@NobodyGivesADamn thanks for the title

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I would love this please if still available, kids had a great time today ticking off all the gifts they’d like in the catalogue

Sorry it's already gone.

Felith · 02/11/2024 23:28

Some of those awful zuru machines smasher things are on offer at Argos for what looks to be a good price. It's a giant plastic thing that the child opens and there are bags with bits of tat hidden in slime/kinetic sand/assorted mess generators. Very much a toy the child will love you for and the parents will hate you for.

Bit niche but anyone seen any gifts with shamrocks or possibly anything with an Irish theme. For an older lady rather than a teen type gift. I was sure I’d seen really nice crockery but could possibly have dreamt it. Up for any suggestions x

Hi, I saw some socks on Amazon but don't know how to link without it showing my account, so I searched them again and was going to copy and paste the name here. I pasted the description in the search bar to make sure I had the right results and a few more came up on that page. I hope I've made sense!!! The search I used was: Women's Irish Shamrock Four Leaf Clover Embroidered Super Soft Thermal Bed Socks

beetr00 · 03/11/2024 00:25

@Openmouthinsertfood

these?

Openmouthinsertfood · 03/11/2024 00:27

Yup, they're the ones @beetr00 Thank you. Xmas Smile

@Thelifeofawife if you happen to live near a HC outlet, ours has the latte sachet boxes on 2 for £12 for the velvetiser. Might be a nice treat if your DS prefers coffee now.

Thank you, that’s a great idea! I was at the outlet recently but didn’t even think to go into HC, I’ll be visiting again before Christmas though so I’ll hopefully get fixed up

@Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday

It was me looking for mini fridge. Thank you so much. Do you actually have it and can you recommend?

I’ve not seen any mini fridges myself but there was a post on here recently about B&M doing a white one with an LED mirror on the door for £35. I believe B&M do other styles as well

Thelifeofawife · 03/11/2024 01:49

@Beingacatbed Ive always found out velvetiser hot choc to be hot, not boiling but that suits me, and of course suits the DC so they don’t have to wait ages for it to cool down. That said, if you wanted it hotter you could just give it a second blast.

MamaBearH · 03/11/2024 01:52

DS has asked for one thing & one thing only for Christmas -a ps5 steering wheel with pedals. Any ideas on best place to source? Money has become tight recently but I'd really like to find this for him.

Summertime1992 · 03/11/2024 06:29

I think the beauty bags vary slightly per person. My £30 VIP festival one is slightly different to the one pictured.

These ones are sold out now, but I am tempted by the £150 one given the names in that box noted in the description.

@Givealittlebit Hobby Craft have Hama beads on their 3 for 2 and there is 20% off a £40 spend at the minute.

I would highly recommend actual Hama brand.

Eta: this looks like a decent price too:

Lego - Very have Main Street for £60 at the moment - it’s usually £125 and as far as I know it’s never dropped below £75 so a good main present for any lego fans. Chamber of secrets £75 too.

Thanks for this, bought the main street. What a great price for a massive set at over 50% off RRP. Bought for 7 year old DS who likes to make buildings with Lego, it's 9+ but I think he will love it and I was a bit stuck for what would be his main present.

Filterphobia · 03/11/2024 07:42

@MamaBearH we bought a gaming steering wheel on Vinted recently, they allow sale of electrical items now.

IamChipmunk · 03/11/2024 07:43

Hype have some good offers.

it's currently 3 for 2 with a lot of reductions on top of that.

If you are looking at a bundle buy the bits separately!
I ordered dd a bag, lunch box and water bottle all matching. The bundle is on the website 'reduced' to £54 but I paid £30.98 by not buying* *the bundle and adding the 3 separate items. Because I got 3 for 2 and each was also reduced.

Just to say the top one 'Christmas in Exeter Street' is an absolute fave of ours i got after seeing it recommended on mumsnet. DD is 10 and still absorbs it every year. She even retrieved it from her xmas box last week when i was rummaging in the loft for something. I have bought many times for gifts. Currently £3.60.

@MamaBearH what's your budget, how old is DS and does he already have a gaming chair? (Some wheels/pedals for on certain chairs)

Cupofteaandbiscuits · 03/11/2024 08:26

Ahhh went on holiday and missed a whole thread!
DC are writing to Santa today as we do this in half term so that Santa has time to pay for the items!

@Myattention thank you, I love tarte so took a look. Decided against the tarte but have ordered 2 of the lay flat makeup bags which is the 2nd TSV. £14.95 each, free delivery! These are perfect for who I have in mind.

I'm after some hot wheels advice/deals if anyone has any.
Eldest DD has been asking for a few months, so I was thinking to get one track type set and a few cars. I didn't want to spend too much as I'm not sure where this request has come from, and she's already getting an over budget main gift.

But...I really like the look of the Mario hot wheels. Not adverse to second hand so will also be looking on vinted - it's sometimes hard to tell on there if you're getting a good price or it its inflated for a rare item etc.

TheBigFish · 03/11/2024 08:50

Can any vegans on here please advise if they would not want to be gifted alpaca fleece for nesting birds? I find DF and his partner so so hard to buy for and thought this may be good. But don't want to offend or gift something they won't use. I know vegans may not wear alpaca wool but wasn't sure if they would use ethically sourced fleece to help birds?! Now there's a question I never thought I would have to consider...

Cex would be your friend. They come with two years guarantee which is often better than manufacturer
