Thanks @Felith for the title!

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I think this is what I’m going to end up doing. Men are so hard and my husband is genuinely just a “oh don’t worry about me, get the kids” 🙄 but he does so much for us, I like to get him a treat.

That's so sweet. My DH is useless, I end up buying stuff, handing it to him and tell him to wrap it for my birthday/Christmas.

IlovePond · 12/10/2024 23:16

@Blessedbethefruitz - lock picking kit?

halloweenscat · 12/10/2024 23:20

Anyone come across cheap, cheerful, and extremely random gadgets? Me and dp do a 'joke' gift each year, he's had a can opener, hair drain unclogger, etc, in previous years. The gist is will be used, but weird out of context. I'm stumped this year...

Edit to add he has also had a nose hair trimmer (which was requested several times, I'm not mean) ;)

Mouse jiggler- for a computer mouse? Keeps your computer active and stops it going to sleep.

I'm not sure where you can get them now but a battery operated spinning fork! I got one several years ago for DH with a giant noodle bowl, he was loving supernoodles at the time!

Alternatively dh has enjoyed a back scratcher, small back massager from tiger.

Plunger? I got a great one from amazon!

Phone/wireless headphone cleaning kit?

One of those electric lighters for candles/cookers?

Torch. Can never have too many!

Screwdriver with variety of different sized heads inside it. I love our one! So much easier than loads of screwdrivers!

lingmerth · 12/10/2024 23:46

@IamChipmunk thanks. Still undecided. Haven't looked at the cost of postage yet.

Hey everyone 👋
finally finished shopping for DS and DSS&gf.

now onto men. What are you all getting the men this year? Who want nothing when asked… and need nothing.. but can’t be left out! My imagination is running slim. 🫠🫠

So far I've bought DH a multi-tool (saw one being used on a programme about model railways and commented that one would have been useful for some of his building projects) and the endoscope inspection camera previously recommended here.
Then we have got into a tradition where he has a stocking with the following: Viz annual; box of shortbread; box of chocolates; cycling or cycling themed socks; another book but haven't found one yet and up until now a cycling themed t-shirt but he wears clothes untl they die and he's still got a couple of brand new t-shirts in his drawer (yes, his hobby is cycling). He's also had cycle themed mugs in the past.
At this time of year, I try to put a ban on him buying anything for himself but it's so difficult, especially with Amazon Prime where you can place lots of orders without paying anything extra for postage!

Smileatthesmallthings · 13/10/2024 00:01

@Blessedbethefruitz one of the boiled egg timers you put in the pan. Don't know how they work, but they do and I use mine regularly.

Solmum1964 · 13/10/2024 00:14

@Blessedbethefruitz if you have a Nespresso (or similar) coffee machine how about one of these for emptying the pods so you can recycle them (coffee in the compast and foil in the recycling) https://www.hotelchocolat.com/uk/podcycler.html
Only £3.88. Bought one for MIL last year.

Podcycler

@Blessedbethefruits I love this website although some of the things are cheaper if you have Prime. I've just given the link to DH for Christmas in case he can't think of anything. Dd16 also loves it too: she's getting the heatproof gloves this year (last year was the defrosting chopping board).

halloweenscat · 11/10/2024 10:39

What's a shower steamer?

Hi @halloweenscat its like a bath bomb but you use it in the shower.

IggyAce · 13/10/2024 06:08

So far for MrIggy I’ve got his fcuk shower gel and body wash, bottle of whiskey. He is a photographer and has request the 3in 1 Lego camera.

If you have a whiskey fan you could get this as a stocking filler or @Blessedbethefruitz might work as a gadget link

halloweenscat · 13/10/2024 07:01

@LovethewonderofChristmas that sounds strange but great!

Thanks so much for replying x

sorryiasked · 13/10/2024 07:03

@Bumblebeesince19 @TheRedheadMummy
There are lots of other threads on the Christmas talk pages re suggestions for eg men, teen girls, stocking fillers, advent calendars etc.
These bargain threads fill up so quickly anyway could we please just stick to bargains spotted and associated chat, rather than general requests for help? (Reindeers with scarves excepted 🙂)

Someaddedsugar · 13/10/2024 07:14

I've got three free HelloFresh boxes (completely free from what I understand) - one is for @psuedocream3 after I couldn't make it work last time but I have two left. If anyone wants them can you PM me an email address and I'll send to the first two that respond Smile

SnowJamz · 13/10/2024 07:25

I have been guilty of requests for help.
But this happens most years and I enjoy the chats and friendly nature of it. It gets dull if only posting discount codes etc.

Many people like to help posters out with gift ideas, it's all part of the general discussion in these threads.

Not a code stealing lurker (but very grateful for so many tips so far, especially Whistlefish). The Handmade Christmas Company has 35% off cotton lined Christmas sacks today only, with the code: COTTON35

winewolfhowls · 13/10/2024 07:57

Looking for a basketball hoop if anyone can recommend one they have experience with. There's obviously loads to choose from and I usually buy Decathlon.

tootsnwoocake · 13/10/2024 08:00

I have received a code from White Company. It may be single use but worth a try K8JFT7TZ8
I won't use it.
It gives 15% off full price items and free delivery with no minimum spend

okayhescereal · 13/10/2024 08:02

@SnowJamz @DirtyDensDog I agree!
