I have the following on my list for my just turned 17 year old boy - he won't receive it all but they're ideas under consideration! Would love to see your lists

Theragun (this I have bought already - managed to get one for under £100)

Xbox series X (hoping for another price drop)

iPad - his existing one is 5 years old and used daily

Nike Tech tracksuits / Fred Perry hoodie / Ralph Lauren tracksuit / Nike t shirts / Nike dri fit tracksuits

Fiddle cubes + toys

Home made sweets and crisps hamper

Crimpit

belgiumchocolates · 21/11/2023 07:23

For others that bought crimpits on applepay, did you get an email? I haven't had an email but the amount has come off my credit card. Just wondering if others are the same or I have a problem?

Yes I have had exactly the same thing

MusicAndPassionWereAlwaysTheFashion · 21/11/2023 12:55

Omg, Crimpits look fab.

which one is best, the square one for sandwiches or the wrap one?

uncomfortablydumb53 · 21/11/2023 12:56

I also second/ third the fact that some things are expensive and some are cheap
Nothing to say you have to buy anything!
For example I am on ESA and full rates of PIP so obviously very low income
I save through the year and start in September always looking for the best prices
I have 3 adult sons who I spend £200 each on plus a couple of friends who get token gifts
It gives me such pleasure to treat them all and they are so appreciative
Maybe the " That's expensive" poster would like to share their thoughts?

If DS has a sandwich toaster there isn’t any point in a Crimpit is there? It doesn’t actually cook anything - just crimps yes?

That's what I think. They are obviously v popular are here but do they just pimp up a sandwich?

Yeah, just seals it so you can chuck it a toaster or airfryer. If they have a toastie maker and are happy with it then there is no point.

I bought the govee lamp- very underwhelmed with it though.

I bought DS2 a daylight alarm clock years ago which he still uses and now DS1 has asked for one.
We all like Ticket to Ride and I've bought DS2 Ticket to Ride London - that's Christmas day game sorted.
Also a raquet bag with separate pocket for trainers.
Need to find some cheap PJs now.

286NeuerNahhhhhhhhmen · 21/11/2023 14:55

Thanks @DaffodilsGrowAnywhere

On the crimpit discussion, I bought the crimpit wrap as thinking it would also be useful to seal cold wraps as lunchtime sandwiches.

Mustardoo · 21/11/2023 15:00

We have a newish poker set which my 17 year old loves playing with his friends - could be an idea for some.

Thanks @Sportycustard those guitar spoons have gone straight in my list🎸

My son is a guitar and studies music at college and I am always looking for guitar themed gifts. As a result we have the spoons and most things but this year I've found guitar shaped ice moulds on Amazon.

Hatty65 · 21/11/2023 16:19

@Sportycustard Another thanks from me! I've actually just bought those guitar spoons for my 50 something brother, who is a nightmare to buy for.

FelicityGraceSpoon · 21/11/2023 16:44

@Pippu oh that's a shame you don't like the lamp much! I think it makes a really nice change from the usual led lights tacked around a bedroom - my son currently has it glowing 4 different customised colours that glow from pale to bright and it looks pretty cool!

For those taken aback by the cost of some of the presents on here, you should take a look at the similar thread running for teen/pre-teen girls! No Crimpits or similar in sight on there! It's all about 4 different types of trainers plus airpods plus new iPhone plus Christian Dior lip glosses and other wildly expensive make up items. I am so glad my 13 year old DD is a tomboy and doesn't want any of this - other than just the 1 pair of Nike trainers!! I think some of the suggestions on this thead for our DS's are great and definitely a lot more budget friendly! Just off to buy some Crimpits now!

I'm on ofhbthreads because I have a kid in each category - there are things on there that are cheaper. I don't really see why we need to roll our eyes at people buying for their kids

I can roll my eyes all I like thanks. I was astounded by some of the lists on that thread and if there were cheaper gifts mentioned they were kind of overshadowed by the 3 pairs of different trainers and various premium make up items that were on some lists.

GrangeFill · 21/11/2023 17:41

Ah I don’t like to judge others choices because you never, ever, ever know the backdrop.

Good point about the crimpets being good to stop wrap contents escaping during transport.

Blanketpolicy · 21/11/2023 18:09

Got to love their enthusiasm. Its on it's way! I swither between suspense of giving it a go at Christmas and hoping it is a wrap preparation game changer 🤣 and thinking it will be the next Mr Frosty disappointment!

Just remembered a present ds liked last year - a fitness bar that fits across the top of a doorway. He's always doing pull ups on it and other exercises.

thaegumathteth · 21/11/2023 18:12

Indeed you can roll your eyes all you want @Anjelika but I don't really understand why you're so bitter about what other people spend their own money on.

However there are about 200 posts on the thread you're referring to and ONE person is buying 3 pairs of trainers so perhaps the issue is in fact with your perception rather than people's behaviour.

Ah thank you so much for your observations. I shall certainly bear them in mind and keep my opinions to myself in future.

Eeepsh · 21/11/2023 19:16

I'm loving the ideas, thank you all.

I'm thinking of a Galaxy projector for DS17 but don't want to spend lots in case he doesn't use it - any recommendations for a good, cheap-ish one please?

@Tumerictolly Can I please ask where you got the pull up bar? We bought our son one a couple of years ago and he's only slim and it broke within relatively short time.

Turmerictolly · 21/11/2023 20:03

@Bbq1 we got it from Decathlon. Still going strong - ds is about 11st.
