@NobodyGivesADamn thanks for the title

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I want to get a coffee maker for someone, but think the Vertuo pods are too expensive. Anyone know the best machine to get her that has cheaper pods. Thanks

I think it depends what sort of coffee your friend drinks. We have 2 machines for that very reason! We have a tassimo for the latte type coffee drinks the teens like and an original nespresso pod machine (not the vertuo) for straight coffee. When my last nespresso machine died I tried using the plain black coffee tassimo pods but was disappointed.

Sallylovesdaisy · 31/10/2024 23:25

@Flustration thanks so much. Sounds like the Tassimo will be just the job, as I'm sure that Latte type coffee will suit. I'll have a look properly tomorrow, tho I have signed up for Tassimo emails etc and will get a discount on first order

Allthingspeaches · 31/10/2024 23:25

@Nowdontmakeamess Cuisinart had a sale. Cordless smoothie maker down to £20. They also had waffle makers, food processors etc down to £20-£40ish. Not sure if sale is still on.

DH is after a new dressing gown, £49 from m&S 😮 I have a 15% off sparks offer right now - do you think I should cash in on that or m&S may do a better generic offer at some point does anyone have any insider info??

I would buy now with that discount.

Can anyone recommend some swimming flippers. For age 12, these are the kind you can put on indoors in a swimming pool. a decent pair required, for a good swimmer.

Maru seems to be the brand sold by swim suppliers but you'll need to know shoe size.
If they swim for/with a club it's worth finding out what the coaches recommend and they may even have a shop selling these items - often cheaper than you can buy direct.

DH only drinks black coffee and loves his Tassimo, which he's had for many years. We mainly buy the Kenco American Grande pods.

Can anyone recommend where to get a white women’s dressing gown from please. Needs to be XL and “the sort you’d put on after a shower/bath but nice and soft and luxurious” was the brief!

Hi any ideas for makeup for an 8 year old girl? I've got a delivering joy tag and that's what she's asked for

I got some nice sets from Superdrug for my daughter a few weeks ago. I think it was their equivalent to Boots £10 Tuesdays but it was a Friday and possibly £5 deals.

@Delahot I got my auntie one from M&S a few years back - still going strong, it wasn’t this exact one but v similar and comes in different colours although I just went for the White ☺️

I have a White Company one that fulfils those criteria (assuming you mean a towelling one), or Cristy would be another good brand.

Free £8 gift cards for national trust cafes or shops (includes online i think) to gift to 4 people through o2 priority. Bit of a faff as you have to download an app but doesn't take long.

Pandagram · 01/11/2024 06:48

Thank you to the people who recommended places to buy football kits. Fingers crossed I should have a few arriving before Christmas.

Sadly they only seem to sell the actual kits, has anyone seen anywhere selling track suits like this one for not extortionate prices?

Voiceofreason92 · 01/11/2024 07:01

@Pandagram i'm on a facebook group called Kits and bits. They do loads of kits and tracksuits that are really good quality. I got a man city and man utd one for my sons last year and they are very robust and still going strong after a year

Perhaps it's just our machine then? TBH it is pretty ancient! I did try the Kenco pods but just couldn't seem to get a decent crema.

Oh, that's another plus point for the Tassimo. It has outlived 2 nespresso pod machines!

WeMeetInFairIthilien · 01/11/2024 08:29

Quiiiicccck!!!

Magic Mixies blue lamp is £30 off, down to £20 in Argos today.

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3376078?clickSR=slp:term:magic%20mixies:10:202:1

Usually £50, occasionally seen at £35. I've been watching it since the summer and it is the lowest I've seen.

For those not in the know, they are "potion" kits, where you add the different ingredients in the box, something visually exciting happens (in this case, mist and fog) and then a toy magically appears.

The lamp and cauldron have soft toys (plus the crystal ball, but we've not had that). The bottles have a hard bodied, long haired dolly, and the smaller kits have little plastic magical animals.

Often, Amazon also have the refill kits going cheaply, so you can make the lamp send out 'steam' again

My DD (8) and DNiece (5) are obsessed with them!

FilthyforFirth · 01/11/2024 08:47

I put the lego in my basket at £9 and at checkout it changed to £17, booo!

Has anyone got their christmas labels from tinyme? Mine still haven't arrived..

Ewock · 01/11/2024 08:49

I've just done the same with the lego. Will keep an eye on it as that's such a good price
