What would you consider nice chocolates to give as gifts that most people like?

What would you love to receive?

I'm thinking Hotel Chocolat, Lindt, Ferraro Rocher and less Quality Streets or Miniature Heroes.

Marks & Spencer salted caramel pine cones. They’re my husbands absolute favourite and they always sell out before Christmas so I already have 3 packs stashed away

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 15/11/2023 20:09

I love Lindt balls and Lilly O’Briens 😊😊

Leonidas are my favourite special treat chocolates, but I just bought a Velvetiser so I'd also be happy with Hotel Chocolat drinking chocolate.

Oh good god I knew I was missing one. Leonidas are wonderful.

StarDolphins · 15/11/2023 20:14

Lindt balls are my absolute fave.

Hotel Chocolate I find waxy & a bit bland.

GettingStuffed · 15/11/2023 20:14

I've bought my advent calendar fro Marimba, the fact that I could chose the chocolate

You can select them in this box too

Not quite chocolates, but Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without these

I tend to try and buy from a local maker, there’s a few local to me and they are amazing. Although they are expensive so you don’t get many.

Same, but this is dangerous because now we've had proper chocs we don't like high street choc anymore. We only buy at Christmas and Easter because of the price.

I'm so curious and the reviews are very good - so once back in stock I will order.

In terms of chocolate I prefer Lindt. Hotel Chocolat is also good. I used to live in Paris and would get Christmas Chocolates from whichever artisan chocolatier had won the city's annual top chocolate prize that year. Now they were always amazing!

DuckDragon · 15/11/2023 20:22

Lindt balls are gorgeous.
Hotel Chocolat is never as nice as it should be.
I was given a Tony’s Chocolonely selection last year, I truly believe the gifter hates me, as it’s quite possibly the most disgusting overpriced shit I’ve had the misfortune of tasting! So that’s on my don’t get list!

WYorkshireRose · 15/11/2023 20:26

Lindt balls 🤢

Personally love Chococo. They're slightly pricier, but lovely.

Lovemusic82 · 15/11/2023 20:30

I really like Lidls chocolates that they do in bags, a couple years ago they had pistachio ones which were amazing.

Also like hotel chocolates and Monty bojangles (they come in a cute tin).

WhatTheFridge · 15/11/2023 20:38

Godiva - absolute heaven!

Justonedayatatime11 · 15/11/2023 20:55

Anything from Audreys who supply Fortnum and Mason. Especially their coffee creams

I've never understood the love for Hotel Chocolat, it seems very waxy to me.

Agreed. In Chichester the Hotel Chocolate shop is next to Montezuma's. The difference when they give you samples is really pronounced ( and I'm someone that doesn't do brands for the sake of) .

However anything that is one better than they would normally get works. So anyone that eats any old stuff will like Lindt/ Lindor, then Hotel chocolate, then french belguim stuff etc.. People that have nice chocolate normally get givenCharbonnel et Walker .
I got Charbonnel et Walker for my secret Santa once and was seriously impressed. Also got their hot chocolate and it was amazing. Not cheap but yes you can tell its not.

Xmasfairy86 · 15/11/2023 21:04

I don’t like Lindt. I have quite basic chocolate taste 😆😆 I do enjoy the Thornton (I think) dessert box.
whittakers do some nice chocolates as well

Labtastic · 15/11/2023 21:07

Charbonnel Rose and Violet Creams. Just the best

wellerhugs5 · 15/11/2023 21:20

Leonides www.leonidas.com/gb_en
Amazing.

HolidayHolllie · 15/11/2023 21:25

I love Charbonnel & Walker

I really do not like Lily O'Briens

I'd rather have nice chocolates too.

Lots here I haven't heard of but you've reminded me of a local shop I could get something from.

@HolidayHolllie Yes The Chocolate Emporium is an online shop that imports all available flavours of Lindt balls. Biggest bag is 35 flavours and they also do 30 or 25 packs

F&M chocs are lovely, also Prestat.

Rococo have gone really downhill with terrible customer service.

FrillyGoatFluff · 15/11/2023 22:40

Charbonnel et walker sea salt caramel truffles.

I have a box on my Christmas list every year (and birthday, Easter, Mother's Day...)

Cheerfulcharlie · 15/11/2023 22:45

Charbonnel & Walker and a brand called The Chocolatier
