I have the following on my list for my just turned 17 year old boy - he won't receive it all but they're ideas under consideration! Would love to see your lists

Theragun (this I have bought already - managed to get one for under £100)

Xbox series X (hoping for another price drop)

iPad - his existing one is 5 years old and used daily

Nike Tech tracksuits / Fred Perry hoodie / Ralph Lauren tracksuit / Nike t shirts / Nike dri fit tracksuits

Fiddle cubes + toys

Home made sweets and crisps hamper

I caved and got the crimpits. 😂

As far as budgets are concerned, I have mixed feelings.

I was brought up in proper poverty but my parents always worked and made Christmas special. I never got any big ticket items, but everything I got was chosen with care and loved by me and my siblings.

I think I over compensated when DC were children and teens and have been lucky to be able to spoil them with high cost gadgets etc. I'd never get into debt for presents though. On reflection I didn't need to buy them so much but in fairness they've always been thankful, never greedy and never asked for what they were given.

My best memory is DS2 saying one year that santa was amazing as he never knew what he wanted but when he opened his gifts it was like santa had been in his head and chosen things he never knew he wanted but loved. That made my heart so full. 😊

Anyway, at 23 and 22, they don't really need any big things and they aren't greedy so I get not a lot of ideas from DS2 and nothing from Ds1 at all. DS1 is autistic, DS2 is dyspraxic and probably had undiagnosed ahd. He certainly has an executive functioning disorder. Oftentimes his gifts are replacements for things he's misplaced or broken!

I think I've got plenty for Ds1 and it's added up to £170. Just some sweets and bits for a stocking and he's done. I'll spend a similar amount on DS2 but he's still a student so might need a bit extra. I tend to kit him out in clothes a bit at Christmas and birthdays. He doesn't care about labels so it's generally jeans, t shirts and a jumper or two and underwear. He's quite hard on clothing. DS1 isn't, in facr I had to through away some pants I saw on the airer that must be about 10 years old! They weren't looking their best and no idea how they still fitted 😂

So yes lots of ideas for all budgets but Christmas is definitely a time where the thought counts!

DS 18 - is autistic so hates getting gifts - but he’s getting a few anyway….

A Crimpit (obviously 😂)
Next plain tshirts
New wash bag
Japanese manga/book/graphic novel in Japanese (he loves all things Japan)
STEAM gift voucher
Sushi roller - the plastic tube ones

In case it's of interest, DS1 likes the plain SAF t shirts from Abercrombie and Fitch. Usually bought on sale. They have no label in the neck and are lovely soft cotton which is great for sensory issues. They wash and wear well too.

FelicityGraceSpoon · 19/11/2023 21:58

@AvengedQuince made the price up - can't remember for the life of me what I paid

Lego speed champions car

Rugby ball

I was looking at the optical illusion prisms but I am afeared of burning the house down!

Croc lights, airpod cleaner and trainer cleaners all now on my list.

I've got 3 teenage boys and usually end up getting face masks, gloves, nail clippers and tweezers every year.

The year they each (and my 50 year old brother) got a box of 48 Freddos has gone down in legend. Unfortunately Costco don't do them anymore but someone must.

Mine are older and their stockings are small pillowcase sized sacks which I've found cheaper to fill than actual stockings. So far I've got ordered:

Pyjamas (Sainsburys with 25% off)
Boxers/Trunks (Just Wears seam free - expensive but struggled to find seam free underwear)
Toiletry sets (Bulldog/Nivea Ultimate bought with Nectar/Clubcard prices)
Hive game recommended on an earlier thread
Shin Liners/Cycling socks
Book/Calendar

Still to get:
Socks - Christmas family tradition
Chocolate - probably a selection box but need to check how much room is left
Beer? - last year I found a single bottle of Christmas beer in a tube but not seen them so far this year.

Have also just ordered crimpets!

I think that will come in around £125 each and then they usually get £100 towards something they want. Last year it was towards trainers for one and hockey shoes for they other.

I did wonder if my ds' disinterest in presents was an autistic thing. He really dislikes the "fuss" of christmas so we try to keep it pretty low key and he will often get his presents early if he is with his dad's family for christmas day. Good to have the suspicions confirmed as not outlandish. Hope your ds enjoys his gifts

NormalForNuneaton · 20/11/2023 06:37

Seeing beer mentioned I bought a single can of a Christmas beer from Home Bargains.

It probably won't be that nice being a novelty flavour, bhence just the one can, but worth a try.

Anjelika · 20/11/2023 08:45

For those taken aback by the cost of some of the presents on here, you should take a look at the similar thread running for teen/pre-teen girls! No Crimpits or similar in sight on there! It's all about 4 different types of trainers plus airpods plus new iPhone plus Christian Dior lip glosses and other wildly expensive make up items. I am so glad my 13 year old DD is a tomboy and doesn't want any of this - other than just the 1 pair of Nike trainers!! I think some of the suggestions on this thead for our DS's are great and definitely a lot more budget friendly! Just off to buy some Crimpits now!

FelicityGraceSpoon · 20/11/2023 10:55

Glad I held out now for the Xbox. It's price dropped this week so managed to get it for £333.

So with the theragun (bought for a steal!) and a tv (an existing one we bought for ourselves two months ago which is just too big for the room we wanted it to go in but will be perfect on his bedroom wall!) that is one teenage boy well and truly done!

Thanks for all the ideas, have definitely taken advantage of a few!

Another mumsnetter crimpit order here too. 😅at this rate mumsnet should be getting some royalties

CornishGem1975 · 20/11/2023 21:03

Good call @ScarlettDarling My DS loves salt spray but rarely buys it for himself so that's perfect for his stocking!

Sportycustard · 20/11/2023 22:14

Another crimpit BOGOF purchase here. Crimpit HQ must have rumbled us by now🤣. Also got the BOHOF Crimpit recipe book. One for DS who is off to university next September and the other for DD's boyfriend.

DS is off to study music so I bought him these guitar shaped teaspoons. Will hopefully be a talking point in halls:

Guitar Coffee Teaspoons, 7pcs Stainless Steel Musical Coffee Gifts Sets for Man Cute Tea Spoons Set Ice Cream/Dessert/Stirring/Sugar Spoon amzn.eu/d/hBtyPFJ

If anyone is still looking for ideas I find the Wicked Uncle website is a good place to look. Lots of the gifts suit late teen boys I find.

ChishiyaBat · 20/11/2023 22:36

Thanks @Sportycustard those guitar spoons have gone straight in my list🎸
