Seems to be a similar thread each year, haven’t seen one yet so thought I would start one. What gift are you most excited about giving? Be it a gift to your dc, family member, partner or friend?

I made a gift for a friend, they will either love it or hat it, it’s kind of my first attempt at taxidermy 🤣 (insect, nothing gory involved), they collect insects specimens so it’s something they won’t be shocked by.

My dd is also getting a keyboard, sadly it’s not from me as by the time she asked for one I had done the shopping so her dad will get the glory when she opens it, but I know she’s going to love it. She has autism and just loves music so much.

Ohhh did you kill the bug yourself?

I didn’t, although I do keep some pet bugs, sadly none died before Christmas (I have preserved a beetle but dd pinched it). I don’t kill anything, huge animal lover.

It’s not so much the present but who I’m giving it to - DM was in hospital until a few days ago & I wasn’t sure she’d be home for Christmas but she is. Will be so nice to see her & DF on Boxing Day.

Taylor Swift tickets for dd. I’ve kept them a secret since July, I am so excited to see her reaction.

Falalalalaa · 23/12/2023 21:31

For my daughter - some personalised butterfly design Air Force 1 trainers. She saw the design on holiday in the summer (fakes) but they didn’t have her size and she was gutted. She talks about them all the time. I found a seller on Etsy and she will be delighted!

My son - a Merlin annual pass. He is obsessed with Alton Towers but we don’t go often because of the cost, so he is going to absolutely love this!

She’s going to explode with excitement. My dd1 managed to get tickets and that’s all I have to hear about. Nothing I get her for Christmas will be as exciting as her Taylor swift tickets (she spent her student loan on).

@Lovemusic82 I really hope so. Her best friend got tickets very easily in the fan presale, and she was desperately hoping to get tickets too. I paid an arm and a leg to get hospitality tickets after seeing it recommended to register directly with the venue after trying and failing in the original ballot. She was so disappointed we weren’t selected in summer and she has absolutely no idea I managed to get them. She really deserves it after the year she’s had too

A photo of Dh when he was a baby with his dad. It’s 55 years old and was very faded, creased and in a terrible state. I took it and got it professionally restored, enlarged, and put in a new frame. Hope Dh loves it.

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 23/12/2023 21:38

For DH & DD - Football tickets for a 3rd round fa cup game. Our team is in the premier league but league matches are sooo expensive - it is early january so not too long to wai
it! Last time we went was 2 years ago.

Cheepcheepcheep · 23/12/2023 21:40

DD is 3 and I’m just excited for her to get her stocking! It’s the first year that she’s ‘getting’ Father Christmas and I think she’s going to lose her mind when she shouts ‘he came!’

Disneyland Paris for my kids. Can't wait to tell them. We leave new year's eve and will be there to see in the new year. I am so excited to see their faces and am so excited to be going myself! I keep getting butterflies and haven't had this feeling for years!

BearSoFair · 23/12/2023 21:43

Stargazing binoculars for DS2. He has no idea and thinks headphones are his 'big' gift but we managed to get both with great Black Friday prices.

baubletits · 23/12/2023 21:43

The Disney enchanted treehouse Lego set for DD.

She has been obsessed with it for months now, watches videos of people on YouTube unboxing it, constantly Google's it. We told her it was far too much money to spend on a Lego set that really isn't very big (£150 full price) but if she wanted it she could save for it.

She has been saving, tracking the price because it gets reduced a lot and has asked for money for Christmas to put towards it. She has also sold lots of her old toys to go towards it and is hoping that after Christmas she will have enough to buy it.

I ended up buying it in the black Friday sales for her main present. I can't wait to see her face when she opens it. And even better, she will have a hefty chunk of money to go towards something else (probably more Lego!)

I booked circus skills classes for DTD, they've been wanting to do them for ages since a holiday camp course. I think they will be super excited. I got little accessories for a physical gift spinning plates, juggling balls etc

DS is going to do a young landrover experience as is super keen on the cars and is finally tall enough.

orangesnapples · 23/12/2023 21:53

My son has ASD and Freddie Mercury got him though a lot. He worships him. And had a special interest in all things retro music.
I got accepted on a great offer for a signed vinyl of bohemian rhapsody. He's going to be blown away.

What a really thoughtful and wonderful gift.
I'm sure he'll love it.
Well done you.

It's a family present, theatre tickets for SIX! the musical. We saw the show as a family last new year's eve, and had a blast, but one of my DC has the sound track on repeat, so I think she'll wet herself.

I've got 3 shows booked, so I'll reveal them in order...Wizard of Oz next week, then Shrek in Feb, then the big one SIX! The 3 DC adore musical theatre, and I've managed to get good discounts by watching for Black Friday deals etc

Imnoonesfool · 23/12/2023 21:58

Olivia Rodrigo tickets for my DD 14
she was gutted when we couldn’t get any in the presale ballot but I actually did manage to get some so I’ve ordered the album on vinyl with the ticket stuck to the cover! I can’t wait to give it to her 😍😍

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 23/12/2023 22:06

It has become tradition that our boys get a crisps selection pack at Christmas. I love putting it together and they love receiving it.

CatalogueOnVinylFlooring · 23/12/2023 22:14

DH an Apple Watch. DS Skibidi Toilet figures. I didn't even know they were a thing til I saw them on Amazon. He's going to be so happy.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 23/12/2023 22:15

The Lol dollhouse. Dd has been asking for it for years and I’ve always put off because it’s expensive and in my eyes plastic tat. But she’s persisted for so long. It’s probably her last chance believing now and she’s hoping so much he can fit it on the sleigh this year. I can’t wait to see her reaction and her excitement.

peachgreen · 23/12/2023 22:15

Gymnastics-obsessed DD is getting a mini trampoline from us and then my partner’s brother offered us a balance beam and parallel bars that his daughter has grown out of so she’s getting a full set. So exciting as she’ll open all her other presents and then we can open the curtains and it will be a big surprise in the back garden.

tickets to see David Tenant in Macbeth in the new year for DH; also slightly a gift for me 😉

SugarCookieMonster · 23/12/2023 22:21

I love these!

DS is 5 and I can’t wait for him to see that Father Christmas got his letter and has brought the Transformer and carrot pen he wanted.

Both sets of grandparents have been gifted a photo of DS I took earlier in the month. We’ve got them other presents but this is from DS to them. It’s DS in his Xmas PJs, lit only by the Christmas tree and opening a present box with another light inside. They came out so well, he looks so happy and angelic in the glow of the tree. They all love family photos so I’m hoping it captures a bit of the magic of Christmas morning (without the chaos of Christmas morning!).
