated, thanks!

It was me who originally said about the £1.50 rats in ikea. I saw them in Southampton, they weren't with the toys they were with the discounted stuff by the tills.

Unfortunately we were only there for a show and its a 1hr45 train journey from me so can't pick them up!

Every year there's always something that manages to escape me, I never thought it'd be an IKEA rat 😅 I'll have another look to see what eBay and Vinted have to offer!

Fuckingfuckssake · 21/11/2024 21:29

Lots of lovely gifts at the Royal Mint, WELCOMEBACK gives a 10% discount on everything here.

@Justhereforthechristmasthreads I bought a small pack of the Aldi munch mix and was very disappointed with it. The pretzels and nuts were fine but there were hardly any chocolate balls and the toffee popcorn was soggy 😔 Cheaper and tastier to just buy the bits you like separately and mix them.
