It's a leap year next year, so an extra day to wait!

I've ordered 120 baubles today, as WeRChristmas sent me a 50% code for today only. Annoyingly I could get our new tree way cheaper today! 😭

I'm exhausted now I've finally had time to sit and relax. Tomorrow is a chill day.

Hello everyone.
In this safe space, I can admit I’m feeling festive. I may have listened to a couple of Christmas carols this morning, and have watched Christmas with the Kranks recently. I’m having a stressful time with my teeth/earache/headaches, so listening to them before my dentist appointment helped calm me down.

Sunshine here in the Channel Islands, the beach was busy on Sunday. Hoping I can get through this appointment and it helps solves the pain a bit.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 22/04/2024 15:50

We had a sunny warm weekend but DHs return last night seems to have chased the weather away as it's been grey cold and wet today 🙄

I'll be finishing work soon which is just as well as I used up all my productive before lunch and feel like I need a nap.

I hope your fencing works Fluffy or you may to resort to 'crazy lady' tactics like I have (we're on a route to the local school and I've stopped teen boys and had them pick up the packets they were throwing over my wall) Blush

Morning!

I hope my fencing works too. I'm bloody furious when I look at my poor squashed plant which they've wrecked. It's fucking rude. A) they know it's our land and b) they know there are plants in it. I don't give a shit if they can't get out that side once it's up, she'll have to reverse in and get out the other side. Maybe if they weren't trying to squeeze 2 cars into a 1 car gap, instead of using the garage, it wouldn't be an issue.

Grrrrr. 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Nice day here so far. Washing is out! Office day for me. Makes a change to be dry and not gale force winds!

Morning. The weather is still dire here but I don't mind as we've taken down the blind in the spare room/office to clean it and if it's sunny it can be uncomfortably bright.

Extremely boring day here. Work, walk, got some annoying admin to sort, clean bathroom, cook tea and maybe cross stitch or crochet if I can find the motivation.

Theflowerfieldsofkrakoa · 23/04/2024 10:23

Good morning. I found myself looking at advent calendar‘s online today so I thought I’d better start posting here because it’s a safe space.

Magnoliasunrise · 23/04/2024 18:40

@Theflowerfieldsofkrakoa yes you're definitely okay discussing Advent calendars here!

Sorry to hear about the squashed plants Fluffy I would be livid too. Can you plant something really spiky like a big hawthorn hedge?

Bloody cold here again too - can't believe its nearly May ❄

NoWordForFluffy · 23/04/2024 18:43

Maybe I should put something big and spiky there! I shall consider what to do if the fence doesn't work.

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 23/04/2024 19:28

A nice spiky cotoneaster should do the trick Fluffy. Those buggers are virtually indestructible and look pretty covered in berries in the autumn.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/04/2024 20:41

I've gone for a pyracantha. That'll teach them! 🤣

Magnoliasunrise · 23/04/2024 20:45

Brilliant. She won't be walking over that in a hurry!

belgiumchocolates · 24/04/2024 07:45

Morning everyone, nice to catch up with your updates.

My DD moved house this week , she is now on her own with DGS follwing divorce. First thing we both said is where will you put the Christmas tree. Then I showed her my haul (not insignificant🤔) of decs, baubles and Christmas bargains which made and laugh and cheered her up no end🎅

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/04/2024 21:27

Hope your DD is settling in her new house with the GC belgium
And YY to planning where The Tree goes .
Tomorrow is the April Rudolph Day so when better ?
Xmas Wink

I recycled some clothes this week ( mainly DDs clothes that she had sorted out ) .
Recycled some bedding (not the Christmas/Winter bedding , that is sacred )

I did some kitchen cupboards last month , now the bakeware and saucepan cupboards are calling .
I have a glass lid that I have NO jeffing idea what pan it fits , None that I own Maybe one I had ? But I kept the lid ?

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 25/04/2024 14:16

244 Happy Rudolph Day Xmas Smile

Nature is feeling festive here as it's bloody freezing - I've had the heating on today Shock

70 would your DH have binned a pan and kept the lid?

