What advent calendar does your dc have?

If you do them. Are they chocolate or pre filled with something else, picture ones, or do you make up your own? Also do your dc share at all.

This year I made up their advent calendar with small Xmas themed items. They will take it in turns to open a door a day so will each open 8 doors ( 3 dc ). It's cost me around £20 to make up so thinking next year I should do something cheaper.

Sounds lovely. Mine are happy with shop bought chocolate ones, by DM pushes the boat out by getting a Lindt one each for them! I think about £6 each

StillWantingADog · 01/12/2023 08:37

Oh and we once got one of those fancy lego ones for them to share. We nearly had ww3 every morning. Never again.

Ethelswith · 01/12/2023 08:37

DC1 - wine
DC2 - pringles
DC3 - Anthropologie beauty

(I'm hoping DC1 might share. With me, that is!)

idontlikealdi · 01/12/2023 08:38

W7 beauty ones for Dts

CornedBeef451 · 01/12/2023 08:39

A few years ago I crocheted one with little pockets which I fill with small chocolates, sweets and candy canes.

Sometimes they also get bought ones by relatives, I think one year they had 2 chocolate ones, my home made one plus a religious one from Grandma.

The non chocolate one was obviously the least favourite as a picture of Jesus no way compares with a sliver of cheap chocolate.

Monkeybutt1 · 01/12/2023 08:39

We only have DS who is 11 so we all have an advent calendar each and get the same every year. Just the cheap £2 Cadburys ones, we all love them although the chocolate isn't as nice as it used to be.

YourNameGoesHere · 01/12/2023 08:40

A chocolate one here alongside some lovely christmassy happyland which his fabulous aunt brought him secondhand and has split into 24 days so he has something new to add each day.

comedycentral · 01/12/2023 08:40

I've had a mix of fancy lego ones and lovely homemade ones in the past. This year I've got sweets one for teen and the lindt chocolate one with the teddy for smaller one. They seem delighted this morning.

48wheaties · 01/12/2023 08:40

DS Cadbury chocolate one
DD Lindt bear one

We also had the Lego ones one year, but had to splash out on one each, as I couldnt face the arguments!

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 01/12/2023 08:41

My son has a mr men book advent calendar. He’s only 6 months old and I don’t plan to let him have chocolate for quite a while yet, but I wanted to include him in the fun.

comedycentral · 01/12/2023 08:42

My husband got me an alcohol one a few years ago. I ended having a glass of different gin every night in December. It actually followed 7 months of alcohol-free for me as it was just too much haha

smilesup · 01/12/2023 08:44

Dairy milk £1.85 ones. DD was begging for a £6 one. Fuck that! £18 for 3 of them. No way.
We also have a wooden one that we've had for years which you can open each day and have a little decoration in. Sometimes chocolate too if I remembered 😁.

Fridaysgirl17 · 01/12/2023 08:45

Chocolate one each, 6 year old picked both for him & younger brother, both paw patrol & I had ordered a lindt teddy bear one for myself but it was out of stock so they sent a kinder one instead so I'll share with them, they can have a day each as we go. I usually do a book one too we did Peppa pig one year, Disney last year & I was gonna do Bluey this year but I'm a bit late ordering it 🤦🏻‍♀️

angelopal · 01/12/2023 08:46

They have brick ones(non branded Lego) and a chocolate one.

Blessedbethefruitz · 01/12/2023 08:47

I made up a little cardboard house kit, and put 2 little mario figures in each day. The kids (almost 2, almost 5) played with today's for an hour - together - before school. Was so much cheaper than the premade mario one, and that would have been 1 figure a day!

Dorriethelittlewitch · 01/12/2023 08:47

Dc1 - novelmore playmobil
Dc2 - schleich horses

And then they have a shared wooden one with notes, riddles and treasure hunts leading to chocolates.

wherethewildtbingsgo · 01/12/2023 08:49

I (stupidly) started doing my own a couple of years ago. My DC are only little but I have two DC so it can get expensive and stressful having to find things to fill it. Today they had stickers and a chocolate each. Other days I've got things like lip balm, a bath bomb, mini Christmas books, chocolate lolly etc. i actually do enjoy the their excitement so I suppose it's worth it!!

Desolatewardrobe · 01/12/2023 08:50
  1. MatchAttax
  2. Lego Friends
  3. Revolution beauty
SgtJuneAckland · 01/12/2023 08:52

DS has a book one, and MIL bought him a Lego one, which to be honest I think is a bit excessive, he doesn't need two especially at his birthday is fairly close to Christmas so it feels like a lot of stuff over a short period. Also the Lego will just get lost/stolen by the cat and batted under the fridge.
I have the m&s beauty one and DH has a beer one

SutWytTi · 01/12/2023 08:53

Mine got/get a paper one each and we have a family one with pockets where we write something to do each day like 'make mince pies' 'watch Elf' etc.

gotomomo · 01/12/2023 08:54

One has cheese, one has tea and one has popcorn ... all older though

FetchezLaVache · 01/12/2023 08:54

I got this beauty from the charity shop a few years ago and buy a box of Cadbury's Heroes, making it far more expensive than the ready-made Advent calendars I suspect DS would prefer, but it looks very pretty at night.

Love the idea of clues to a chocolate treasure hunt! Might pinch that. Smile

What advent calendar does your dc have?
SutWytTi · 01/12/2023 08:55

Very pretty @FetchezLaVache

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 01/12/2023 08:58

Both DD’s got a chocolate one from MIL weeks ago so I didn’t bother buying another. We have a wooden one you can fill so I’m filling the drawers with a squishy every night as dd1 loves little squishies. Today she got an avacado squishy. It’s a mix of animals, dinosaurs and fruit squishies. She wanted the little shop one but it was £20 and full of tat!

My boys always get a toy one each and a chocolate one. This year is hot wheels and Jurassic park. Newborn has a My First Advent calendar which is book with different black and white pictures to look at daily.
