Sorry - I panicked with the title Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I’m on a quiz book hunt this evening! Good stocking filler here. National Geographic Kids quiz book. 50% off, this one’s £3, while others are nearly full price.

We got a couple of these when they were in Lidl earlier this year. My 7 & 9 year olds love them

My 7 year old has decided she wants a 3D printer 😳. I could stretch to a 3D pen - can anyone recommend one, even better if it’s one that it’s cheap and easy to get the refills for?

Our 7yo is a 3d pen wizard, it’s quite cool the things she makes.
as far as brands go I’m not sure, but we went with one that prints PCL as it has a lower melting point so not as hot a pen tip/plastic. Most refills are PLA so you need to be careful which you’re buying - you can get big refills of all the colours off amazon.

worth checking how the pen works as well - we have one you flip on with a slide switch and the other you have to hold the trigger down continually, which is obviously a pain

YeahWellWhyNot · 25/10/2024 07:32

@Famousthehero can't vouch for quality but I have looked at this for my 7yo. Half price ATM at Smyth's for £15 3d pen

Famousthehero · 25/10/2024 07:37

Tag above for @sillygoof :-)

@sillygoof I got dd the 3doodler pen last year and she really likes it although it hasn’t had much use to be fair after she begged for one. It went on offer for Black Friday I believe from their main website but it’s also sold in Smyths. I also have seen one in Lidl the last couple of years but don’t know how well they work.

@sillygoof we got this one for my 8yo last year, it’s been a hit. I got it for about £30 so worth watching the price.

I’m normally a lurker but promise I don’t steal any codes!
I’m on the lookout for giant squishmallows, 20 inch ones, we got one last year reduced from £50 to £30 I think it was in Tesco and it apparently needs a friend….I don’t think we need any more cuddly toys but Father Christmas apparently doesn’t agree! So if anyone sees the huge ones reduced please shout.

thanks for all your help!

Has anyone seen any nice Christmas children's plate bowl and cups? I've previously bought melamine sets although we broke one last year and we now have to factor in my just turned 2 year old. Not baby baby ones as my eldest is 7 but if anyone has seen nice childrens themed sets or ones that can be bought individually I'd really appreciate a shout out!

Asda usually have some nice Christmas plates etc

🎄Just wanted to share an idea for Christmas gifting which went down so well last year that I will be repeating again this year. I sent teeny Christmas trees from Bloom & Wild to my mum, aunts and mother in law to be delivered on (or around) 1 December. They start from £27 and come with pot and little lights / decorations and can then be replanted outside in a pot after the festive season.

if you haven’t ordered from Bloom & Wild before you can use a referral code to get £10 off your first order which takes the price down to only £17, which is far cheaper than sending a reasonable bunch of flowers. Have to confess I may have used more than one email address so save £10 a couple of times 😃

it actually gave me so much joy sending these little trees as a surprise for my family that I’ve decided to send myself one this year. Last year I felt I couldn’t justify it when i was sending them to others but this year I’m ordering mine first and i know it will start my Christmas season well.

I will post a link to some of the tiny trees below, but remember you will find a code on the referrals board.

www.bloomandwild.com/send-flowers/tagonly/trees-wreaths

Thanks so much for this. My parents have had a rubbish year and said they arnt celebrating Christmas or putting a tree up. I think this will really make them smile
