You know, I always thought I was being terribly organised and frugal buying all the Christmas sweets in the run up. But you're right, some inevitably get eaten and have to be repurchased. I'm actually going to leave it all until the Christmas shop. And then I won't over buy.

I'll stock up on the savoury bits. Chutneys, crackers.

StressedQueen · 14/10/2024 19:51

Nothing specifically for Christmas because I know it would be gone before November even started...but this is what we are planning to buy and normally get:

Chocolate coins
Celebrations
Lindor chocolate
Christmas pringles
Cheese twists
Mini sausages

RabbitsRock · 14/10/2024 19:54

Ooh black pepper cashews! I need these in my life!
Gone right off Quality Street!

Isthiscorrect · 14/10/2024 19:59

Three flavours of chocolate orange (one each)
2 marzipan bars, one each for Ds and DH to decorate for Christmas cake (no one eats Christmas cake in this house)
Dark chocolate covered marzipan chocs (anyone sensing a theme here)
An chocolate advent calendar
2 packets of biscuits.
A multi packet of twiglets

Some foil trays so I can get stuff in the freezer
Muslin for wrapping the turkey
100 yards of narrow gold ribbon to hang the decorations on the tree and elsewhere.

StormingNorman · 14/10/2024 20:02

goingdownfighting · 14/10/2024 20:36

4 packets of Thomas fudge florentines. £1.99 a pack in home bargains.

Phase2 · 14/10/2024 20:58

Four tins (celebrations, heroes, quality street, m and s mix) champagne, no secco, advent calendars.
Need to get Pringles, peanuts, tree decs- realised ages ago mine don't eat cake or biscuit.

GettingStuffed · 14/10/2024 21:12

I've done three taste tests. First hazelnut matchmakers, very nice and I more or less ate the whole packet in one go. Lidl chocolate hazelnut biscuits far too dry, just about ok with a cup of coffee. Gingerbread mulled wine, lidl again, nice and dry but you could add sugar if you want.

We've nothing in apart from wine as we don't know where we'll be at Christmas.

PinkArt · 14/10/2024 21:17

Three flavours, @WitchyBits?! THREE! Oh Christmas really has arrived.
My local Iceland was the last place I found them but they seemed to have phased them out. I'll have to check them out asap. Thank you, thank you.

Chillilounger · 14/10/2024 21:33

Nothing yet. I am trying to do 50% non upf treats this year to make it realistic, so a lot will be home baking. I am soaking fruit in booze for the Christmas cake which I will make in a few days, I will do a few batches of mince pies and start biscotti making in December. I make Stollen, and may see how it freezes this year as I can eat that stuff all day! I love Montezuma chocolate buttons. I will however indulge in Lindt chocolate balls and chocolate Florentines and chocolate Brazil's......

Prescottdanni123 · 14/10/2024 21:37

Snowflake pretzels, mini marshmallows and magic stars for Christmas trail mix.

Linda reindeers and teddies

After eight mints

Festive bakewells

MaryGreenhill · 14/10/2024 22:00

Bailey's
Lindt red balls
Lebkuchen
Cheese footballs
Very Merry Munch
Carr's cheese crackers
Tin of shortbread
Reece's pieces

Redkatagain · 14/10/2024 22:12

Dan cakes rum balls were purchased this year from Morrisons

Sorbiecorner · 15/10/2024 06:59

So far I have two bags of the marks and Spencer very berry munch stuff. I have also bought two bags of the Tesco white chocolate and raspberry party mix. I have biscuits for cheese but that’s all so far.

I am not going overboard this year. A lot was wasted last year. I’ll start to pick up party food when I see it for the freezer. We quite enjoy that with some soup for lunch. I’ll get some decent crisps and the rest such as dips and cheese closer to the time.

OldTinHat · 15/10/2024 08:08

I made a start with a tub of Celebrations.

I've eaten them already 🤭

TianasBayou · 15/10/2024 08:16

I'll be popping into John Lewis to refill our Quality street tin although they are shit and no longer shiny cos it's tradition.
Last year I left it too late and our tin was mostly toffee pennies, coffee creams and fudge sorry not sorry

I've bought 3 mint-flavour Terrys Chocolate Oranges.
And have last years Xmas pudding.
And the Christmas cake is made and being liberally dosed in rum.

Will buy stock up in Aldi/Lidl with
Jam filled Lebkuchen
Finest mince pies (already taste-tested Wink)
Rum and raisin marzipan
Festive crisps and pretzels

And all the cheese.

And a gammon joint to slow cook for naice ham.

And bake at home baguettes for epic sandwiches.

Dazzlerazzlee · 15/10/2024 08:19

I'm trying less this year as I do eat it! Posh nuts (tesco have some dreamy looking ones) and probs a smaller thing of Hero's. I still have a tube of After Eights from last year 😂

Alongthepineconetrail · 15/10/2024 08:21

Nothing will be bought before the school breaks up for Christmas. There's no point in wasting money buying it early & then buying it all again

OnlyHereForTheChristmasBoard · 15/10/2024 08:22

2 packs of M&S Very Merry Munch tin refills. Turkish Delight. Baileys. Chocolate coins and chocolate Santa for DS stocking. 2 Toblerones (1 almond and 1 caramac flavour). A few pouches of Mr Filbert's nuts and olives. A good, solid marzipan bar coated in dark chocolate. M&S chocolate tree decorations. M&S chocolate biscuits.

kalokagathos · 15/10/2024 08:25

Nothing 😀 ( I need to control my sugar as not far from pre-diabetic levels 😬

OnlyHereForTheChristmasBoard · 15/10/2024 08:25

Oh, and Bendick's mints. Hamper lives in garage, nothing gets eaten until work and school have broken up.

frozendaisy · 15/10/2024 08:40

Fairyliz · 14/10/2024 17:30

I’ve bought Baileys does that count as a snack?

It counts as a dessert or acceptable milk substitute in coffee if you don't have to drive any more that day

I8toys · 15/10/2024 09:47

Marks have bags of chocolate in the chocolate aisle. Chocolate covered pistachios, mango, blond caramelised pecans and bags of swiss chocolate nutty clouds. So many different types. They are amazing. I'm putting in a hamper.

They've also bought out a chocolate advent I got at the weekend with the whips, buttons and fudges.

Leeds2 · 15/10/2024 11:03

Where are the Christmas flavour crisps from, please?

Marks and Spencer are good for these.
