Im uninspired. I love wrapping but can't find any paper I really like this year. Definitely want paper not fabric wraps or gift bags . Anyone got any inspiration or seen anything lovely?

That paper is beautiful, @GettingStuffed !

ManchesterLu · 21/11/2023 22:28

My theme is grab the old rolls of wrapping paper from previous years, use them up, then buy more when it's gone.

I wish I was a good enough adult to have a theme. I dream of themes, but can't be bothered actually having one!

SkaneTos · 21/11/2023 22:32

That is basically my theme too, @ManchesterLu !

I am also super happy that I found a Christmas gift yesterday, that I bought in August and hid too well... I need to send it overseas pretty soon.

I usually do brown parcel paper with nice ribbon. Makes me feel a bit more eco friendly!

Wendyspotatopeeler · 21/11/2023 22:36

16yr old DD just picked up some Lightning Mcqueen Xmas paper when we were last at the shop and has asked me to wrap her gifts in it. It was her favourite Disney film as a kid.

Wendyspotatopeeler · 21/11/2023 22:37

I usually buy loads of gold or silver sparkly paper that can used all year round. I have quit doing the ribbons though.

Lovingangelsinstead · 21/11/2023 22:38

Just whatever I've got left over from last year. If I run out, I'll use gift bags because I have a million of those left over too. 😂

CopperLion · 21/11/2023 22:39

I’m going for matte gold paper with black cloth ribbon. Also have some maroon cloth ribbon. It looks v elegant and I am feeling smug. Didn’t even have to buy anything as it has just accumulated over time and I have enough for all Christmas gifts.

Twilight7777 · 21/11/2023 22:42

Plain parcel wrap, maybe paint stamped, haven’t decided yet, and red and gold ribbon with alternating gold/red tags

SpringIntoChaos · 21/11/2023 22:42

I was today years old when I discovered I was supposed to theme my wrapping 😳

I feel like I've failed as a human 😢

HelebethH · 21/11/2023 22:44

Whistlefish have some nice wrapping paper designs, and they have a good offer on at the moment

DreamingInPhosphorescence · 21/11/2023 22:46

I used to do themes pre-kids, now it’s just leftovers from last year.

Kitkat1523 · 21/11/2023 22:46

wrapping Theme ? 🤣🤣🤣

This! Even if I had a theme though noone would notice. The paper just gets ripped open without being looked at!

Jewelspun · 21/11/2023 22:47

Brown paper.

JobMatch3000 · 21/11/2023 22:48

Oh, I like these threads. Some posters have gorgeous paper finds.
I'm a bit of a traditionalist and I prefer Kraft paper to the glittery foil type.
I tend to buy mine from the RSPB online shop (and my juvenile mind had a little snigger at the British Tits washi tape!)

Sarasara1983 · 21/11/2023 22:49

I bought loads when there was a paper chase shutting down around 5/6 years ago and still have loads left. It was summer but the £5 Christmas rolls were 50p!

so my themes will be a continuation of that last 5 years haha

Screamingabdabz · 21/11/2023 22:50

Aldi had some surprisingly lovely ‘rustic’ type wrapping. I’m using that with red and green parcel twine. I think ‘theme’ is a bit of a stretch though!

Me too. I just got the 3 for 2 Santa and snowflakes ones from Tesco. Outrageous probably 😧

Ponderingwindow · 21/11/2023 22:51

I found paper with jingle bells. I’m adding real jingle bells to all my packages. I haven’t decided on the cards yet, but I will probably do a simple cutout because I want the focus to be the jingle bells.

my favorite year was when all my paper had characters wearing scarves even though the paper was all different. Instead of bows, I cut quick scarves out of fleece and used that to decorate the packages.

NiceViper · 21/11/2023 22:53

My "theme" is, as always, re-using salvaged wrapping from previous years. So eclectic, colourful, celebrational.

I know that might come across as a bit po-faced, but it would be a shame if pretty paper in perfect condition were not re-used.

DelphiniumBlue · 21/11/2023 22:55

My theme is as eco-friendly as I can make it - me and DS2 get quite competitive over it, whilst DH blows the budget and the planet on top quality wrapping paper. DS3 uses whatever is lying around and DS1 doesn't wrap at all. ( All DS are adult).
Last year, DS2 wrapped in smoothed out brown paper recycled from Amazon deliveries and ribbon, and I used a mix of gift bags from my stash, cloth bags and newspaper, tied with the ribbon I've recycled every Christmas for the last 20 years. Only DH cares, so his presents go in a gift bag. I think my Mum would be upset if we used new wrapping paper for her, and SiL and I are quite sentimental about reusing the old favourite gift bags!

Loubelle70 · 21/11/2023 22:57

That's beautiful!!! Im going to get that. Add fake berries and large velvet bow ♥️

smilesup · 21/11/2023 22:59

We have the old wrapping paper from previous presents from the last about 10 years saved up. The kids love seeing the stuff from when they were little. We also use pillow cases for the big pressies which they now also love!
