Thanks @Felith for the title!

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Paul Costelloe bags on QVC at the moment. I got one in TKmaxx for £40 it's so lovely. Such lovely leather and well made.

For the PP who asked about Hotel Chocolat, on QVC you can order the "Something for Everyone Christmas Collection" for £36.96, rrp £69 (+ £4.95 p&p)
https://www.qvcuk.com/product.835071.html

I've been looking at these today, so many asking about the BBE date on them as want to keep for Christmas, QVC so far giving a non committal generic answer.

Anyone with any experience of the QVC Hotel Chocolat TSV able to share what BBE dates are usually like? In previous years I've bought the selector packs TSVs and dates have been fine for beyond Christmas but from memory it's normally a little closer to Christmas when I've bought them.

Anyone have a Hotel Chocolat code? They are so ££ now…😮

I think if you're a VIP me member there are discounts for various levels of spend. Waitrose seem to do some boxes of their own chocolates that look similar, have good reviews and are much cheaper so I'm thinking of buying from there this year (especially as I may want stocking fillers for sons' partners).

With the Christmas packaging and reindeer selector pack, I'd expect the bbe date to be after Christmas, but you're right, they are very non-committal in their answers about it.

I was thinking the same, that surely they won't sell Christmas products with a BBE before Christmas, but you never know. Wonder if I take a chance and if they're delivered with a BBE that's too short then I can return them? Bit of a faff but they're a good price, ideal for splitting.

Waffle19 · 12/10/2024 21:55

This has probably been mentioned upthread as I’ve only scrolled back a few pages, but Argos have 20% off quite a few Lego sets at the moment.

InDreamland · 12/10/2024 21:59

I've just watched the video. They say "into the new year" and "end of January" so good for Christmas presents but not beyond and really need to be eating by end of Jan. Think I'll go for them as great for splitting for teacher gifts. Although wondering if teachers would prefer a Costa/Nero voucher instead.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 12/10/2024 21:59

According to QVC (looked on the app) The chocolates are best before end of January 2025.

Hey everyone 👋
finally finished shopping for DS and DSS&gf.

now onto men. What are you all getting the men this year? Who want nothing when asked… and need nothing.. but can’t be left out! My imagination is running slim. 🫠🫠

Delahot · 12/10/2024 07:32

Trying to find a single duvet cover for my 14 year old DD for Christmas (at her request!) I wanted to get one with a decent thread count but can only find ones that are plain white and wanted something a bit more fancy. Any good ideas where to look?

@Delahot they're quite pricey but Joe Browns do gorgeous winter/Christmas duvet sets with a good thread count

Lightseverywhere · 12/10/2024 15:56

I want to buy my 5yo DD some nice toiletries, hand cream, lip balm etc. Any suggestions that are nicely packaged etc?

I’ve got this for my daughter. It was actually £3 on sale…just seen some for £12 on eBay 😮. Looks like Asda have changed the packaging now and the new version is £5 but they may have some of the old in store.

they also have these lip balm and nail posh duo for £1.50

I do boring but needed things like new polo tops/sweaters/pyjamas. Hubby enjoys a drink so a bottle of something goes down well.

I think this is what I’m going to end up doing. Men are so hard and my husband is genuinely just a “oh don’t worry about me, get the kids” 🙄 but he does so much for us, I like to get him a treat.

Sallylovesdaisy · 12/10/2024 22:25

@TheRedheadMummy Just ordered DH a Bob Mortimer fishing hat, he's wanted one for ages so think he'll be well pleased, other than than I think it will be the normal boring stuff

Sorry 🙄, last comment I should have tagged @InDreamland

Anyone come across cheap, cheerful, and extremely random gadgets? Me and dp do a 'joke' gift each year, he's had a can opener, hair drain unclogger, etc, in previous years. The gist is will be used, but weird out of context. I'm stumped this year...

Edit to add he has also had a nose hair trimmer (which was requested several times, I'm not mean) ;)

I have got DS torches for his Crocs, mainly for a laugh.. but he will be able to navigate safely to the loo during the night!

Blessedbethefruitz · 12/10/2024 22:54

@Usernamepleasework I like that, but then I will need 3 as our kids are 2 and 5, and the oldest is already begging me to get him one and take him litter picking because they've done it at school...

Blessedbethefruitz · 12/10/2024 22:55

@OatFlatWhiteForMePlease I will investigate, this is suitably strange!

Help please- does anyone have any discounts on a Bambu 3d printer? Or can recommend a similar 3d printer? They are ridiculously expensive.

We have a bambu. Never saw a discount code for it but they always seem to be on sale on their website. I've seen the ender 3 recommended a lot on here so that may be worth looking at. Although will say DH is very pleased with his bambu.

Is the Fussy code still available please @BananaWoman999
I have shared one, I'll PM you one and then I'll have one left if anyone else wants it 🙂

Thanks BananaWoman999 - buuuuut...with apologies for a derail, I can't for the life of me work out how to see your response, I've got a message to say it exists but when I click on it, I get an error message. I can't see how to access the inbox otherwise. It's almost certainly me rather than the site, so if someone could quickly tell me how to open the message, I'd appreciate it!

@Blessedbethefruitz what about the endoscope that loads of us bought from last year's thread?
