Thanks @GoatsareGOAT for the title. Luckily, she was referring to the board game peeps!

In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

Please do watch the thread rather than post to mark place to make it easier for everyone to keep up and find relevant info.

Tokyo Laundry also have QUICK as a discount code, I don't know if it stacks with Extra or Extra10 but their flash sale is very bargainous even without a code.

I’m hoping that no question is a stupid question here!

Where does one buy an elf? As in one of those annoying elves that get moved into a new ‘funny’ position every night for 24 bloody days which were never ever going to cross the threshold of my house. Are all elves equal? Are there bargainous elves to be had?

Please help reduce the elf pain!

The original one came with the official book and is Very American. My little people are now big so we had one ten + years ago in the very early days- ours was a hand made one that came with a personalised letter from the lady who made it and arrived “because she was a young elf learning about how the humans celebrate Christmas” not as a creepy spy from santa. She arrived on 1st dec with the advent calendars, did silly things then left Christmas Eve afternoon leaving behind the new pyjamas plus some hot chocolate etc. back into the back of the wardrobe til next year 😂😂. Niece is younger than my kids so when mine got too old she started visiting niece instead which was a nice end to her visits.

Are you sure you want an Elf? Remember an Elf is not just for Christmas but for every sodding December for eternity…

No I do not! But, my 7 year old, who already knows the truth about Santa, is sad every year that we don’t have one. We’re moving house in December, so I figured one could move in with us. It won’t spy on us! It’ll just do some silly things and make everyone happy. I hope!

Keen to avoid the freeky ones, so thanks for the tips on avoiding those 😁

Dee1224 · 17/11/2023 20:13

Thanks for the new thread @Reastie

Code FLASH currently gets 25% off some items on Look Fantastic.

PumpkinSpicedTea · 17/11/2023 20:17

@mummymummymummummum They have the original creepy ones in the Range.

We have a creepy one that was (kindly?) Given to us a few years ago. It literally sits on the shelf and that's it 😂 doesn't Spy or do weird things.

You'll rue the day you bought it...

😳 thank you @Reastie
fame at last 😂

LittleMousewithcloggson · 17/11/2023 20:45

Levi site has up to 50% off and another 10% if you are a member
John Lewis has some great deals on fragrance (but there’s a lot out of stock already)

OneHornedFlyingPurplePeopleEater · 17/11/2023 20:48

I'm also doing the bloody Elf this year. I've refused so far, absolutely hate it and really do not need an extra task each day in December.
But....my eldest is nearly 7, and I guess I have very limited time left for the full magical experience. I've asked her what she wants for Christmas and she isn't really sure, but she really really hopes we have our own elf visit this year. FFS, I'm a sucker.
Unfortunately I'll then have to carry it on for the youngest.

I'd like one of the 'real' ones with the nice book - that sounds better.

ThreeRingCircus · 17/11/2023 20:51

Thanks so much for the Look Fantastic code. More presents purchased......for me 😂.

Hedjwitch · 17/11/2023 20:53

Started on the wrapping today,as am forgetting where things are! Recyclable paper and tape from Etsy. Gift tags from last years Christmas cards. Trying to be as " green" as possible.

Body shop lovers - are their stuff worth the price? Never tried them but always wanted to. Their stuff seems to quite expensive!

I only like their hemp hand cream. They are over priced for what they are but they have some good deals during the run up to Christmas. I was going to get my mum a gift set because she thinks body shop is luxury.

TK Maxx have some body shop gift sets in at the moment, might be worth a look?

Qwerty21 · 17/11/2023 21:04

Try vinted for your elf if you went an official one. If not the works sell them

Hotchocolatemousse · 17/11/2023 21:08

PopcornAndGummyBears · 17/11/2023 21:10

Well… I’m a little disappointed with Amazon. They are indeed offering partial refunds if the price drops post Black Friday, however they will not do the same if an item you ordered 2 days ago has now dropped in price and is £15 cheaper before it’s even been delivered to you! I looked up their policy online and found an article that said they would give partial refunds if the price reduced within 7 days of order, but I wonder if it was an American policy because they were very clear to me that they do not offer “post order price adjustments.” They advised me to reorder the item and then return the original. I can return for free so they will not only lose the money as I will only pay the new lower price, but they will also have the cost of my return, processing the return and sending out the new item (I’m a prime member so no delivery charge for me).

seems a waste of money and resources on their part.

LaundryWoes · 17/11/2023 21:26

Does anyone know where I could get a wooden toy cake that splits into slices for under £10?

They’re also guilty of reducing the price of items immediately after release date, to lower than the pre-order price. Makes pre-ordering pointless but I’m pre-internet late forties old like to think I’m being sensible so always fall for it with tech 🙄

Babynumberthreeee · 17/11/2023 21:32

@LaundryWoes theres this for £11 https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9185366

However its in the 2 for £15 so potential bargain if theres something else you need?

EekGoesTheBaby · 17/11/2023 21:33

Looks like you can get an elf at the Works for just £3, but the price you really pay is your sanity...

absolutely fab effort @Hedjwitch! Well done 👏

The camels say that this rather jazzy record player is at it's lowest ever price. Thought my tween will like it for his bedroom!
