It's a leap year next year, so an extra day to wait!

I've ordered 120 baubles today, as WeRChristmas sent me a 50% code for today only. Annoyingly I could get our new tree way cheaper today! 😭

I'm exhausted now I've finally had time to sit and relax. Tomorrow is a chill day.

In a couple of weeks we'll be into the two hundreds Xmas Shock
I'm sure it's a sign of old age that the weeks are flying by , though sometimes I'm all That was a long old week by the end of it !

I bought Hot Cross Buns in Tesco- just fruity spicy Tesco Finest ones , none of your chocolate/apple/chilli/cheese/double-triple chocolate chip malarky here .

Washing , cleaning today .
Thinking about putting my jumpers away but that might be a bit ambitious .I might need them in the next few weeks

I believe this deals with the long week / short week issue (this week is one of those!).

I'm with you on the hot cross buns! Traditional only!

Evening all, just checking in for the first time in a couple of weeks. How's everyone doing?

We've been to Ikea and Meadowhall today - bought myself some fancy boots, and a couple more obscure sweets for the girls' Advent calendars. I am in lurve with the boots...they're possibly the most impractical item I own though 🙈 what on Earth do I wear with over the knee, sparkly, heels!?

WreckTangled · 16/02/2024 20:33

’what on Earth do I wear with over the knee, sparkly, heels!?’

Nothing 😉

A Smile Xmas Grin

lucysmam · 16/02/2024 20:53

🤣 I can't just wear a smile in public!

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 16/02/2024 21:39

It’s a new juke we’re considering 70 and I’m almost sure that’s what we’re going to get.

We’re away this weekend for a party for DHs family so we’re both ignoring the jobs that haven’t been done as a way to not kill each other enjoy the weekend.

I have no idea what to wear with the boots lucysmam (aside from Wrecks completely correct answer Grin). I guess a short-ish dress would work?
The boots sound fun either way! Are the heels high?

NoWordForFluffy · 16/02/2024 21:40

I think we need boot photos to assist properly!

Pic of my boots attached 😍 I'm not entirely convinced I'll ever wear them apart from our Eras Tour concert tbh, but I love them 🙈

We're off to town today - dd1 wants tights & dd2 a bag, both Primarni specials but I didn't fancy Meadowhall Primarni yesterday. We'll pop in Bodycare for toiletries too, I seem to have missed a few things off Tesco this week 🙄

They're amazing! 😍 Wreck's suggestion was probably right. 🙈🤣

Meadowhell is never really a fun experience, though I spent a ridiculous amount of time there as a student!

I walked ran the dog 🐕 (7.1k in 55-ish minutes). We're both knackered!

lucysmam · 17/02/2024 10:14

They're fab aren't they! I've been eyeing them up for months & bought some cheap sparkly ones but they're just not the same. I've been prancing about the house in these, with a stupid grin on my face 🤣

Need to extra shorten my Eras dress now mind...and buy cycle shorts to maintain my dignity 🙈

WreckTangled · 17/02/2024 15:44

We’ve got a qashqai and I love it. The inside spec of the juke wasn’t quite on par with the qashqai on the older models and the back isn’t quite roomy enough for us otherwise it would have been a contender. I’ve found all the Nissan’s I’ve had really reliable and economical.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/02/2024 17:31

Qashqai are quite a bit bigger aren't they ?
Usually its just me in the car or me+one passenger . So space wise its ok , and I;m an average 5'5"
On a motorway we ramp it up "Lets put you into Sports Mode there Fred"

I don't like green cars (unlucky) but I did see a beautiful dark teal Juke a couple of years ago which might've swayed me .

WreckTangled · 17/02/2024 17:48

Yes they are and in my old job I had loads of equipment to lug around so needed the boot space. It’s our only car (dh has a van) and dd gets car sick in the back so dh has to go in there as I tend to drive. I may well look at the juke when we get our next one in a few years as the dc will be older and with us less.

I need to get out in the garden and Cut Things Back before it's too late .
I have Dogwood which is beautiful but last year I missed the optimum cutting time as it had leaves on it . It;s really tall now ans just getting leaves ....so it's due a trim.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/02/2024 06:48

I love dogwood, 70!

Does it like your damp garden? I didn't buy one recently as I didn't think it would do very well.

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/02/2024 11:08

It's near the top end of the garden, it's the bottom that tends to flood (though less with the soak away)

I look at gardens round about me and see what likes to grow - we have a clay soil .
We've got dogwood , pyracantha , a pink flowered jasmine all years old
Virginia Creeper or Boston Ivy ( cannot remember which) one in the border , one in a huge pot .

I bought a new forsythia which grows well in our soil (it's going in a pot for a while to get established)

We lost loads of plants 3-4 years back with the heavy rain. They just got waterlogged Sad

NoWordForFluffy · 18/02/2024 11:40

Our lawn is more puddle than grass at the moment. It's really bad. Hopefully our new birch tree will help a bit when it arrives. It's only a dwarf one, but hopefully it's also thirsty! 🤣

Lucysmam the boots are lovely!

I like the qashquai but they're bigger than we need and deal wise, we could get a newer, higher spec/lower mileage juke for the same money.
For once my head may overrule my heart with this one because I'm keeping my old old old car despite it being a money pit. Sigh.

What I really want is a pick up truck but that's just madness as it wouldn't fit on the drive and we don't need it....

I had to good dogwood 70 as I'm rubbish with most plants but that looks lovely.

My daff bulbs that were planted 2 years ago and forgotten about have sprouted up with some lovely flowers and the bulbs I planted in the autumn are coming through too so I finally have some colours outside 🥳

Back from the weekend away. Was good to see the family (DHs family are lovely) but I'm exhausted now.

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 18/02/2024 19:43

We have decorated this weekend as the first step in a kitchen renovation. I was a little undecided about the paint colour at first but it looks lovely after two coats. It's the first part of a series of projects that we are finally getting round to after 6 years in this house - we are sorting out storage issues and upgrading a few bits and bobs.

We had a glorious dogwood in the garden of our last house. The stems were beautiful.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 19/02/2024 10:55

310 Very cloudy and nicely chilly here but I can't enjoy as I've woken with a very tight chest and tickly, annoying throat 🙄🙄

Buck have you made a lovely job-list for your house?
I have a running one that I started the day after we moved in. Unfortunately, most of the things left are big and expensive jobs (extension, redoing the drive, knocking down and rebuilding the mini front extension, replacing front door). A small-ish lottery win would be nice!

I'm in my long meeting soon so will be crocheting a bit as I only need to listen.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 20/02/2024 08:34

309 Hello? Hope everyone is doing ok out there!

WreckTangled · 20/02/2024 08:40

I’m off work today. Going to do some washing and not sure what else. Definitely a quick hoover.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 20/02/2024 10:04

I am off today and psyching myself (and my chronic illness which is being an arse) up for work tomorrow. I am in the office which means a ridiculously early start.

WreckTangled · 20/02/2024 10:16

Dd was supposed to go to school this morning but feels too unwell so you have my sympathy why. As you’re female I’m sure it’s just anxiety and lack of positive thinking (according to every shitty medical professional we’ve come across 😡). Hope you’re getting better care than us! Feeling very fed up about it all at the moment.
