I love the fact that the nn of the person who said this to me is @chocolateisavegetable - very apt!

In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

Please do watch the thread rather than post to mark place to make it easier for everyone to keep up and find relevant info.

The toybox code didn't work on Lego set I wanted. I thought I would get a bargain by using birthday and toybox code.

Daimyum · 16/11/2023 19:56

@Amazonmulu Boots are terrible with deliveries. I have had perfume smashed to bits, and they are rude saying will not replace all stock. Perfume and glass all over £100 of shopping is no joke. They have no way of packing, just throw everything in the box and hope for the best. The customer service
is useless aswell when you try and get refund etc. Hope they refund you

Cocoaone · 16/11/2023 20:00

Another one here whose Boots wax melt burners were smashed to smithereens. Luckily I picked up from the store and had read other's warnings, so I opened the package there and returned for a refund straight away.
No point asking for a replacement as no doubt the same thing will happen, the packaging attempt was shockingly poor. It's frustrating though!

PlanBea · 16/11/2023 20:04

I've just bought The chocolate hamper from Cartwright and Butler, reduced from £70 to £56. I've added 2 hot chocolate stirrers to make it up to £60 for free delivery, and signed up to the mailing list for 10% off so it was £54 delivered! Not the best bargain on the thread but it's sorted out an awkward to buy for relative and I'm now officially done until the next bargain gets posted on here....!

Read their t&c and the toybox codes don't work on Lego. Also the old birthday codes will work until 4th December.

The Grey levi t shirt linked earlier is at £8 again

Can someone tell me why Posca pens are so good? Have DS17 here who's a real doodler - think Keith Haring kind of doodling- are these for that kind of thing?

They're not the only brand of paint pen, but if you've only used regular markers then you will find Posca are: liquid-y, generally opaque, and work well on most solid materials. EG you could draw with a yellow pen on a dark grey stone, compared to a normal fat felt tip which wouldn't show up.
If you're just using regular paper then a benefit of them is you can layer the colours so they don't mix/show through, and they look nice and solid. Great for the KH-style doodles!

I don't think they're the absolute best, but they're also not the most expensive (!), are a reliable brand, and are recognisable ie you probably get cool points for gifting them Grin

Small Running Kit required.

Not actually a Christmas gift but my 13 year old DTs have both begun to show significant Raynaud’s symptoms and as the weather has turned in the last few days they are now struggling with PE at school, as well as Cross Country and Running Club.

Urgently need to buy them gloves and base layers which they can wear under their school sports kit.

Both wear age 13-15 clothes or adults size 6 or XS. Cannot afford to spend loads but need good quality stuff which is thin and unobstructive. (IYKWIM)

I’d go to decathlon for that @PopcornAndGummyBears

Stripedfluffysocks · 16/11/2023 20:15

Ladies who love makeup can I pick your brains.
I’m after a really special eye shadow palette, something with a wow factor but not crazy priced! I don’t do eye shadow so have no clue, it’s for a 50 year old who loves makeup.
I’ve read about Natasha Denota?? Any ideas of which I’ve and where to get it - ideally £40 but slightly more if it’s fab!

Not Urban Decay as her daughter’s have all of them - I’d love to get her something that her girls will think wow 😉

Elpheba · 16/11/2023 20:17

@PopcornAndGummyBears I rate Uniqlo for this sort of stuff. They’ve got different rates of warmth for their thermals and I got my daughter a set for hockey and she said she was super cosy playing in the icy rain the other day!

I’m looking for those chocolate stirrer things with marshmallows in. Where can I find nice ones for adults please, anyone seen any?

I went real life shopping today and saw a nice set in MenKind.
Loads of food related stuff in there actually, along with all the other brilliant but useless gifts.

MrsPottsSpout3 · 16/11/2023 20:19

Thank you to whoever it was that mentioned the dunelm wish tree (think it was thread 1 or 2 so a while ago!). Finally got there to pick up some tags 🎄 🎁

Lovemusic82 · 16/11/2023 20:20

For those wanting Posca pens Shein do a cheaper version that have good reviews. Dd2 was sat next to me a minute ago when I was looking at Posca and declared that she needed some, no way was I paying that price as I have already bought her main present so I ordered the Shein ones. Posca are great if your dc are going to look after them but I know my dd won’t.

PopcornAndGummyBears · 16/11/2023 20:25

No Uniqlo near me unfortunately @Elpheba but DH will be in London next week for work so I can send him to pick some stuff up when he’s there.

In the meantime we do have a Decathlon so can try there tomorrow and hopefully get them stuff to help with running club on Saturday. Thanks @Realfastfoodie

No signs on the toes yet thankfully, but hands are bad. (This was them about an hour after cross country finished today - 30min on a warm train and 10min in the car and they hadn’t improved at all.)

Yes I’ve gotten warmer level skins for my kids to wear underneath uniforms and also decent one from Amazon. That looks so sore!! I’m going to Google to see if there are any other things you could be looking at

cymrumam · 16/11/2023 20:39

I need a gift for a 21 year old guy who I don't know well. Is into ufc likes betting and is doing a masters in law. Doesn't really drink. Any suggestions

Try the kipsta football gloves from decathlon
Dont have to be used for football obviously
They are thin but warm and have a grip palm

LittleMousewithcloggson · 16/11/2023 20:44

There’s some great offers on prodirect sport at the moment. Worth looking for sports clothes there
I’m greedy though. Does anyone know of any further discount codes? I hate paying postage and a further discount would cover it!

HerInfiniteVariety · 16/11/2023 20:49

Bit of a glitch in the Claire’s Black Friday deals.
A couple of items were 1p and the 50% has made them free.
For example, click on the jewellery deals, sort low-high, first six listings are £0.00
🙂

Amimaimia · 16/11/2023 20:51

Lovemusic82 · 16/11/2023 13:28

Has anyone found a good deal on instax (phone printer) or a similar printer? Also any offers on Nike or any other trendy brand joggers for teenagers?

Making my way through my list, still lots to get. I’m hoping Black Friday with throw up some good bargains but based on previous years I doubt there will be anything from my list on offer.

Nike and some other brands on sale on studio, I’ve had joggers for £18 and the label says £56! Took over 2 weeks for delivery though!

Definitely Natasha denona or perhaps dior if there’s one around your budget, best eyeshadows I’ve ever had (apart from becca whom I miss horribly). Dior backstage might be around that.

I don’t like Charlotte tilbury, cheap shiny packaging and cult like sales people.

Alternatively have a look on space nk, they usually have decent quality products in the ranges they stock

My DD has Reynauds. She doesn't do PE at all due to a disability, but I have put in place with school, a rule that she is able to wear fingerless gloves in class. This keeps the hands warm and helps prevent the Reynauds taking hold when they are outdoors at break times etc (her consultant agrees with the prevention approach) I've got them in colours to match her uniform jumper. Cashmere is great, but pricey, but today I've took a punt on the 'non cashmere' Turtle Doves ones from their ebay outlet shop. They are £7.99 so worth a punt.
