Thanks @Travelcrazy for the title. It really tickled me!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Can anyone recommend any good fruit bubble tea kits please? Ideally without a cup ( we have so many plastic cups).

Thanks.

@Dolphintrainer @SevenKingsMustDie @Greenkindness and @MidnightMilkman thank you for the recommendation (and warning) of the Joseph Joseph rice cooker- I hadn’t thought of a microwave one- I’d been looking at the electric ones.

@livingwithpmdd
@CandyRaining I agree with @PMAmostofthetime that the portable printer is a good idea and that aiming for one of the ones with cheaper refills may be a good idea.

I'm currently keeping an eye on this Kodak one as hoping it goes down another £5-10 in black Friday sale:

Apologies for the random tag "livingwithpmdd" I have literally tried closing browser and clearing cache and it wouldn't remove your name!

@YeahWellWhyNot can you link to the amazon deal, it is sold out in Argos near me. I can't find it on amazon....

I’ve given up trying to get Hi Smile in a Home Bargains bricks and mortar shop, but I see they have it online too.

And since I would be buying 3, even with 3.95 postage it’s still cheaper for me to buy from HB than on Boots half price offer. (£10 for 3 including postage from HB, rather than £13.50 at boots).

BUT I can’t bring myself to checkout without making the most of the postage.

Im getting one of the Bum Bum Cream dupes. What else is good from Home Bargains?

These were my thoughts exactly!

I looked up some of the household brands I usually buy and found Elvive Extraordinary Oil shampoo and conditioner cheaper than where I usually buy it from, so stocked up on that which has completely offset the postage.

I also found this game reduced to £2.99. I checked Amazon for reviews and it looks good. home.bargains/product/04792b18-4aa8-4653-bbe5-30989c2bbdc0/green-team-wins-game?qid=6fbb6d1eff99bd0edd92a553c2341f9e

@fishfingersandchipsagain
I’m not too sure what they have online, but when I was in the shop last week they had Byoma dupes, Colour WOW dupes, and some other good stocking fillers

Did they have initial ones too? With a new addition I was hoping to find one this year to match!

B&M have initial ones

Rubyroo73 · 08/11/2024 23:38

@purplepandas tesco sell them. In the tea aisle, single sachet and boba is around £2.99 or there’s a bigger pack for around £8. Bought them last Xmas and regularly throughout the year!

TheHappiestChristmasTree · 08/11/2024 23:39

Does anyone know of any discounts for Vans shoes? I can only find codes for the outlet but the ones I need to buy are full price

Thank you @Flustration and @Thelifeofawife 😊I am now fully stocked up with about a years worth of toiletries, and while I was dithering the coconut Hi Smile came into stock, so for once my procrastination paid off!

I also found these, which I think will be great for DS.

@Scout2016 she has actually been using my vintage singer, adapted to use electric, which isn’t ideal & I have been looking for one for her birthday which is 3 days after Christmas! She also does gymnastics and is crafty which is probably why it was my first thought!

My sister had a Brother brand sewing machine as her first machine and that lasted years and years and loads of projects (the whole family used it). Also, you can usually get them fixed at sewing shops like taking them to the mechanic lol so don’t just assume a machine is done for if it goes wrong!

So, I think I am looking for a Brother myself if I can find a pretty one, or one of the JL ones as they do have very good reviews and are pretty!

Hi all new to the site. Found this after spending weeks reading frugal Christmas things online and trying to save as much as possible as money is so tight this year. What a brilliant thread.

I'd like to recommend a site called health service discounts for any healthcare workers out there. Lots of discount codes for lots of different places.

Also would anyone know if Nike do black Friday discounts or am I better just paying full price in case the item goes out of stock before Christmas?

Would anyone have an Argos code for a lesser spend? £30 or £40? Or does such a thing not exist?

I have a £5 off £40 if it’s any use to you.

IlovePond · 09/11/2024 00:44

@Crackersnap - Nike do a 10% birthday discount so it’s worth setting up an account with them.

Last year Nike did 25% off everything!!

Crackersnap · 09/11/2024 02:17

Thank you @Disneyland2022 and @IlovePond. Will maybe keep checking back then I've added the item to my basket so will wait and see what black Friday deals they have. I have a Nike account already unfortunately my birthday was many months ago or I would have had that code to use.

Also wanted to say home bargains had some annuals in at £2.99. Cheaper than the works which were 2 for £8 or £5 each. Sorry if that was mentioned already but I spotted those today and thought I'd share.
