Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@DeathStarCanteenGal @okayhescereal thank you,I’ve put it to watch. I had some success with a thread a couple of years ago but now out of ideas

FeltCarrot · 23/09/2024 13:14

@StrawberryThief1930 the osprey backpack is the one she is looking at, can I ask where you got yours from?
@okayhescereal am loving the idea of your sarong having so many memories.

DD is planning on travelling around Central America (as part of an organised tour) and then doing Thailand/Cambodia/Vietnam on her own.

BonaidMhoir · 23/09/2024 13:18

I finally got my 3 Papergang mystery boxes today. The envelope isn’t padded at all and was badly ripped - Post Office had to put it in a plastic bag. Am very pleased with the boxes as all are currently offered for the full price of £19.95 and thankfully none are damaged but it would make me think twice about ordering again

Ironically when I opened it I didn't like it 😂 its animal print and not my usual taste. But they gave it to me as I was boarding the train (very lovely colleagues who I saw outside of work) so I had no choice but to take it. However I hadn't packed another so started using it and I absolutely love it now. The colour means it goes with everything. It's been on every single trip that I've been on since the day I got it. Definitely my most worn item of clothing I own by a long mile!

Hi everyone

I’ve had a request for Palm Pink Puff hoodie - any one know anything about them?

From looking online they look around £60 which I share over budget for it’s a friends child - I’d pay up to £40 at a push. There does seem to be ones on Amazon very cheap, I presume these are fakes - but maybe they’d do - it’s for a 10 year old.

Any thoughts or other makes - not white fox though

I think I'd be tempted to go back and ask if they have a second choice of gift. She's likely seen them on tiktok and perhaps doesn't realise the true cost / hassle.

The ones for £60 (available via Famous Jackets website) say they are 'inspired by Pink Palm Puff' so I don't think they are real either. The official Pink Palm Puff website states they are the only official stockist and shows prices in $ (I think it's Hawaii based?) So you'd be talking shipping costs and taxes etc.

They are lovely, mind.

whereareyousleep · 23/09/2024 13:32

Beast lab was mentioned a few times on last years thread as one of the more popular presents that lots of kids were asking for that was overpriced. It's reduced to £34 just got one for my 6 year old. beastlab

Yes packaging was incredibly poor for me too. Post office had re packaged. Happy with the boxes but would think twice before buying again.

Thank you so much - I’ve no idea about this sort of thing.
Ok so PPP is out 😉

What would you buy a 10 year old girl around £40 -
she lives for pretty clothes, likes to be in ‘new’ things, art/making bracelets - but done this type of arty/bracelet present so many times -

please ideas for something gorgeous that a beautiful little 10 year old girl would love

nicky2512 · 23/09/2024 13:51

@Gracesquirrel That is such a brilliant idea. I’m going to copy and do the same for my mum! I do her shopping etc anyway and she always puts cards on her list but she’d love having them all together organised like that. Thank you.

@PMAmostofthetime

I followed this link and downloaded the app.

A few days later, I got a notification saying I’d been accepted. I’ve only had one survey, though 😹

Thanks to @Dreamingofwalden for the original tip!

These Monster Jam mudders are £3.50 at the moment; you put them in water to reveal the truck (can’t choose which truck you get).
a good price for those cars, and an extra bit of interest revealing it. Might get some more for my monster truck mad nearly 5yo.

Thanks for this, my 3 year old is car mad so bought it as a wee Xmas gift

FriYayyy · 23/09/2024 13:58

My papergang boxes have gone missing! FedEx claiming I have signed for them.

I've reported it missing again and now they are saying it was delivered to a non existent address in a town 40 miles away and signed for by me Confused

Bugger

Yeknom · 23/09/2024 14:17

@FeltCarrot in regards to a travel rucksack your daughter really needs to try them on for fit. She may also have a preference over a top/front loader.

Ear plugs and a lovely sleep mask would be essential as she'll most likely be in shared dorms.

Not sure on budget but a day trip/excursions for somewhere she's heading to could be cool. They'll be ideas on getyourguide.com

A duolingo pro membership could be quite cool if she wants to learn any of the languages before she goes?

RainbowZebraWarrior · 23/09/2024 14:44

Don't know if it's been posted already, but lots of Beetlejuice and Wednesday stuff in Sainsbury's. I also got a lovely Beetlejuice t shirt from M&S for DD

Anyone got a spare argos code please?

Wallawallakoala · 23/09/2024 14:48

Just bought a baby born storybook cottage for £15 in b&m and the doll for £4, it’s a lot more everywhere else and the playset is quite big!

Same one on Amazon for £24.99

I love how helpful everyone is on this thread, working together. ♥️

DirtyDensDog · 23/09/2024 15:06

Free delivery at Matalan ends today. Minimum spend £19.99

Lisamari99 · 23/09/2024 15:09

Boots has an "introductory offer" on selected food gifts, 25% off with code GIFTFOOD25, online only. Some lovely bits, chocolate, tea, biscuits. Lovely packaging!

Elpheba · 23/09/2024 15:11

@FeltCarrot this is a really good travel adapter- it fits any plug world wide and is powerful enough to charge a laptop using a usb and it- so no extra adapters needed. And whilst she may not need a laptop, it at least means all charging of devices is speedy and you can charge more than one thing at once.
The price does change- it will come down probably on prime day or Black Friday to around £30. amzn.eu/d/cJJvewH

rhubarbhandsoap · 23/09/2024 16:31

If anyone hasn’t done an Ocado order before they do 25% off your first order (up to £20 off) with free delivery for 3 months.

So I ordered £80 worth of M&S stuff (all our Christmas treats, crackers for cheese, chutneys etc) for £60.

I ended up doing a second order with a lot of stuff price matched to our usual groceries, got the elusive tin of Merry Munch Mix, and in the Flash Sale (page before final checkout - it changes so worth looking) I got a side of salmon for £14 instead of £24 so that’s gone in the freezer.

And in case they haven’t reeled me in enough, I’ve now been given a £10 voucher off my third order.

Recommend!

Sainsbury’s had put out all their Halloween bits this morning and it included some Beetlejuice bits (I think one was a cup).

Primark often do bits based on films so may be worth checking in a larger Primark.

Primark had a load of Beetlejuice stuff in last week, I only remember the pyjamas but there was a whole section (and mines not a massive one)
