I love the fact that the nn of the person who said this to me is @chocolateisavegetable - very apt!

In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

See when Costa do their spend £20 get £5 free offers... can you get 5 £5 cards, or only 1 £25 card?

I don’t know…. If you find out the answer can you let us know? I get costa cards as teacher gifts.

DS has asked for a hoodie that’s fluffy/furry inside (a normal hoodie rather than an Oodie-type thing). Has anybody seen anything like that in age 12 size?

I got this one from Argos for DS recently.

Just posting here as I posted on other thread. For anyone who is gutted they have missed out on the M&S Apothecary 50% off deal, there are loads in store. If you put your postcode in, it will tell you how many are available in stores near you (assuming you have one nearby and can get to it) There are 57 in stock at my local M&S apparently.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 13/11/2023 20:41

@RainbowZebraWarrior Must all be in storage in my local store as apparantly there are 462 in stock here 😂

Does anyone have any experience of Outdoor Toys (www.outdoortoys.com)?
I’ve never heard of them and they aren’t on the cashback sites but offer lots of outdoor play equipment. If anyone has used before, would you recommend?

I've used them in the past, probably about 5/6 years ago to buy an electric vehicle for my daughter. We didn't have any issues.

LemonFrosting · 13/11/2023 20:48

Lots of baylis and harding offers on debenhams as well as cheap jasper conran aftershave and perfume. I've got a set reduced down to £11 in my basket. Thought I'd share on here.....off I go to add more things to my basket!!

@SleepPerChanceToDream @Smileatthesmallthings @NoWordForFluffy
Thank you all, they sound fab, I’ll check them out.

Does anyone know if flik flak watches have a black Friday sale? Dd5 (almost) has asked for a watch but isn't into characters like Disney princesses etc that all the kids watches seem to be aimed at. Flik flak have some lovely ones, but £40 for a watch for a 5 year old is a bit steep for me

Igglepiggleandhisboat · 13/11/2023 20:53

I need a gift idea for a friend. We are only doing under £10 gifts for each other. She lives using a Cricut machine and cocktails! Any ideas? Xx

QOD · 13/11/2023 20:53

Discounts for adult man heelys ? 🛼

LizMay29 · 13/11/2023 20:59

No pressure and no judgement but wondered if anyone would mind sharing (by message probably best!) an idea of how much they spend on their kids? My husband is getting so cross with me but I really don’t think I’m going overboard. I just don’t think he has any idea how much things cost and how quickly it all adds up!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 13/11/2023 21:01

@LizMay29 Unless you're getting your family into debt, why is your husband so cross? Also, does he do any of the present buying at Christmas time, or is it all down to you?

For what it's worth, I spend about £400 on my daughter, but I spread it out and have been buying for months.

gawditswindy · 13/11/2023 21:02

About £80 each. They're 5 and 6 and get gifts from others too.

Clucket87 · 13/11/2023 21:08

@LizMay29 I think it is all relative.
My toddler is probably going to have about £150-£200 but that includes books, clothes etc so not all toys.
My soon to be new born (19th December induction) won't have anything but will have money put in a savings account t once we set it up.
But I also know that those with teens are likely to spend a lot more. A PS5 is £400 if you can get a deal.
And I agree, as long as you're not getting into debt or treating children differently, I don't see the issue.
My husband thinks I spend too much but I shop throughout the year, get a fair few bits in the sale, and keep him updated on a shared list what we have brought people. And I've told him if he doesn't like it, he can do all of it. He soon shut up as he hates shopping/ thinking about Christmas before December!

Could you get her a £10 Hobbycraft voucher? I appreciate it isn’t very exciting, but HC sell loads of materials/accessories for Cricut machines.

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/11/2023 21:15

About £200 per child all in. My husband thinks it's £150 each, I just don't tell him about the extra. They are 7 and very nearly 5.

Ds1 is also due any day but he will get alot less, just a few gifts so the girls don't wonder why santa left him out

Really depends. Last year I spent £100 on my 5 year old becuase I got 90% of his gifts on Vinted. Retail price it would have cost me 300 ish. But I love saving money and getting a deal.

This year he wants a switch so that's 300 like it or lump it so it just depends. I can afford it and I just wouldn't do it if I couldn't

I have a spreadsheet and budget to the penny but mainly becuase im a geek and love to do that.

Regressionprogression · 13/11/2023 21:18

@TheGirlWhoLived I just checked and I paid £26.19 for the ice cream counter on the Prime Day in July. I was desperately price stalking, but looking at three camels it did drop slightly further a couple of days later. Worth waiting definitely.

bizzey · 13/11/2023 21:18

@LemonFrosting ...thanks for the Debenhams mention....
You reminded me that I had my delivery from them this evening...but forgot to open it. 😮🤣🤣!!

I err....think I may have gone a bit overboard on the good deals 🤣🤣

ChristmasIsCome · 13/11/2023 21:18

@LizMay29 there have a number of threads specifically on this issue. You get the outliers who spend less than £50 on second hand gifts and those who spend £1000 on expensive sports gear etc. Most spend between £100 and £250 depending on their financial situation. I have spent the top end of that when there is a big ticket purchase like a games console or bike but normally spend about £100. I never actually tot it up though!

I did have so much in my basket then whittled it down as I'm trying to be a bit more conscious about what I'm buying (as I have no space to store things sadly, but love a bargain) but there are so many good prices on there!!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a breadmaker? No idea what functions are must haves.

Panasonic are the best by quite a way. No need for fancy features.

I don’t know…. If you find out the answer can you let us know? I get costa cards as teacher gifts.

Just all on one card I'm afraid if it's anything like the last few years. They also email the gift card saying £20 even though it has £25 on so the recipient will know you got the £5 free.

I've taken to printing them out and photoshopping the words!
