It's a leap year next year, so an extra day to wait!

I've ordered 120 baubles today, as WeRChristmas sent me a 50% code for today only. Annoyingly I could get our new tree way cheaper today! 😭

I'm exhausted now I've finally had time to sit and relax. Tomorrow is a chill day.

Haha Buck I would have liked to see that on my ring doorbell. Not your favourite moment ever I suspect 😂

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 16/04/2024 19:43

It's at least the third time it's happened why. Hearing an empty can bobbling about in the gutter turns me into a gibbering wreck.

Howling gale = bin night 🤷🏻‍♀️

That's the weather / bin law, isn't it, Buck? (I do recall your previous tales of recycling fetching!)

Bin night here tonight. And quite breezy. 😬

I had to pick my blue bins out of the road last week in the blustery weather Buck, but no chasing of rubbish thankfully.

A nice pallendronic symmetry of numbers Xmas Grin
<Easily pleased , me>

No howling gales here thankfully but managed to get a load of white towels hung out .
We're going up to That Larndan on Saturday so hoping it'll be dry .

NoWordForFluffy · 17/04/2024 21:48

We had a good drying day today. We did two loads; one clothes and one of the oversized hoodies, some blankets and onesies.

The - very sad-looking - dogwoods arrived today. We put them in a bucket for a while then put them in the ground with some fish, blood and bone fertiliser. Hopefully they perk up. It's meant to rain tomorrow so they'll catch up with missed water!

My other bulbs and bare roots from Farmer Gracy which are out the front are starting to poke through the ground now. Hopefully it looks nice when they're flowering!

Hard frost here today. Lovely now, apparently chucking it down later. 🙄

The dogwood looks a little happier this morning. They took ages to arrive after dispatch, so it's no surprise they weren't amazingly happy. Hopefully this afternoon's rain will be useful for them!

Sunny day here so I've cleared the wash basket and popped it all on the line.

DH is away again this weekend so I'm home alone. I've got my sister coming for tea tomorrow and a massage booked for Saturday but not much else so I'll be doing a garden centre visit, boring food shop, mooch about in the garden, some walks and cross stitching I think.

My life is very boring right now... Blush

Magnoliasunrise · 18/04/2024 18:27

@NoCheesesForUsMeeces i think that all sounds very lovely and not boring at all

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/04/2024 18:42

I have a week in May without DH (still got the DC here ) booked a week off work .
I aim to faff about , declutter things , see the bottom of the washing basket ...
Watch TV I want to see and win the cats over .
I'll do a food shop , maybe online and cook nice things ,
Might take the DC out for dinner if they're good .

I am completely Rock'n'Roll Me Xmas Grin

Magnoliasunrise · 18/04/2024 19:18

I firmly believe that a bit of faffing about is good for the soul.

I planted some tomatoe seeds in the mini greenhouse so once they get to a decent size I can start them growing in the big plantar .
DH says we have netting but I think its too big , I'll buy a mesh as I don't want to share with any pesky birds .

Shopping (food) , cleaning , (got a wash on now ) and drop DD at work .

NoWordForFluffy · 19/04/2024 07:41

I've never had birds attack my tomatoes, only slugs and rats. 😩😬

My tomato seeds are on the south-facing lounge windowsill together with DS' sunflower seedling. They like it there!

Tomatoes and chillies are in the conservatory here and are finally getting going now.
Sweetcorn is in there too but I've no idea how fast that should grow.

It's freezing here today - I'm working and my fingers are like icicles 🥶

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 19/04/2024 12:26

Also, I only grew tomatoes for the first time last year and the birds completely ignored them - they concentrated all their efforts on my strawberries (which are covered but that didn't stop the magpies from trying to get them).

Does anyone have any knowledge about roses? I was given a lovely rose bush last summer. Planted it out in a planter as directed but there isn't a single rosebud on it right now and some of the new looking growth appears a reddish colour.
I desperately want to keep it going, it's the most expensive plant in my garden (and it was a much appreciated thank you present).

NoWordForFluffy · 20/04/2024 09:53

It'll rattle down to the 100s pretty quickly now too! Xmas Shock

Nice day here today. Lots of washing being done throughout the place!

We have to go and collect new glasses today. DD is getting her first pair and I got a second pair of reading glasses to leave in my work bag, so I don't have to keep remembering to take my home office pair! We have Simply Health with work, so they were free. 🥳

Magnoliasunrise · 20/04/2024 14:49

Afternoon all.

Its bloody freezing here, ended up bringing my seeds in out of the little pop up greenhouse. Did manage to get a couple of washes dry though.

I bought LOADS of pairs of reading glasses from the pound shop and left them all over the house and in coat pockets/bags as I could never seem to find my Boots ones.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 20/04/2024 15:41

Hi folks. The sun has been making the occasional appearance here but it is chilly. It is mine and Mr Why's 28th wedding anniversary today so having a Chinese takeaway which I am looking forward to.

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 20/04/2024 18:58

Happy anniversary why 🥂

I hope your takeaway is good. I've managed to get a line of washing dry but it is definitely a wee bit chilly.

We went on a guided tour - Krays in Whitechapel .
Of course much of it is so different but a lot of the pubs are still there .

We started in the Blind Beggar public house and walked round their patch ( or manor as they'd call it here )

DD and DH are watching "Whitechapel" (again ) , I only watch it 'cos Steve Pemberton (Inside No9 / League of Gents) .is in it
Rupert Penry Jones is very easy on the eye but his character is as irritating AF .

We had breakfast in a cafe beforehand and now resting our poor feet

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2024 10:05

What time did it start, 70?! Must've been up early!

I've walked the mutt and had bacon sarnies on my return. I've also ordered some edging fencing to put round our patch of earth at the front, as next door keep standing on it, trampling the plants I've put in. So I'm doing some passive aggressive fencing to try to keep them off! 🤣

She also drops her fag butts on it, which enrages me. But I don't really want to say much as I don't want to have any ill will. 😬

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/04/2024 11:26

Oooh this was yesterday afternoon Fluffy , it takes me a full day to recover Xmas Grin

The fag ends would make me Xmas Angry , I'd gather them up and tip them in a Pass/Agg heap on their side .

I keep getting rubbish in the front garden from either a skip or someones ransacked recycling bags ( foxes shred them if they're left out )

I usually curse inwardly and put them in my bin , but if the skips get fuller and we get bigger bits of rubbish I;m going to throw them back
A couple of years back we got loads , but there were THREE skips in gardens ( building work) so I don't know where it came from. It just seemed to come to a rest in my driveway .

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2024 11:35

I may well have already taken that approach!

Some came back the other day, but it may have been the wind, as they're still by their garage door this morning!

The fence will be 45cm high, so should stop them from being able to open their car door wide enough to get out and trample the garden at all! I was going to go for something lower, but decided that wouldn't stop them as they'd step over it!

Good morning!

Dry start so far, but forecast to shit down from about 9am (technical term!).

We had a nice dog walk this morning (though all the puddles and pools have dried up, which is disappointing for a Labrador!). Not sure DH's walk later will be as fun! ☔️
