Have I missed the Hallmark/Netflix/ Amazon prime thread on all those cheesy Prince from (insert unlikely name for snowy European country) meets girl from New York films?

Anyone share my guilty pleasure of these so awful they’re good films?

please tell me I’m not the only one here.

Does anyone remember the one where the orphaned siblings return to the family home to sort out the estate before it gets sold? Only for the sister to buy it as it's such a beautiful home? There was an antiques or furniture expert as her love interest. I'd love to see that one again. It was lovely.

I think this one is 'Christmas on Honeysuckle Lane' - IceAndLemonPlease mentioned it a bit earlier- was on Channel 5.

FinallyFinalGirl · 18/11/2023 21:11

Thank you @ThePlantKiller and @Raahh

I can't believe I missed it when it was on today!! The one day I'm out of the house! I will stream it on My5. Thanks again!x

JewelleryCat · 18/11/2023 21:24

I liked the one today with Teri Hatcher (she was in desperate housewives) called Christmas at the Chalet on Channel 5

EwwSprouts · 18/11/2023 21:29

First one I've seen with Teri Hatcher was this week How to fall in love by the holidays. Will have to watch Christmas at the chalet. I loved Desperate Housewives but she will always be Lois Lane first to me.

I just watched Best. Christmas. Ever. on Netflix. It was awful!

Worst. Film. Ever.

With the cast, it should have been better, but the story was poor and didn't make much sense. My dds 9 and 11 both loved it and declared it 'so wholesome!'.

GettingStuffed · 18/11/2023 22:14

I loved Best.Christmas. Ever.

I've notice Haylie Duff in quite a few, she's Hilary's sister. I wonder if they ever get competitive over films.

There's no way Sleepless in Seattle is a Christmas film Sky!

VillageFete · 18/11/2023 22:16

I like the more obscure ones - The ones not covered in snow, with a handsome hunk and adorable child in tow, but a bit less cheesy and have a Christmas message/meaning (Disclaimer - still like the traditional Hallmark type ones very much, as long as they have no Royal/Castle/European connection)

I’m watching one now on Prime called “Angels sing”

Harry Connick Junior is in it. It’s set in Texas. Liking it so far.

There’s another one on Prime that seems similar called “Paper Angels” That I have my eye on.

EwwSprouts · 18/11/2023 22:35

@VillageFete Cracking cast, added to watchlist on Prime.

VillageFete · 18/11/2023 23:05

@EwwSprouts Just finished it, very enjoyable. Well worth a watch!

PawPrintsInMyPansies · 19/11/2023 05:45

Had Holiday in the Wild been mentioned yet? It stars Rob Lowe and Kristen Davis. It has some very cheesy lines, but is a good watch. I think it’s a Netflix Original.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 19/11/2023 07:59

A Gingerbread Christmas is on My5. There's loads on there, actually.

HallmarkGingerbreadWoman · 19/11/2023 08:05

Ooh I'm halfway through A Gingerbread Christmas and it is obviously excellent, as these films all are.

Last year I saw one about a Tiffany's engagement ring - probably called A Tiffany Christmas or something - and that was brilliant too. Shame neither have Queen Lacey, but they're still so soothing.

VillageFete · 19/11/2023 08:33

@HallmarkGingerbreadWoman Huge Lacey Chabert fan over here. I need to get a list of all the festive films she’s done and make sure I tick them off. I watched her in “The Sweetest Christmas” and “Haul out the Holly” this week.

FinallyFinalGirl · 19/11/2023 08:56

This one with Gary Sinise and Joely Richardson is brilliant. It's not the typical fluffy type. It's quite deep and all the better for it.

@FinallyFinalGirl Sounds right up my street! Where do I find it?

IceAndLemonPlease · 19/11/2023 09:10

“Christmas on honeysuckle lane” isn’t on channel 5 for too much longer so be quick !

JennyGracexx · 19/11/2023 09:34

"Let it snow" is a brilliant one. The 2013 hallmark one. There's a few other films that have the same name

HermioneWeasley · 19/11/2023 10:01

I watched “a Christmas inheritance” on Netflix yesterday. Don’t bother.

I’m trying to find “Christmas under wraps” - that’s the one set in the fictional town of Garland, Alaska where she goes there as a doctor and the love interest is actually Santa’s son! It’s bonkers but cute.

Aw no I love A Christmas Inheritance! Its miles better than Netflix's newest offering, Best Christmas Ever, which is a pile o' shite.

I just checked and it's not available in the UK.😭😭

JewelleryCat · 19/11/2023 10:30

If you’re wanting to watch Christmas films on channel 5 today, I’ve just found out that they don’t start until 4.20pm and there’s only two because of a cricket final

burnoutbabe · 19/11/2023 10:41

Noelle was one I enjoyed -Anna Kendrick is Santa's daughter and her elder brother got the job and wasn't great at it (he wanted to design toys not deliver)

It's on Disney.

I don't think there is any Romance in it though!!!!!

HallmarkGingerbreadWoman · 19/11/2023 11:49

@VillageFete I LOVED The Sweetest Christmas! Going to watch Christmas at Castle Hart today, thanks to another poster saying it's on Channel 5! Grin

CUW is one of my all time faves! It was available on Prime until recently but now only seems to be onRakuten TV. There’s a recent-ish sequel which is so bad it’s painful - it was made after CCB departed Hallmark and comes off as a giant FU aimed at her.

Raahh · 19/11/2023 12:24

Ahh, CUW is great . It does the whole - 'I had no idea it would be so cold (in ALASKA!) thing and I didn't pack the right clothes/shoes'

This is a very popular theme in these films Grin. (Despite the fact they all come from New York- where it definitely snows!).

Grin.
