Thanks @Felith for the title!

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I went real life shopping today to an outlet village, I was really impressed with the Paul Costelloe bags and purses, and would make lovely gifts. Just checked to see if there is a clearance section online too and there is https://www.paulcostelloebags.com/clearance/

There is also an outlet section on the website.

Edited

It’s a great shop. I bought 2 handbags for Christmas presents for £29 each instead of £150. I have bought from there before and it’s nice quality.

oriel2013 · 13/10/2024 09:15

Hi all, just seen Turtle doves free gloves offer is now with a spend of £25. I've only seen it at £30 or above before

Twonka · 13/10/2024 09:15

a better way to stop filing up the thread unnecessarily is instead of posting ‘found you’ or ‘checking in’, just click on the downward triangle thing and click watch thread..

also means you can click on the bottom of the screen in the (funnel??!!?) icon to see threads you are watching

IggyAce · 13/10/2024 09:18

Hello!

Looking for skincare recommendations for my kids. Ages between 11 and 18. None have breakouts or particularly troublesome skin. Oldest does get psoriasis but that’s on her torso and never her face.

Realise that some skincare isn’t suitable for their ages but I’d like to get them something they’d be excited about. Looking for items suitable for 11 &13 year olds and an 18 year old. Thank you

The skin care obsessed children in my family love all things Bubble, but I think that would be suitable for the younger end, not the 18 year old.

OnionBag · 13/10/2024 09:42

@redjoker your link isn’t working

@issantahereyet I picked these up in TKMaxx today, peach flavoured marshmallows with some juicy goo inside 😋 £2, individually wrapped (mentioning because I will need to stash some to save me accidentally eating the full bag 🙈) and do recommend for a sweet hit!

Ooo you sometimes get chocolate ones of these in tk too- so good.

I have used back market a couple of times now to buy reconditioned iPhones. Both times service was quick and the items were in immaculate condition. I will use them again. I have popped a code on the referral thread for £10 off your first order.

That’s amazing, thank you ☺️

I have been guilty of requests for help.
But this happens most years and I enjoy the chats and friendly nature of it. It gets dull if only posting discount codes etc.

I agree

People enjoy the friendly chat and sharing ideas @sorryiasked

@Bumblebeesince19 @TheRedheadMummy
There are lots of other threads on the Christmas talk pages re suggestions for eg men, teen girls, stocking fillers, advent calendars etc.
These bargain threads fill up so quickly anyway could we please just stick to bargains spotted and associated chat, rather than general requests for help? (Reindeers with scarves excepted 🙂)

Wow.. never had someone so rude to be honest. I was asking for ideas and I’m sure people would be sharing discounts / deals.

so just to clarify I’m not allowed to ask for ideas but someone else is?

thanks to those who have helped. I guess I’ll go somewhere else this year

Please don't take one posters words to heart. Most of us are only too happy to help with ideas and I've managed to get some great gifts from other peoples ideas.

Ilovepugs2017 · 13/10/2024 08:58

Can anyone suggest where & when would be the best time to buy stronger with you aftershave for teen DS? His list doesn’t consist of many items this year but they are expensive items like a Ralph Lauren quarter zip jumper and joggers 😬

Have you got an outlet place near you? Bicester have a Ralph Lauren, it’s normally worth a trip if your after a few bits

sorryiasked · 13/10/2024 10:28

In my defence I've been here for many many years. None of us mind specific requests for help and ideas, and are only to happy to assist (search my posts and you'll see that I do this regularly). My point was that such open ended requests for suggestions do take over this bargain thread in the same way that the annual debate on different oodies and tonies etc do, and there are other threads running in the Christmas board that already cover these.
I'm sorry if I upset anyone, that wasn't my intention.

I agree. I don't have a lot of time to trawl through the entire Christmas board, but do like picking up suggestions on here.

I signed up to vip me with Hotel Chocolat supposed to get 15% off your first order but can’t see it in the app? Any ideas 🤔thanks

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 13/10/2024 11:01

@marshmallowmix
they emailed mine a few hours later.

Siouxtse1 · 13/10/2024 11:04

If anyone is still looking for the Lego Creator camera it's currently £13.50 in Sainsburys. If they are out of stock, Argos have the same product with a RED20 code for £14.40.

Ocean59 · 13/10/2024 11:08

Just had an email from Lakeland saying 20% off heated throws. Doesn't seem to need a code.

@sorryiasked i cringed for you when I read your post, it doesn’t matter how many years you’ve been on the thread. You don’t get to police it and who is this ‘us’ you speak of. It is a public forum.