Where the tree goes is a very important new house question belgium!

No news here except I had my dad here for tea last night and have my mum coming today.
Counting down to the weekend now...

Magnoliasunrise · 25/04/2024 19:20

Happy Rudolph Day too!

I went for a hearing test today - was hoping it would be ear wax but my "mild to moderate" hearing loss is "possibly age related" 😕but also could be a result of dancing too close to the speakers in years gone by. Oh well, it was fun at the time.

I also have random pan lids 70, maybe there's a home for retired pans somewhere?

Are random pan lids related to random Tupperware (other plastic boxes are available!) lids? 🤔

I have loud gig-induced very mild tinnitus, @Magnoliasunrise. My general hearing isn't too bad though, thankfully.

Happy Ruldolph Day. Xmas Grin I've done nothing Christmassy today!

NoWordForFluffy · 25/04/2024 19:24

Sorry about the gif...😬

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/04/2024 22:11

I think I know the Lids original owner it was a huge pan I got from QVC but I think I gave it away or put it in the charity shop. I tried the lid on the biggest frying pan but it sits too low and I have a nice saute pan already so it is surplus .
I'll run it through the dishwasher and recycle it .
Lock&Lock lids here never seem to match up .

Love the reindeer GIF there Fluffy - it is almost Christmas weather here , cold and bleak (and rain) <sigh>

It is nice here <hurrah> so laundry is ready to hang out .
Just dropped DD at work and bought breakfast (Greggs) for the rest of us (DD eats her croissant before it hits the bag )
She says This is your New Tradition , drop me at work and buy breakfast , as I am welded to my traditions , it is nice to make new ones too .

We've had washing out too, 70. We have a load out right now too, getting darked on! 🤣

I like your DD's style. 😄

Where is everyone?!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 28/04/2024 10:08

I am here. In body if not mind 😂

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/04/2024 10:47

I am here - just made a batch of pancakes for late breakfast ( had some bananas to use up before we start the new bunch )
It has tipped it down the last 36 hours , at least I don't need to water the garden <bonus>

I ordered some Lakrids Chocolate Liquorice and if I like it ( and I can see no reason why I wouldn't ) this might be my Christmas Wish Go To ( that and Neidreggers chocolate marzipan)

I found a coat I'd been looking for for ages , I knew I hadn't recycled it , I really liked it - nothing fancy , an H&M heavy cotton parka.
The reciepts in the pocket were Oct 2019 Xmas Shock so it was AWOL for 4 and a half years !

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/04/2024 10:56

I like your DD's style. 😄

DD loves the Dec 1st Boxes ( I used to do Beauty Advents but now she's older the Dec 1st Box makes more sense )

She was wandering about with a tiny Mario Badescu eyecream pot (from a try-me kit) Oh I really like this, it was in my Dec kit and an Olaplex sample that she convinced me to buy her the full size for her Birthday .
She loves the surprises and appreciates the thought and effort ( I start looking in September) and the pyschology of Positive Re-inforcement Xmas Grin

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 28/04/2024 14:00

Where did you find the MIA coat 70?

I'm just home from a night away in London. Went to see a comedian but I have to say, I'm still not a London fan. Not sure why.
I did my very first visit to Liberty and was so disappointed - I'm not sure what I was hoping for but that wasn't it.

Home with a headache (and migraine warning eye twitch) so going to take meds, chill out with a mask on my face and hope that goes away as we have tickets to a theatre thing later 🤕

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/04/2024 14:13

It was under one of DH coats (I'd asked him Are you sure it hasn't got mixed up with yours he said Nope but obviously he Didn't Bloody Look ) Xmas Hmm

What comedian did you see Meeces ?
I'm getting less of a fan of London but that's just Oxford Street (went with DD at Easter for some retail therapy ) as I didn't want to trawl round the M25 . It is a shame how it has changed
Move away from the shopping streets and there are some nicer more interesting bits .
We went to Leicester Square area for the theatre a couple of weeks back , it was mid afternoon but in the evening it is vibrant and busy .

Dark room and painkillers , hopefully you can shift the migrane .
