Thanks @Travelcrazy for the title. It really tickled me!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

What ages have you bought them for? I’ve got a 10 year and and 7 year old and they might like them…

I got them for a 7 year old and two 5 year olds. I’m adding a scrap book, pens and stickers so they have somewhere to put the photos. Which I’m sure will be of peoples elbows and stuff from the 5 year olds!

Sorry I’m really behind on this thread, has anyone been tracking the price of Hatchimal Alive? They’re currently half price on Amazon, but is this this an actual half price?

@HeartandSeoul
How many packets of love hearts did you order? I've added 2 to the basket and when I try to click add on a third it's not doing anything. I want to get a couple for the kids gifts

Hatchimal Alive

Looks a decent price although similar at the Entertainer and John Lewis at the moment. Amazon does take an extra 10% off at checkout. I'd prob get one if we hadn't done the whole hatchimal thing already with the eldest. Tbh I found with mine the most fun part was the hatching and then she lost interest.

How odd! I ordered 7 packets. Sorry to ask a silly question, but did you add all of the names to the one box (putting a comma after each one until it turns green)?

shinny · 09/11/2024 11:35

I’ve just ordered 5 packs of the love hearts - missed it last year so thanks very mich

also snapped up the Olaplex fab deal - many thanks 😊

Thank you @Disneyland2022 and @IlovePond. Will maybe keep checking back then I've added the item to my basket so will wait and see what black Friday deals they have. I have a Nike account already unfortunately my birthday was many months ago or I would have had that code to use.

Also wanted to say home bargains had some annuals in at £2.99. Cheaper than the works which were 2 for £8 or £5 each. Sorry if that was mentioned already but I spotted those today and thought I'd share.

@Crackersnap you could always set up a new Nike account with a new email and late November birthday?

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 09/11/2024 12:15

@HeartandSeoul No! I was being dim and adding a name each time. Got it working now as I needed 5. Thanks so much!

@HeartandSeoul i did wonder about the letters being in the wrong order! I didn’t buy any myself, so thanks for correcting :-)

It looks like I’m saying you typed it wrong, so apologies if it reads like that 😳. I had thought the image you included (of the incorrect code from the website) would be copied with the quote, but I can see now why it wouldn’t 🤦🏼‍♀️.

@Scout2016 she has actually been using my vintage singer, adapted to use electric, which isn’t ideal & I have been looking for one for her birthday which is 3 days after Christmas! She also does gymnastics and is crafty which is probably why it was my first thought!

My sister had a Brother brand sewing machine as her first machine and that lasted years and years and loads of projects (the whole family used it). Also, you can usually get them fixed at sewing shops like taking them to the mechanic lol so don’t just assume a machine is done for if it goes wrong!

So, I think I am looking for a Brother myself if I can find a pretty one, or one of the JL ones as they do have very good reviews and are pretty!

My DD12 has the JL one and it’s a great machine. I have a Brother and the feet are compatible with both.

Glad you managed to get it to work, and put your order through. It took me a while to work it out at the time, so you’re certainly not the only one to be confused by the process!

@Serendipitystardust can you please keep me updated if the cashback becomes payable. I had planned to refer my husband but have read that it's only paid out once per address.

Will do. It's all still pending at the moment. 🤞

I’ve actually messaged them to ask when the cash back will become payable, and they’ve replied with 75 days!!

I bought a single serving bubble tea kit in Tesco but they also have larger boxes. They do milk or fruit and it comes with a straw (presumably paper)
