Thanks @Felith for the title!

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

If you're not spending £100 at Bargain Max to get the £13 off, I was sent a code for 10% off (don't think there is a minimum spend)

Code is helloagain

Thank you to everyone who replied to my crocodile post. 🐊
The post that mentioned the owl pellets from a previous year, sounds interesting,
Does anyone remember the site and cost ?

@Reastie giving you a wee heads up on the next thread. Going so fast this year 😱😱

@wonderingwhatsnext , I've used Candles direct for Yankee candles and Woodwicks on several occasions, they're really good prices and have lots on special offer.

Postage is a flat rate of £3.95 though, but you could offset that a bit by signing up for their emails for 10% off your first order.

Went RL shopping tonight. B&M have large squishmallows down to £10, medium ones £5

wonderingwhatsnext · 17/10/2024 20:51

Thanks for all the candle advice. I'm going to check them out now

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best cheapest place to buy large Yankee candles? Dbro has an requested some for a pre Christmas birthday. He lives with an elderly, flatulent dog so the stronger the scents the better!

Woodwick candles are really lovely and a large one I’ve had in my basket on Amazon was reduced by 43% to £18:66 and an extra 5% if you can buy 4 items in this offer

Just to add, B&M do some amazing candles. One in a brown jar called ‘Restore’ smells fantastic, lasts ages and makes the whole house smell amazing. Think it’s £3.99!

CarrieMoonbeams · 17/10/2024 21:22

I love the Woodwicks too @LDB1985 . I always buy one at this time of year, it's a wee ritual of mine where I light the candle and get myself all comfy with a book, several snoring dogs and a glass of wine. I listen to the crackling of the candle and try to pretend we have a real fire!

Me too re: pretending it’s a real fire! I was hoping for a good reduction and was really chuffed with this price! Hope it’s saved you some pennies too @CarrieMoonbeams

Some real life shopping today in M&S. Some of these looked like decent discounts.
There was more, but I didn't get any more photos.

Thermal Printerhttps://amzn.eu/d/2qd0tCn Thermal printer down to £17.99 on a lightning deal

I think there was a 5% off voucher tick box too - I can't see it anymore as I've already claimed

Yalz · 17/10/2024 21:47

Is that actually M&S, @WideFootWelly ?

I haven't been in a bricks-and-mortar one for a couple of years (illness) and they must have changed a lot.

I still do a lot of online M&S shopping, though.

I doubted myself as I posted it, as I went in a couple of shops. But I'm pretty sure it was - but it was the big one in Westfield Stratford so might not be normal.

Thank you, I’ve been looking for more ‘natural’ candles. I love the fragrances but worry about the ‘pollution’

WeMeetInFairIthilien · 17/10/2024 22:52

Just a small selection of the hot chocolate offerings in B&M today.

On that note, I don't eat gelatine, has anyone seen a hot chocolate bombe that has vegetarian marshmallows inside?

Failing that, hot chocolate toppers? Thin discs of chocolate that you put on top of the hot chocolate? Had them once, years ago, seem to remember they were a nice brand, but haven't seen any. B&M had chocolate and mallow ones, but no good to me. I'm just not so keen on the stirrers, and many have marshmallows in them anyway.
