Morning!

It's the final Rudolph Day of the year! A month today is the big day!

I'm sending DH off to his parents' house with the kids so I can wrap today. I usually fail to be Christmassy on Rudolph Days! 🤣

I haven’t watched anything! We don’t have Netflix atm I need to sort that out.

I’m working today, will hopefully pop to Starbucks as they’re giving a free drink to all NHS workers today. Dd has a blood test really early too (had to book it early due to work) so need to get her up soon. Dr is giving her additional meds to try so fingers crossed…

It’s cold here this morning.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/12/2023 07:17

Ooh, starts with a 1 now. Do you reckon all the 'I can't possibly think about Christmas until it's almost on us' people are starting to ramp up?! I'm half in awe of such people, being relaxed enough about it to leave it late. Only half though! The other half is horrified. Xmas Grin

Bloody freezing here too Wreck. Cold dog walk. He loves it when it's frozen. Lots of different smells! 🐕

I've slept through watched Die Hard and Die Hard 2. That's as far as I've gone! I need to watch more, but we're short on free time, weirdly can't think why.

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 06/12/2023 07:58

I watched an unbelievably cheesy film with DD2 a couple of weeks ago but nothing since. It must be time for Die Hard soon. Maybe Friday 🤔

I'm doing ok with prep but then I'm not moving house, dealing with a stressful job or juggling small children or all three 😉

Decorating will be done at the weekend. I'm doing a bit of wrapping today with a vague deadline of getting it all finished by the end of next week. I'm also going to tackle DS's pit bedroom and see what I can juggle around in the freezers to make sure things are used up properly before I buy more stuff. This will mean I have space to fill with more stuff!

Hopingforno2in2024 · 06/12/2023 08:31

We have done The Grinch and Home Alone 1 & 2. Will do Die Hard closer to the big day. Going to order some more presents today, wrap some more presents and bake for the school Christmas fair.

CrazyBaubles · 06/12/2023 09:35

Fluffy my sister is a 'can't think about it until it's almost here' person and she stresses me out. She picks up a few things at the end of Nov then does one big shopping day mid Dec (for 3 kids)!
She doesn't order anything online then deluded herself that she'll be able to wrap everything in one night Xmas Shock

I've had one Christmassy day where I watched Four Christmases and Miracle on 34th street. Haven't really pushed to watch much else, although I had one of the Netflix CCFs on while I was working the other day (the Lindsay Lohan one).

I have to wrap some presents either tonight or tomorrow as seeing a friend Friday and they're for her dd.
My plan is to write the cards and get them the few I'm posting sent by tomorrow evening.
Then Saturday afternoon I'm taking niece and nephew to the cinema to watch the Grinch and it's DHs works do so I'm going to use that as my wrapping night.
Traditionally I watch Muppets Christmas Carol and Home Alone while I do that so I'll tick a few festive films off the list in one day and hopefully get some actual Christmas spirit Xmas Smile

BiddyPop · 06/12/2023 09:52

Happy St Nicholas Day!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 06/12/2023 10:29

I am at work this morning. I had to chip the car out of the frost which was fun at 7am.

I have watched Polar Express, Elf and Home Alone. I want to watch National Lampoon as it is one of my favourites. I was ahead of schedule with the films but fell behind now.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/12/2023 13:43

Oh, yes. I've watched all of those too, Why. Forgot!

Crazy, your sister's method would send me loopy! 😬

I've confirmed with our broker that the funds are being released tomorrow, so I can relax now (as much as you can just before a house move!). At Christmas.

Morning!

Wet and wild here overnight. Sent the dog bloody loopy, so I've had an awful night's sleep. 😩😭

I'm at the station waiting for a train to the hospital as I have an x-ray and consultant's appointment first thing. I was going to go into the office afterwards, but actually I'll get more time at my desk if I go straight home, so I'm doing that instead. It times right for DH to pick me up at the station when I get back and then I'll work through til 5 once I'm home.

