A bit of a cliche I know, but my favourite part of Christmas is watching people open their presents and seeing them happy.

Every year I have a "favourite" gift that I've bought that I'm excited about.

There's a few this year but randomly I'm probably most excited about my niece's heatless curlers 😅

What about you?

The Nintendo switch. So I don’t have to play with it when the child doesn’t see me 😂

Hibernatalie · 01/12/2023 20:13

My kids are getting bikes as a complete surprise. Excited for that.

Wanttobeok · 01/12/2023 20:22

Those sound great!

I've just thought of another one actually. My other niece loves writing stories (she's only 8) and I found this pack that comes with sheets for her to write a story and illustrate it, and then you send it back to the company and they send you a proper hard backed book of your own story. Think she will love it

For my own kid it's probably the Taylor Swift hoodie because he's desperate for this particular one, but there's the chance it may not arrive in time for Christmas

That's amazing, are you able to share the link please. I think my 7 year old would love this 🙏🏽

Harry Potter game. DD is going to be very pleased.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 01/12/2023 20:26

The gifts that are a complete surprise! The kids write their lists but sometimes I think there are things they don't even know they want until they open it on Christmas morning! My DS just has his birthday and he let me know the things he really wanted. But the thing that blew him away the most was the thing I bought for him that was a complete surprise!

For Christmas I'm most excited about giving...
Custom hand-painted high-tops to my DD1 (11)
Japanese whiskey for DH - I always buy him a safe, staple favourite but I know nothing about about whiskey so I think he'll be really surprised that I've bought him a really special bottle!

Onceuponaheartache · 01/12/2023 20:27

Dp is a pianist but we have no space for one, found him an amazing full size grand piano keyboard that folds up to the size of a large cereal box. I am so excited to see his face!!!

Dd doesn't know what she wants so have just got her a few bits and qe will have a girl shopping trip after I think

Wanttobeok · 01/12/2023 20:28

@CoffeeChocolateWine I agree with you completely. Most years he gets a couple of things from a list but the rest surprises. There's not many of those this year except obviously he won't know which things from his list he is getting. I wish there were more surprises for him

My DH are late teens/early 20s and I've got them both perfume that will make them happy. One because it's her favourite and expensive and she'd not expect me to pay that much - got a good BF deal and then a discount for signing up to the new site too. And the other because it has been discontinued and she doesn't know I've been able to find it.

Wanttobeok · 01/12/2023 20:32

@MamaMissions I can't copy the link for some reason but if you go to etsy and search write your own storybook it will come up, the shop is called makeitpersonal Ltd

My advice with etsy is always leave stuff in your basket for a couple of days because they nearly always send 10% off discount codes etc through your notifications

Oh and I just remembered. DD struggles with the commercialism of Christmas and feels weird about it. So I got her a really cool charity gift as well. It will make all the other presents better.

Wanttobeok · 01/12/2023 20:33

Some really lovely presents so far ☺

A Barbie House (2022 version) for my daughter who is 5, she has no idea she will get it as she thought it would be too big for Father Christmas's sleigh.

Wanttobeok · 01/12/2023 20:36

@WaitingfortheTardis oh bless her I love that!

Not Christmas presents (haven't bought them yet !) but I gave my adult DS and DD their Dec 1st Boxes today .
In DD's I put nail products (Nails Inc) , showergel , mini skincare , eye-gel patches , hair product, mini perfume, mini eyelash serum and her pyjamas (winter not Christmas) .and a mug
It's a tradition that there's a hand+foot mask set .

DS has underwear , socks, loungewear , some Carbon Theory skincare

And Advent calendars (Cadbury)

Her presents will be a complete Non Surprise as she'll need to choose them (clothes and Levis)

DS got an iPad ( birthday+graduation) he prefers money to save for Christmas .

moveoverhogger · 01/12/2023 21:00

DD really didn't have much on her list this year and definitely has enough 'stuff', so I needed to come up with an idea of a main gift. After lots of online searching I've now booked her a Bear Grylls experience day with indoor skydiving, archery & high ropes. She's quite adventurous so I'm hoping she'll be excited for it.

spuddel · 01/12/2023 21:01

@DrMadelineMaxwell that's a lovely thing to do for them. I remember being over the moon when my dm hunted down an album I wanted in the 80s. It was a very alternative french jazz number and I'd no idea myself how to get it. There it was on Christmas morning, I was so overwhelmed.

bushtailadventures · 01/12/2023 21:16

DGD (8) asked for a Squishmallow beanbag, which doesn't exist. I found a lovely hedgehog beanbag online. I think she will love it and I'm so excited to see her face when she opens it. Fingers crossed it's a suitable substitute.

CoodleMoodle · 01/12/2023 21:21

DD9's trolley full of craft stuff! I think she'll be especially thrilled with her own scissors, sellotape dispenser, stapler and hole punch. And it'll stop her stealing mine.

I was really excited about DS5 opening his big Lego set from us, and then adding the ones DM and PIL have bought as all three all go together... And then yesterday he announced he has too much Lego and doesn't want any more! He's not entirely wrong either, but still. I'm hoping he'll change his mind!

Wanttobeok · 01/12/2023 21:37

@moveoverhogger that sounds amazing!

@CoodleMoodle can you do me a craft trolley?! 😅

Found an out of print railway book for my dad who has been after it for years.
I'm so excited!

BeerGarden · 01/12/2023 21:53

Ds- PlayStation 5. He is such a good boy and never asks for anything, he’s going to be so so happy

DP- tickets to see Bruce Springsteen. He’s has a really rubbish year with family illness/bereavement and I genuinely can’t wait for him to open the tickets!

kikisparks · 01/12/2023 21:58

Probably DD’s tonie box, which I have wanted to get her for ages and DH is most excited about her seeing her get her new bed. That’s her only presents from us (Santa) besides stocking/ books/ jigsaw puzzle.

Vetoncall · 01/12/2023 21:59

For my Mum - flights to London, hotel for 3 nights and tickets to ABBA Voyage in the new year. Obviously I'm going too so I can't wait for the surprise and for the actual weekend away 😄 She has no idea and she's going to be over the moon.
