Thanks @Felith for the title!

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

SIL loves Neal yard but slightly on pricey side for me. Anyone know if they do a sale before Christmas? Or how to possibly get a good buy? Many thanks in advance you Christmas Kings and Queens!

Would the bath barista work for a 4 year old? We don't actually have many bath toys for my youngest as over time they've all been used / binned / lost over the years by the eldest!

Often we just use normal toys in the bath!

I've just bought this for ny nearly 4 year old but my dd who is 6, always pretends to make slushies/milkshakes in the bath with the bubbles so hoping it works for her too!

Waitrose often have good percentages off, as does Amazon on lots of NY stuff

LovethewonderofChristmas · 11/10/2024 22:34

@Montanna15 they were either in an aisle with other toiletry sets or in an aisle with bathroom bits. They were not in the Christmas aisles, hope that helps.

Fancyateapottea · 11/10/2024 22:36

@Spaceracers I’ve brought this as a present for my 4 YO who is still very much into making us pretend cups of teas etc. Pretty sure my 7 YO will mess around with it too.

@IggyAce it's a great site for discounts! You can actually search by the biggest discounts, which is an option I love

https://www.lookfantastic.com/p/calvin-klein-eternity-moment-eau-de-parfum-100ml/11210303/

This one is 70% off, down from £92 to £27!

Definitely worth looking at prices elsewhere when you find things that claim to have such large discounts as the discounted price is more in line with the average elsewhere in this case.

IggyAce · 11/10/2024 22:46

Been to IKEA this evening and they have lots of lovely wrapping paper and decorations, they also have gingerbread houses and tins of biscuits. I’ve attached a couple of pictures of the wrapping paper.

ArthurChristmas22 · 11/10/2024 22:50

Has anyone bought snacks boxes from Amazon please? There a lot from Japan, Korea, Turkey. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations. Thinking of buying a couple to split across stockings.

lingmerth · 11/10/2024 23:55

Posted this on previous thread. Wondered why not one reply!
Has anyone ordered from TheVault co.com? Looking to buy ultra mini black Ugg's for my daughter and they're priced at £119 instead of £145 at all other places. Just wondered if they're legit.

I bought this for my 20 year old (!!!!)’s birthday last month and she loved it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B09GJXK4RQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

She was the one who originally named the unicorn Robert!

I've been given the Sakura box as a gift as well and really enjoyed it. I usually buy myself snacks from Asian supermarkets as well but they had so many unusual and interesting things in there that I've never tried

RJnomore1 · 12/10/2024 00:54

I thought it was great for £10 too. Theres 15 things in it and a little leaflet to explain them all

I think you might be looking at smaller bottles?

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 12/10/2024 04:59

It’s definitely not bargianous but I have a 20% off code for full priced needle and thread orders if anyone wants to give it a go I will PM it to them. The email says it’s a unique code for messing up my wedding dress order. Their clothes are beautiful but way out of my price range for everyday wear.

mummydoris2006 · 12/10/2024 05:57

@IggyAce thankyou so much to you and your DH, 3 bottles ordered for family members presents 😊

Onemoret1me · 12/10/2024 06:25

I’m looking for a Dyson hairdryer and the instax camera. Does anyone know if they’re likely to reduce in price or be included in Black Friday sales?
Trying to decide whether to buy now or hold off in the hope of a better price.

Edited for spelling

sunshinyday12 · 12/10/2024 06:35

This is not so much a bargain on gifts but a tip on wrap if you live near a Waitrose. My eco conscious SIL has always wrapped everything in newspaper. I did this once and added colourful ribbon which could be reused but some of the stories on the paper did not feel very festive. I then discovered Waitrose Weekend magazine which is free to pick up each week, and in the run up to Christmas is covered in lovely pics of Christmas food and recipes etc. paired with bright ribbon it works a treat! Also slightly thicker than normal newspaper. I start collecting one a week around now Smile

IamChipmunk · 12/10/2024 07:02

@lingmerth yes I have. I brought some black ugg classics in Aug from there as they were cheapest by far. No issues. Took about 10 days as they shipped from Australia but came straight through with regular shipping updates.

If they are fake I can't tell! They had the correct box etc as other Uggs I have bought have...

Blessedbethefruitz · 12/10/2024 07:06

@Onemoret1me Not the camera, but for the paper, you can get slight bargains I'd bet at black friday. I got 50 sheets for £20ish on prime day which is the cheapest I've seen it, so I stocked up! Anything less than 50p per sheet is a bargain tbh.

Delahot · 12/10/2024 07:32

Trying to find a single duvet cover for my 14 year old DD for Christmas (at her request!) I wanted to get one with a decent thread count but can only find ones that are plain white and wanted something a bit more fancy. Any good ideas where to look?

Delahot · 12/10/2024 07:35

Not sure if this has been mentioned but the Star Gifts in Boots at the minute are looking good.. Mario Badescu set is a hit with teens for skincare and the Estée Lauder 8 hour set is down from £75 to £27. Don’t forget Top Cashback too.

Delahot · 12/10/2024 07:41

Another quick question. I need to buy a backgammon set but would like to get a nice one to keep. Any ideas? Budget flexible

MamaK19 · 12/10/2024 07:55

Did I imagine it or is there a discount code floating around for Notino? I’ve signed up to their newsletter in hopes I would get a new customer discount but nothing through yet, I have a perfume in my basket that is already so much cheaper than anywhere else so not too worried but also these threads have turned me into a right bargain hunter 🫣🤣🤣🤣
