I feel like this year is going to be my year of terrible cheesy Christmas pun thread titles Xmas Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

@TiredBoredGay brill thanks.
My niece is into skincare & think she would love this. Interestingly there was a feature on this morning recently about teen skincare & this brand was recommended as being a good one.

Adidas socks from Amazon

£6.30 for 3 pairs

Yellow2024 · 13/09/2024 09:26

Claires has 5 for £10 on their clearance items. Free del over £20 if you join the club. I got a few nail kits and jewellery for my girls stockings, it would even be good to put bits away for friends birthday presents.

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 13/09/2024 09:48

Can't thank you enough @tiredboredgay Those little perfume samples are exactly what I've been looking for for youngest Dd. I thought school blazer pockets were for pens, but apparently not! The Byoma is always a hit with her too. Much appreciated.

EekGoesTheBaby · 13/09/2024 09:49

A small discount, but the Cookeez Toasty Treatz is down to £8 (usually £10).

I was desperate for the Cookeez oven thing last year because I wanted to play with it for DD but couldn't justify the price. This seems like a good compromise. There isn't dough, but it does have the surprise factor and is scented (though not heated).

Lush has a £3 voucher to be used on the app or in store. Voucher appears when you log in to the app. Have to pay delivery this time though

There's a £2 bonus on Top Cashback and 20% cashback on Superdrug today. I just wasted at least an hour on the terrible Superdrug website and ended up spending £70 when all I wanted was a lip gloss 😬

Yalz · 13/09/2024 13:04

The SUPERSECONDS event happens this weekend. It’s where lots of independent makers/craftspeople offer seconds/stuff they want to get rid of at reduced prices. There’s often a discount on their regular stock, too.

The link takes you to the list of makers: clicking on the pictures there takes you to their own websites or Etsy stores. In theory it starts at 10am on Saturday morning, but some sales start today for their subscribers, ie people on their email lists.

Most of the listed things are suitable for presents - jewellery, pictures and so on. There are many substantial discounts although I don’t know how much some of them sell at full price for the rest of the year.

I can't remember who was looking for a double decker bus but the lego one is 25% at amazon

Deal: LEGO City Red Double-Decker Sightseeing Bus Toy, Red Vehicle for 7 Plus Year Old Boys & Girls, Creative Set with 5 Minifigures Including a Baby and Buggy, Birthday Gift Idea 60407 https://amzn.eu/d/9qYgdIU

DP just came back from Asda without the UP Lego house. Apparently they did have some in our store but they sold out immediately as soon as the toy event went live and there is nothing on the system to say they will be getting any more stock :(

We're quite a way from other stores so there's no point wasting fuel trying to track one down as the chances are so slim.

ShangPie · 13/09/2024 13:39

Thanks @Reastie for these threads! They’ve lured me back onto MN after a summer break

@PissedOffNeighbour22 you can try ordering on the Asda website. I looked earlier and it was showing as available and a Star Product. You may be able to do click and collect for cheap postage too (not sure but worth checking!)

Cupofteaandbiscuits · 13/09/2024 13:41

Just a heads up that if you go to the 10 for £10 at Claire’s and are using a screenshot from this thread , they asked for my Claire’s club email address at the till x

Monpetitchoumonpetitepois · 13/09/2024 13:49

I had the up lego as a click and collect at my local asda store, collection was this morning and they cancelled the order. The text and email says I can re book but when I look at the product on the website it now states it is instore only

Monpetitchoumonpetitepois · 13/09/2024 13:52

The website also doesn't have a store checker so it really is pot luck. The george site has it but it is still full price

Delia88 · 13/09/2024 13:53

Anyone looking for character chairs for kids, Aldi have kids moon chairs in at £2.99. Amazing value. Didn’t have many left so might be worth a look if you’re passing one. They only had Barbie left at mine.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 13/09/2024 14:04

@ShangPie it wasn't available for click and collect and wasn't able to be added to basket when I checked this morning :(

I remember this being in store at Tesco a few months ago and it was definitely not £50 so I think Asda have inflated the price a bit.

Flubadubba · 13/09/2024 14:23

First day of maternity leave so I had a (very slow) walk around the shops.
M&S outlet shop had 20%off beauty gifting so i got this Apothecary gift set for £10.40 - not as good as the 50% bigger set last year but my MIL will like it.
Body shop outlet did mystery bag for £6 which included 2 bath bombs and a shower gel.

Anyone got an idea for a main gift for 5 year old. She has older siblings so usual toys we already have. Budget £150.

It needs to be good, because I bought her sibling something really amazing, but cannot for the life of me think of a main gift for her.... it doesn't need to hit budget obviously, but needs to look like a main gift to ensure perceived fairness between siblings.
Thanks super people

@JessR26385 slightly random but ds9 had a go on one of these sensory spin seats recently and just loved it, I looked it up as my younger ds (same age as your dd) would go nuts for it. bit more than I wanted to spend though sadly.

Does anyone know when Asda will start selling their Elf pjs this year? (Unless that collab has come to an end?) My kids absolutely loved them last year and the year before, so i want to make sure I get them before they sell out.
