Im uninspired. I love wrapping but can't find any paper I really like this year. Definitely want paper not fabric wraps or gift bags . Anyone got any inspiration or seen anything lovely?

I use pink, blue & green for my DC.

WH Smith's have some lovely stuff but I have enough from last year so trying to resist buying more.

Everyone else is getting a mixture of sage green, natural beige or white with gold Christmas trees.

I'm doing tissue wrapped gifts in brown paper bags tied with raffia. Simple but sweet.

Oooh can you let me know where she got it from? I have a lightening McQueen obsessed 2 year old

Sure, it was in Lidl in the middle aisle. I had to get some Minions paper for my youngest too so she didn't feel left out.

WinchSparkle80 · 22/11/2023 08:58

Whatever I have from last year, tags from last year plus penguin paper because penguins are my fav… no tags though so it’s an unthemed theme 🤪

Teddybearspicnic3 · 22/11/2023 09:22

@Wendyspotatopeeler Thankyou so much, I'll keep my eyes open for it

BankruptedByBirds · 22/11/2023 11:31

I'm going to use up whatever's left in the wardrobe from last year, but I've also ordered some of this East17 wrapping paper for dh's presents as he loves anything 90s. (AngieBealDesigns on Etsy).

@BankruptedByBirds amazing!! Going to check out her Etsy shop!

crochetmonkey74 · 22/11/2023 13:05

Thanks for all the replies- I can't wait to read through them all. I am normally a recycle re use person, I keep all paper etc but for the first time in about3 years- I have used it all! So this is my first year in a while to buy a full theme- paper, ribbons and tags
I can't decide whether to go stylish and useful like the brown paper idea - as I could keep the roll for birthdays too- or whether to go totally over the top colourful retro

I like this- I do have a dark living room so this would look nice especially with bright ribbons

I usually relish a theme. Last year was brown paper with string and into brown paper gift bags with pine cone type decorations.

This year I'm 8 months pregnant and can't find the inclination to do it properly when I can't sit and do it in the evening with a mulled wine/baileys, so it's red and white stripy paper from pound land for everyone 😂

SpringIntoChaos · 21/11/2023 22:42

I was today years old when I discovered I was supposed to theme my wrapping 😳

I feel like I've failed as a human 😢

noooo you haven't ! I just love gift wrapping- I'd love to do it as a job!

I found paper with jingle bells. I’m adding real jingle bells to all my packages. I haven’t decided on the cards yet, but I will probably do a simple cutout because I want the focus to be the jingle bells.

my favorite year was when all my paper had characters wearing scarves even though the paper was all different. Instead of bows, I cut quick scarves out of fleece and used that to decorate the packages.

This is so cute! I love this idea

@crochetmonkey74 oh I know, I was only joking. Didn't mean to make anyone think I thought they were judgey 😁

Curlymam88 · 22/11/2023 13:15

Candy cane paper for my eldest and red santa paper for my youngest. I feel it needs to be some design in red for it to feel christmassy 🤣

Whilst I don’t do themes as such- I do choose different paper for different people. The kids get different ones- littlest gets gingerbread men somewhere in their pattern as they are ginger! Eldest gets the most babyish as he’s the eldest so now likes that- last year was Spider-Man this year is Disney Cars. Middle girls get a similar theme… this year one has holly and ivy with a sort of sage colour and the other has similar colour but people walking dogs and sledging etc…
Other family- pink penguins for toddler girl, Xmas dinosaurs for young boy… candy canes for grown up female relatives… navy with stars for grown up males…

I have boxes that are wrapped in authentic 1970/80s paper that I bring out as decoration as I love them so much for the nostalgia factor. 1980s Xmas would be a great theme to be able to deck a whole room out in…

It's my dream to have a 1980s Christmas!

I keep scouring Etsy for vintage paper

just because you don't currently have the energy or headspace for it, doesn't mean it's silly or inferior.
If people like it, and it brings them joy. why sneer and bring it down? Just don't engage with the thread

Brown paper with postage stickers I make every year and an elf warehouse checklist sticker. I buy them on eBay.

Different ribbon colours.

I saw this title and it reminded me the other day someone asked me what colour theme my tree was this year! I told her it is my usual colours which are traditional and have accumulated over the years. Tell me - what do people who do a complete theme on their tree do with last year's stuff? Do they sell it on? Do they store? It all sounds very wasteful and commercial - no memories.

A neighbour* once asked me what colour tree we were having that year.
Er, green?
She used to buy a whole new set of decorations each year - blue, purple, etc. And it was always a big tree.
At the time (decades ago) it was news to me that anyone did this - I still wonder what they do with all the previous years’ decs.
*She frequently complained of being hard up!
