Thanks @bizzey for the title Xmas Grin

Hope all are well.

@RainbowZebraWarrior ...silly question I know !

But how do the heated hand warmers work ?

Do you just put them inside your gloves ?

I'm not sure, but I'm hoping that yes, they might fit nicely into gloves or pockets. Or just to hold between two hands.

I'm also sort of imagining they might be a bit like a heat pack - so hold against a painful joint etc.

Dolphintrainer · 09/12/2023 19:51

@Herefordeals perhaps an insulated cup with a lip and sip hole, with handle or without, so she can take a warm drink when she goes on her walks? Or a cold drink in summer. I 100% recommend Sho

fishfingersandchipsagain · 09/12/2023 19:51

@Herefordeals whats your budget?

Walking/hiking poles
heated hand warmers
merino hiking socks
heated gilet
nice day-pack (eg osprey)

Another reccomendation for Sho. It also comes in lovely packaging perfect for gifting.

@tealfluff I did manage to get the rainbow bath bombs on offer but when wrapping this week noticed the best before was actually last year, I wonder if that’s why they were reduced although didn’t notice any mention when ordering and why they won’t fulfil if they now have current stock.

nopuppiesallowed · 09/12/2023 20:29

@Herefordeals
Walking poles? Rucksack?

TheSoddingCat · 09/12/2023 20:32

I've either been dire at shopping this year or the bargains have been disappointing. I assume it's the bargains as I remember these threads getting to 24/25 last year and I can't see that happening now, especially as they slow down after Black Friday.

Does anyone know where I could find one of these for less than £45 please? 🤞

@ChubbyChinook thank you so much for the Gardeners Almanac, it’s lovely.
what was the gardening set you also referred to please?

Gardeners Almanac 2024 on a limited time deal on Amazon, reduced to £5.21 from £9.99. Great addition to the gardening kit that was posted recently for MiL.

Gratefully ordered for my mums birthday, thank you x

Herefordeals · 09/12/2023 21:07

Thanks everyone, cashmere socks may be an idea. She already has poles, rucksack etc. the walks she goes are never long enough to need a cup, they are a group activity and usually end at a cafe! Sorry, should have been more accurate.
Ordered the almanac mentioned above as she's a keen gardener but any other ideas welcome. She's so generous and really want to spoil her this year but cannot for the life of me think of anything!

fishfingersandchipsagain · 09/12/2023 21:14

@Herefordeals the ubiquitous Turtledoves wrist warmers? A nice warm scarf? (I seem to have fixated on cold winter walks).

One of those maps for interesting things around the country (I can’t remember what they were called).

Is she’s a gardener, a really premium version of a tool - eg sequiturs

GoatsareGOAT · 09/12/2023 21:16

mum doesn't want "stuff" in general so the nicer versions idea works well, in the past really good walking socks, a carefully chosen book, a bug hotel for the garden, walking books for a local/holiday area, the sweets she prefers, turtle doves gloves & snood, nice tea infuser have all gone down well.

Daimyum · 09/12/2023 21:22

@RainbowZebraWarrior
Have you tested the handwarmers out yet, do they get very hot?
Am asking as I have bought several dif ones off amazon. The ones I've tried so far barely warm up at all. Am used to a good old fashioned hot water bottle for pain relief more than the warmth. Thanks

Flubadubba · 09/12/2023 21:27

@TheSoddingCat Bargains have def been a bit disappointing this year, and the decent ones have required more rooting out than before :(

That said, I was still done a month ago despite relocating in Oct (though I have twitched on a few things..).

lego - would anyone advise the cheapest way to buy the Space coaster? At £95 it’s far out of what I had really budgeted. But despite sending all my family members around every sainsburys near by i didn’t manage to find one and it’s the only toy on the list, so i’m going to have rejig things and find a way to get it. Thanks Hive mind.

It dropped to £64.99 on Amazon a month or so ago, so it would be worth checking regularly in case it price drops again.

Whyisitsodifficult · 09/12/2023 21:32

I would be grateful if anyone has spotted any mens Air Force 1 bargains (if there is such a thing)!

Interesting. That’s probably why, but I’d have appreciated them being honest. I wouldn’t have minded them being out of date as I was going to use them as the DC’s Christmas Eve bath bombs.

Oh a sit-upon was a huge hit for somewhere dry & comfortable to perch on a walk - there are lots but one that folds up small & is insulated. Might work well with an insulated drink carrier of some kind (my vote would be lifeventure)

Help needed! Not strictly Christmas present, however I need to buy for an 18th birthday this month, I would like something she can keep and enjoy.. what brands are popular at the moment across jewellery, bags, toiletries?!

OneFamily · 09/12/2023 21:47

@tealfluff I agree, honesty would for sure have been better, for the price there was always going to be a catch

VeruccaSalty · 09/12/2023 21:56

The handwarmers get pretty hot but take a little while to warm up and are best used inside a pocket. i dont think they would be very good as a heat press.
