I love the fact that the nn of the person who said this to me is @chocolateisavegetable - very apt!

In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

Please do watch the thread rather than post to mark place to make it easier for everyone to keep up and find relevant info.

Well that attachment didn't work

Can you attac h a link? I have a huge Sainsbury's near me I could check for you

kkr168 · 13/11/2023 21:28

@LizMay29 Approx £200 each this year but there have been times when its been £500+ each when games consoles/laptops have been requested.
When a ps5 costs £400+ & games £50+ you don't really get much for your money unfortunately.

Lastminutebride · 13/11/2023 21:28

Thanks for the new thread.

Off to check stock levels in my local store for the apothecary set, thanks

I’m looking for the Melissa and Doug ice cream thing for a bit less than 40

Keep watching Amazon, last year it went to about £25

VeruccaSalty · 13/11/2023 21:30

Panasonic was what all the reviews said when i bought our breadmaker about a decade ago. Wish had gone the one that has the little drawer that can drop seeds and fruit in on timer tho!

Spaceracers · 13/11/2023 21:31

Do micro scooter ever do discounts?

Eve · 13/11/2023 21:35

I need some suggestions please

for student DS a couple of years ago I got him some Aldi pants and a hoodie which he loved & wore til they fell apart, then last year I got him greggs T-shirt

I need something for this year? A brand that is an anti-brand sort of thing?

belfastthinking · 13/11/2023 21:39

@Eve McDonald's are doing a collaboration with Crocs from tomorrow. Hamburgler or Grimace Crocs and jibbitz.

There's a Primark Christmas jumper this year too.

No pressure and no judgement but wondered if anyone would mind sharing (by message probably best!) an idea of how much they spend on their kids? My husband is getting so cross with me but I really don’t think I’m going overboard. I just don’t think he has any idea how much things cost and how quickly it all adds up!

I budget £150 per child (to include stocking) and am usually pretty strict with that. I have a spreadsheet and tot up everything I've bought and what it cost so I can see exactly what I've spent.

I wouldn't be comfortable spending more than that to be honest, but they're not yet teenagers wanting games consoles so that may potentially change.

Lurleene · 13/11/2023 21:42

Aldi had a load of Aldi branded clothes instore today.

You won't get a useful answer.

If you have one child, your budget will differ from having four children.
If you earn the national average wage as a single parent with three kids you'll have a disposable income a fraction of two lawyers with an only child.

It's all about context.
(although babies and toddlers have no idea)

Need to pick your brains. I need a new hairdryer but no idea what to go for. I'm losing a fair bit of hair since having long covid, and I don't know if there is a dryer which might be better for that. Any help gratefully received.

I think I've finally managed the photo. Hopefully

Just all on one card I'm afraid if it's anything like the last few years. They also email the gift card saying £20 even though it has £25 on so the recipient will know you got the £5 free.

I've taken to printing them out and photoshopping the words!

Can you get a physical card with the £25 on or is this just an online deal?

The80sThe80s · 13/11/2023 21:54

@Bsgetty have you tried Saltrock for fluffy hoodies

PlanBea · 13/11/2023 21:55

@ChristmasCrumpet it was just e-gift cards last year and the year before I'm pretty sure!

Oh I've got so many to buy still. Problem is, as everyone gets older, it all get harder I find.
I have two questions if anyone has any idea. Firstly my mum would like a fine gold chain to replace one she had a pendant on. I can only think of the obvious ones on the high street- id like to keep it around £50 if poss.
Secondly (and this is typical me spotting things I like instead of Xmas shopping. I fell for these tu pjs. They aren't on the website anymore and the stock checker on Twitter was hopeless. I'm not asking anyone to get them for me, but just asking if they have been spotted in any sainsburys. If they have, it gives me hope that they might still be available.

Try cooksongold, it’s where jewellers buy materials, including finished chains - lots of choice:

For gold chains have a look at https://www.cooksongold.com/ they do finished chains, all different lengths, types and thickness etc. Usually very hard to beat their prices.

@TheHappiestChristmasTree I know, so cute. They were in the Xmas good housekeeping mag so I think that's why they have sold out.
Thanks for gold chain suggestions. Off for a look!

Someaddedsugar · 13/11/2023 22:12

@NaturalBlondeYeahRight they definitely had those in our Sainsburys last week and strangely enough that's what I was going for 😂. If you want to send me a PM I can try and pick you some up - happy to post out for anyone and will be going to the post office after Sainsburys anyway so can take a posting bag with me just in case 😊
