What would you consider nice chocolates to give as gifts that most people like?

What would you love to receive?

I'm thinking Hotel Chocolat, Lindt, Ferraro Rocher and less Quality Streets or Miniature Heroes.

The Chocolate Emporium sells bags of 35 different flavoured Lindt balls, I’d be happy with that 😋
Everything else is a disappointment these days unless you find a local independent chocolate maker. Gareth’s Delights on facebook are amazing, although you don’t get a long date on them as they are fresh.

SeanMean · 15/11/2023 19:28

Hotel Chocolat please!

SiennaMillar · 15/11/2023 19:31

Hotel Choc Tipsy Truffles! Yummmmm

HolidayHolllie · 15/11/2023 19:34

@TherebytheGraceofGodgoI Is Chocolate Emporium an online shop?

I really like Lindt chocolates but I am not a fan of Lindor.

Lindt balls

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 15/11/2023 19:37

I find a lot of the flavoured Hotel Chocolat ones too sweet, but the plain ones are nice. I tried Chococo recently, they looked lovely but I really didn't like the taste of most of them :(

I'm considering getting some Montezumas bars for vegan family members, but haven't tried them personally.

The Highland Chocolatier are nice (not amazing), but very expensive.

I find that good quality, plain chocolate is better than most truffles. I enjoy Lindt and Milka.

I've also looked at Fortnum and Mason bars but haven't tried.

I'd be happy with a Toblerone Grin

hattie43 · 15/11/2023 19:43

Hotel chocolate here . No complaints ever even though I'm not too keen myself

HolidayHolllie · 15/11/2023 19:46

@JustWhatWeDontNeed I like the taste of Chococo and I've seen Costco do them so they were on my list

Part if my dilemma is whether to go for something like that but for £10-15 you get a smaller amount of chocolate and does that seem like an insubstantial gift

Charbonnel and Walker is a favourite

I also like Toblerone

I am curious about Montezumas or whatever it is called but agree with you that I generally like plain chocolate as there are usually many in a selection I don't like.

I tend to try and buy from a local maker, there’s a few local to me and they are amazing. Although they are expensive so you don’t get many.

Talipesmum · 15/11/2023 19:48

Love Chococo. Hotel C are often great but I’ve had the odd box I wasn’t impressed with. Chococo Dorset sea salt caramels are wonderful - I often find that sort of thing too sweet but those are gorgeous.

I really rate the Monty Bojangles truffles - they are simple and delicious and go v quickly. Also M&S Gianduja are great value.

PumpkinSpicedTea · 15/11/2023 19:51

I absolutely adore the Guylian praline seashells.

nocoolnamesleft · 15/11/2023 19:53

I've tried a number of chocolate suppliers, but had feedback that hotelchocolat was the best.

Cookerhood · 15/11/2023 19:55

I've never understood the love for Hotel Chocolat, it seems very waxy to me.

Hibernatalie · 15/11/2023 19:57

M&S Swiss collection
M&S Irish cream truffles
After Eights
Ferraro Roche
Green & Blacks milk chocolate collection
Toffee

BettyOBarley · 15/11/2023 19:57

I love Ferrero Rocher, but only because I'm too tight to buy them at the prices these days!

I find Hotel Chocolat a bit disappointing. The last box I had was completely tasteless.

FoleyHuck · 15/11/2023 19:58

Leonidas are my favourite special treat chocolates, but I just bought a Velvetiser so I'd also be happy with Hotel Chocolat drinking chocolate.

Hibernatalie · 15/11/2023 19:58

That last one should say Tofifee

HolidayHolllie · 15/11/2023 19:58

@Cookerhood what do you like?

@PumpkinSpicedTea I like those too but they've done the rounds in our family so don't feel special enough

I'm not sure I've had Monty Bonjangles either

catin8oots · 15/11/2023 20:02

Lindt balls

Bootoagoose123 · 15/11/2023 20:02

Cocoba!

persisted · 15/11/2023 20:03

Booja booja truffles are delicious.
I'll be upset if Mum doesn't gift me a box at Christmas as is now the rules.

Personally I’d rather be given a box of six really good chocolates than a massive box of Celebrations. It will depend on the recipient though, I’m sure some people feel exactly the opposite!

This shop is local to me, they make everything in house and the quality and flavours are amazing. You can buy online too.
