I feel like this year is going to be my year of terrible cheesy Christmas pun thread titles Xmas Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Any news on Yoto deals yet or if anyone knows when they are likely to start appearing. Thanks!

Black Friday or Prime day at the earliest.

Does anyone know if M&S have the chocolate advent calendars in store yet? I don't want to make the trip if they aren't in yet! X

Yes, I went in this morning, and they were putting them out. They had a Spencer Bear one, a space themed one, Percy Pig, Where's Wally, and the angel that Dawn French plays in the adverts. Looked like there was space for some additional ones, too.

Just to add that this was today and I'm in the NE of England (I see another poster replied saying there were none where they are)

If anyone knows of a bargainous dolls cot that will fit a 43cm doll I would be grateful if you gave me a shout. All the ones I can find are either too small, too expensive or very pink and I’d prefer a neutral, white or blue one.

Right lovely people. I am after a helping hand please.
My DD was born on the 21st December, so I am trying to think of birthday and Xmas ideas (from us but also the entire family).
We have expanded her Linkimal collection (from when Smyths and Amazon had them at £10 & £15 earlier this year) and I've got her some clothes, but any ideas would be most welcome.
She has a 3yr old brother, so some things we already have.
I am thinking about the megabloks pink table and bricks set, but after that, I have no more ideas.
Any ideas are most appreciated and I am seriously starting a list for years to come to make my life easier with all these fab ideas. Xx

The bouncy cow has been a huge hit here too my daughter loved it and was devastated when the dog tried to play with it too popped it
Also the stepping stones from smyths think they are around £25

RainbowZebraWarrior · 20/09/2024 14:59

@Rachey28 just to also add that my store had the advent calendars in a completely different place to where they usually have them this year. (They were next to the Christmas puddings and mince pies when they are usually in the corner next to the chocolate and light up tins)

@Rachey28 they had some in my M&S yesterday a small selection though. So might be that stores are getting them in across the country this week.

@DirtyDensDog I have a £5 off £50 if that helps? Came through just after I used one from @Eggmcmuffin the other day (thank you again egg!)

DirtyDensDog · 20/09/2024 15:12

@random123456 yes please !

Solmum1964 · 20/09/2024 15:13

Been into our big Tesco this morning. Toy selection upstairs is The Entertainer as other people have said.
However, downstairs, where they often have seasonal items, they have a lot of toys half price or less. I think someone had mentioned Bakugan - There was a battle arena for £9.99, supposedly 75% off.
These are just a selection.

Thank you so much @random123456

The item I ordered was exactly £50 so the discount was perfect.

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 20/09/2024 15:35

Thank you to those of you who recommended Matalan for the plastic Costa babychino cups. Collected one today, my son will love it! So again, thank you so much!

Cos1970 · 20/09/2024 15:41

I ordered a Christmas duvet set from Matalan yesterday and they had free delivery with the code DELIVERY if you spent over £20.

I added a present sleigh for £5 to get above £20 and paid £1 extra to get next day delivery. The sleigh came today and it is much bigger than I expected, a bargain at £5 😃

Matalan also have 20% off their homeware (online only)

The Bakugan battle arena is really flimsy. I got it for the same prize on Amazon earlier this year. DS likes it but it’s always coming apart and it doesn’t actually ‘do’ anything

Theraffarian · 20/09/2024 16:25

@OnionBag re Degusta Advent , this was the original £6 off code ADVCEC24 , shout if it doesn’t work though as I posted another one too , so can try and find it again if not .

I think I must be the only person to have not used vinted yet but now might the right time, thanks for the recommendations.

I’m in the NW @TheBers2024 and we have absolutely nothing around here.

Cheshire Oaks?

Any recommendations for insulated water bottle please? 500ml, fully leak proof, must hold temperature for several hours, ideally under £10 but pay more if really good.

TIA

SIGG

MarshmallowsOnToast · 20/09/2024 16:37

A few people have mentioned a bouncy cow toy for a 1yo

Can anyone post a link to which one you'd recommend please?

This sounds ideal but there are a few & I don't want to buy something rubbish.

Thanks! x

Scout2016 · 20/09/2024 16:42

Can anyone remember when Argos do the designafriend offer please? Think it was 20% off on previous years.

user47 · 20/09/2024 16:43

@lonelyghost I got DD a fake on Ali Express and it was pretty good - she did guess but not for ages and she was 18 at the time 😂

Hi,

Not exactly Xmassy, but thought I would share some bargains:

Tumbridge Wells Futon Company has some really nice cushions reduced from £22 to £15, etc. They would make nice pressies. They also had some great deals on x-display furniture. I quite wanted the outdoor rocking chair for £54, but it’s still there if anyone is interested!

Pizza Express: Buy one classic pizza and get another for £1- offer ends 26/9. Me and DH just had a pizza each in the TW restaurant for £15.25. A very lovely bargain lunch, with DDog in attendance as we could eat outside due to nice weather!

wibdib · 20/09/2024 17:03

I've been dipping in and out of the thread so apologies if this has already been posted.

If anyone needs some fun T-shirts, Qwertee.com have got a sale on - all their t-shirts are £7 instead of £11-15 plus postage is reduced too.

DS2 is now 16 and has just hit the sixth form so needs his own clothes and has ended up with lots of these - there are lots of fun geeky ones and they seem to be washing really well too, My favourites are one with a panda sleeping in.a Nike swoosh logo saying 'no, you do it' and one of Schrödinger's cat plotting his revenge. I've stocked up on some for him but also got a couple for DH and DS1.

Delivery can be quite long (up to 3 weeks) but as they are for Christmas, it's not a problem. They occasionally have sales but I can go for months meaning to get some t-shirts and then miss the sale days, or look and they have 2 t-shirts I want reduced but the other 3 are still full price, hence stocking up now.

Plus you can get £2 off for signing up for their emails and another £2 off for signing up for something else that I've forgotten now!

Qwerty21 · 20/09/2024 17:04

I have no idea what I'm going to buy as presents this year so hoping some of you lovely lot will give me great inspo!

What is the sleigh made from? Is it sturdy?

it looks great, thinking of getting some
