Have I missed the Hallmark/Netflix/ Amazon prime thread on all those cheesy Prince from (insert unlikely name for snowy European country) meets girl from New York films?

Anyone share my guilty pleasure of these so awful they’re good films?

please tell me I’m not the only one here.

Has no one mentioned the Princess switch on Netflix? Just finished and so excited there’s two more 😄

ScreamingIntoMyPillow · 16/11/2023 22:02

Just saw a couple of posts about cheesy Christmas films that made me laugh on my Insta feed and thought I'd share...

I saw ‘Sister swap: Christmas in the City’ and its sister film ‘Sister swap: Christmas in the country’ (I think that one was called!).

They are 2 film each following one sister as they need a break and take over each other’s home responsibilities for Christmas. Each film follows the work and love lives of one sister so you see the bits you missed from the other film. It’s got actress who was the bride from Father of the Bride in it and her real life sister!

What channel? I have those tracked in JustWatch but not showing anything

AndThenTheWolvesCame · 16/11/2023 22:44

@burnoutbabe Christmas 24 on Virgin TV ch 419. They were both on there on Wednesday. I’ve checked the guide and I don’t see them again in November so you might have to check again for December.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it (I did skim but it didn't jump out at me) but Christmas Express on my5? I've got it on while I'm doing some admin and it's glorious!!

AmyandPhilipfan · 17/11/2023 14:50

Just found myself with a couple of unexpected hours to myself so I've just watched 'Next Stop, Christmas,' about a woman who goes back in time ten years and has to change a few things in the past to get back to the future (and actually two actors from those films are in this! Haha!). I highly recommend.

SequinsandStiIettos · 17/11/2023 18:55

screaming thanks for making me smile x

The guardian didn't like this new Netflix one

But I see Amazon free fee has exMas which looks good abs has gossip girl Blair and brother of arrow Robbie amstell . 6.7 on IMDb which is very high for this sort of thing.

In case anyone has Sky and wants to record the awesome 'The Christmas Candle'! Victorian, snowy and genteel with Susan Boyle! 😁

Oh when adding exMas to my Amazon list it suggested merry & gay about an actress becca going back to her hometown for Xmas where she meets back with her ex sweetheart Sam(antha) and their moms meddle.

I shall report back!

Mountaindhew · 17/11/2023 22:48

Can I put a little plea out - if you watched something you liked can you also say on what channel/ streaming service you watched it.

ThePlantKiller · 18/11/2023 09:26

I watched Next Stop, Christmas last night and thought it was great too @AmyandPhilipfan . I tried to get it via Prime but would have had to take out a Hallmark sub for it, I then found it on My5 too, It's available there until 1st Dec IIRC.

Raahh · 18/11/2023 12:00

'Next Stop, Christmas' is on (again) today, on Christmas 24.

For those who like films with dodgy accented Princes Grin- 'Christmas with a Prince' is on Great! Movies later. It's been on a few times- humble children's doctor who somehow end up treating him on her ward over Christmas. The actor who plays the prince is terrible iirc, wooden as a plank. But it passes an hour or two. There are two sequels to this one , as well Grin.

Raahh · 18/11/2023 12:02

Channel 5 has a Lacey Chabert- 'Christmas at Castle Hart' a mistaken identity one where she is an event planner planning a party in a castle in Ireland- where he is 'looking for her roots'.

youngones1 · 18/11/2023 12:17

I'm waiting until my Christmas tree goes up on 3rd!!

IceAndLemonPlease · 18/11/2023 14:25

Reunited at Christmas was last nights watch. Very cheesy and I enjoyed it!
(Channel 5)

IceAndLemonPlease · 18/11/2023 18:01

Finished “Christmas on honeysuckle lane” (channel 5) and enjoyed it. Hot chocolate and cookies were mentioned about ten minutes in !!

CandyLeBonBon · 18/11/2023 18:15

Oh my word I'm loving the case hart one!

FinallyFinalGirl · 18/11/2023 18:59

Does anyone remember the one where the orphaned siblings return to the family home to sort out the estate before it gets sold? Only for the sister to buy it as it's such a beautiful home? There was an antiques or furniture expert as her love interest. I'd love to see that one again. It was lovely.

Sounds familiar, I think My5 might have this one atm.