The house is in utter chaos right now. Thank his we complete tomorrow and can shift all the boxes we've been hoarding for weeks. The hall will feel enormous! 🤣🤣

I think I'm bailing on Christmas this year until I go home - thought today was a formality on apartment inspection before signing lease, but lift still not fixed after 2 weeks for 7th floor - just not doable with my lungs. So back to square 1 looking again. 😭

Appledrop · 07/12/2023 11:01

Hope you don't mind my joining in? Son is coming home from uni next week so we are all excited, he's our only child. Hubby and I have started watching some Christmas movies, Polar Express on Tuesday, yesterday it was The Muppets Christmas Carol but had to watch it on DVD since Disney have taken themselves off Sky.....haven't watched an actual dvd in years so are using our son's old Playstation 3 to watch it. Are any of the Die Hards on Sky/Netflix yet? Can't say i've noticed them but thanks for reminding me, they have been our go-to must watch movies since we got together 😍

Haven't started wrapping yet, its on the list as another to do!! Hopefully we'll make a start tomorrow or on the weekend.

WreckTangled · 07/12/2023 11:28

I haven’t started wrapping yet either! I’ll end up doing it all in one go I expect with the ‘help’ of dh… he’s only allowed to help with stockings 😅

NoWordForFluffy · 07/12/2023 13:37

I'm almost done wrapping. Just a few straggler gifts to go plus DH's presents.

The Die Hard films are on Disney. Good job as my box set is packed.

My DS Birthday today Xmas Grin
He's a 'mare to buy presents for and worse having Christmas and Birthday so close (he'll get a lump of coal this year I think Xmas Wink )

DD and going shopping for her presents tomorrow and we'll sample lots of Christmas Fayre ( and coffee)

Then decorations on Saturday , some CCFs and some baking .

ConstantlyCooking · 07/12/2023 19:11

Wreck there is a whole world of free films on iPlayer and ITVX while you're waiting for Netflix plus the free Christmas film channels. I may have investigated this!
Happy birthday 70 junior.
I am having a horrible week at work, so this thread plus wine will get me through to the weekend.
My tree is up and looks good - it just needs the decorations (I wanted to be sure it was dry before adding lights!)

NoWordForFluffy · 07/12/2023 19:36

Happy birthday, 70Junior!

I'm working a half day tomorrow, so we can get the keys for the house. Though we've no idea what time we can get them, annoyingly. Just once our money has cleared.

Sorry you're having a shit week, Constantly.

I saw my shoulder surgeon today. He's very pleased with progress, which is good news. I've been referred for a steroid injection in my wrist to see if it helps my carpal tunnel symptoms. It's partly treatment, partly diagnostic, as if it works, it's definitely carpal tunnel!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 07/12/2023 20:04

Ouch to the injection fluffy.

Happy birthday to your ds 70

Thanks constantly I’ll take a look!

NoWordForFluffy · 07/12/2023 20:22

Do you think it'll hurt, Wreck?! I'd not thought about that. 😬

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 07/12/2023 20:33

I’ve not seen one being performed and I’m assuming it’s much less painful than steroid injections into the joint it just seems a sensitive place! I had steroid injections in my bum before ds and they were horrible

NoWordForFluffy · 07/12/2023 20:41

I had one into my left shoulder years ago. I also had those steroids before DS too. Stingy! 😬

Off out to buy DDs presents today ( wish me luck , I'll get dragged into Urban Outfitters ............) but she's promised I can have a waft round M&S and John Lewis .

WreckTangled · 08/12/2023 08:53

Urban outfitters do blue light discount.

I’m essay writing again this morning then meeting a friend later.

We’ve decided to take the credit from our gas and electric account as we’re a bit strapped for cash. Would usually wait until after winter but needs must… it was all or nothing so I might put a bit back into it when I get it.

CrazyBaubles · 08/12/2023 13:54

I'm on the train on my way out for a festive catch up with my best mate. As per usual, the train was delayed and it is bitter out there. I forgot my gloves - my hands are like ice 🥶

Do you have the keys yet Fluffy?

I'm expecting to be merry later (catch up includes food and wine). It's part of my big push for finding my Christmas spirit. I have red sparkly nails, am wearing Christmas earrings and scarf and have a Christmas Carol playing on Audible (it's a freebie, read by Hugh Grant and it's great) Xmas Smile

Hopingforno2in2024 · 08/12/2023 14:49

Happy keys day @NoWordForFluffy!!

Have an amazing time @CrazyBaubles

Have done some more wrapping. Anyone have ideas for small gifts for an almost 8 year old boy? Struggling with ideas for DS.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/12/2023 14:52

We have the keys! I've cleaned a bit and we put the house number up. We weren't as product as we'd hoped to be though.
