I have the following on my list for my just turned 17 year old boy - he won't receive it all but they're ideas under consideration! Would love to see your lists

Theragun (this I have bought already - managed to get one for under £100)

Xbox series X (hoping for another price drop)

iPad - his existing one is 5 years old and used daily

Nike Tech tracksuits / Fred Perry hoodie / Ralph Lauren tracksuit / Nike t shirts / Nike dri fit tracksuits

Fiddle cubes + toys

Home made sweets and crisps hamper

Crimpit

@Bbq1 we got it from Decathlon. Still going strong - ds is about 11st.

Thanks I'll take a look.

I'm not sure why it matters of some people are buying three pairs of trainers? Who says you can't? Some people are wealthy, some aren't and there is always the option to start a thread asking for budget gifts

This thread isn't about budget though. I've bought an X box , a theragun and an iPad. I make no apologies for that because .. my money and I do what I like with it.

I've also bought a bloody crimpit and some theraputty - it's about ideas for everyone I think

To clarify, when I say 'this thread isn't about budget,' I mean it's for all budgets and ideas - big and small

This thread is great, thank you for starting it. Lots of ideas here and lots of different price ranges
I’ve also bought a couple of crimpets, one for home and one for DS at uni.

thaegumathteth · 21/11/2023 22:59

@FelicityGraceSpoon yes but is the reason you can afford all that because you're on commission for crimpets??? 🕵️‍♀️

FelicityGraceSpoon · 21/11/2023 23:32

@thaegumathteth ha! If only I was!

I don't even buy those Warburton thin things that they work best with so not doing very well here

What aftershaves are you getting?

LeRougeEtLeNoir · 22/11/2023 15:30

List for my two ds (19 and 21yo) - both heavily influenced by their respective hobbies
ds1
Running bag (black Friday sale)
head torch
poster
Small tool box
travel plug, crimpy (I know….)

ds2
climbing trousers
flask
waterproof bag
waterproof changing mat
swiss Army knife
travel plug + crimpy

MusicAndPassionWereAlwaysTheFashion · 23/11/2023 12:48

What aftershaves are you getting?

DS no.2 is getting Prada Ocean

In the past I have also bought for my sons, and they were a hit;

Hugo Boss
Dior Savage

MusicAndPassionWereAlwaysTheFashion · 23/11/2023 12:54

I make no apologies for that because .. my money and I do what I like with it.

I agree. Why do people on MN have to suck the life joy out of everything? I've been both broke (brought up on northern estate) and have some spare cash. I don't begrudge anyone anything because I am happy with my own life.

I splash out on Christmas for my DS's. They ask for NOTHING all year round. They are not into clothes, or trainers. They aren't into gaming. They have a phone and some EarPods and they have a hobby which doesn't cost much. They get things when they have outgrown it.

Come Christmas I like to spoil them.

If you don't want to read about someone dropping a grand on their kids, don't click on the thread. I don't click on Gucci Bag threads as I am not buying one. This thread is very worth while as I have seen a few things on here I can buy my boys, including a Crimpit if there are any left.

Missy2007 · 23/11/2023 14:54

Thankyou, he has Savage, which Hugo Boss ones can you recommend?

Blanketpolicy · 24/11/2023 22:07

Crimpits arrived today, look good and well made, quite solid.

The "recipe" book is small but looks nice and has nice pictures, it is more an ideas book than recipe book as it is just a list a fillings with no instructions. More suited for a teen I guess so I'm sure ds will enjoy flicking through it for ideas.

I have been advised by a Young Person that the Stanley ice flip straw cup is The Thing to have this year (to go with your Crimpit) so I've ordered one each for my godson and stepson. They seem pretty practical anyway.

MonikerBing · 25/11/2023 06:38

Have finally caved and started thinking about Christmas presents for my dcs.

So I'm also now awaiting a Crimpet order.....

I want to get my 15 yo ds golf lessons I think.

MuddledMadge · 25/11/2023 16:32

Following for ideas x

thaegumathteth · 25/11/2023 17:43

Ds has asked for polo shirts but doesn't know what kind - are there any that are 'on trend'?

BigBoysDontCry · 25/11/2023 19:15

I'm no use for fashion stuff re polo shirts. Neither of mine care about brands, I used to try to follow them a bit so that DSs "fitted in" but I don't now that they are adults and still don't care. I'm sure someone will be able to pint you in the right direction 😊

Apart from a few things ordered and not yet arrived, I've finished Ds1 (23) the lego character of him is spot on! I've also completed DS2s girlfriend (21). It's just DS2 (22) I've to get for now. He has no suggestions at all.

I've bought him PJs as he always needs those, and a crimpit (😂) and a tamagotchi so far. I can get him a new jumper and a couple of t shirts as again, he always needs those. He is hard on clothes. I can get him some cider and snacks but I'm really lacking anything exciting/interesting. I'm not going mad spending, but he's still a student and the clothes and pjs are things I'd buy for him anyway. Thinking cap on.

GrangeFill · 26/11/2023 07:53

@thaegumathteth I don’t know if this is a trend or just my DC but they both like vintage. Fancy word for used, yeah?

DS got excited to find his local Primark now has a vintage section. Sports brands like Nike he likes from this section, plus Ralph Lauren, which may be good for not too spendy polos?

MusicAndPassionWereAlwaysTheFashion · 26/11/2023 08:28

For a teenage boy I would be looking in Superdry or Crew for a polo top. They are sort of mid range. Lower end, Primark, TK Max, Next and top end Fred Perry, Ted Baker and Ralph Lauren.

thaegumathteth · 26/11/2023 09:22

Thanks all

NormalForNuneaton · 26/11/2023 10:11

I would careful buying brands unless you have an idea of what they like/don't like. For example my DS wouldn't wear some of the ones mentioned like Superdry.

Vintage does seem popular with my DS and DD too, but again it's knowing their style and preferences.

BigBoysDontCry · 26/11/2023 10:17

Unless you know what they like or know what's popular in their group then it's maybe better to try to find non branded or if they are sporty you'd probably be pretty safe with Nike. Where I live Superdry hasn't been popular with young folk for about 10 years and is mostly for middle age men nowadays but I know fashions can vary geographically.

AvengedQuince · 26/11/2023 10:37

Agree about the brands. Mine likes hollister but nothing to do with it being branded, just that it reliably fits and feels how he likes it. He would never wear anything with more than a small logo either.

BigBoysDontCry · 26/11/2023 10:42

I said earlier that DS with sensory issues likes Abercrombie and Fitch, again nothing to do with brands just that the t shirt material is very soft and has no neck label, some he has have no logo at all, just depends what they have in the sale. He has some hollister (linked brand) for similar reasons. I don't think either are teen desirable brands at the moment. I know Carhaart had a moment and I think The North Face might still be "in"?
