Only things we have are mincemeat and Christmas puddings which we buy and put away for a couple of years to improve

BellyDancer124 · 28/10/2023 19:25

Picked up some mulled wine tea and Christmas coffee in Whittards today Grin very excited

ShitChicken · 29/10/2023 05:36

A box of Aldi Florentines and their own brand ferero rocher. The chocolate is fairtrade and so much nicer.

I need to clear out the Christmas cupboard so I can start stockpiling my favourite sesame caramel nuts.

Would also recommend chocolate covered dates from The Datery. Phenomenal.

DilemmaDelilah · 29/10/2023 08:12

I've been to IKEA and bought some gingerbread, spiced ginger biscuits and some weird green marzipan and chocolate things, which we had to eat because I saw too late that they were bb end November. They were very nice!
I haven't bought anything else yet, but I have done a supermarket order for 23rd December which we will probably have to change. We are waiting for my family to confirm what their plans are, and for my further cancer treatment to be confirmed. The first really depends on the second...., but we think it will probably be just a quiet day with lots of tempting nibbly things rather than a full-blown Christmas, so that is what my Christmas order is full of! 😁

DilemmaDelilah · 29/10/2023 08:21

@TheOwlChronicles what's in the frozen Belgian pastries please?

Allthecatsandcosyblankets · 29/10/2023 08:35

I haven't bought anything OP, but I looooove threads like this for ideas! 😁

DelilahBucket · 29/10/2023 08:40

Just drink! Prosecco, Bailey's, M&S Clementine Bucks Fizz, hot chocolate, champagne and some M&S Christmas beer/cider (to test out now of course).

Limer · 29/10/2023 08:56

3 tubes of Pringles, florentines, chocolate coins, stripy candy canes, Aldi white chocolate Baileys and Aldi lime & honey cashews.

Hedjwitch · 29/10/2023 09:03

Nothing yet. Made a Christmas cake.
I'd like to buy the Aldi florentines but cant be trusted not to eat them all.

cakepip · 29/10/2023 09:51

I will start to pick things up now as they go on offer, Baileys is £13 in Sainsbury’s. Need to be careful though as I bought some things early last year and they got cheaper nearer the time, I bought JD on offer at £25 but it ended up going down to £20, I assumed with inflation £25 was the new Christmas offer price, I was wrong!

Dorriethelittlewitch · 29/10/2023 11:06

2 bottles of gin, a packet of fancy cheese biscuits, 2 boxes of orange sweets dipped in chocolate and a load of hot chocolate shapes full of marshmallows for the kids.

Drink the Baileys quickly when it's opened ( do I need to tell you?).
It was a very sad moment when I cleared my DM's cupboards, tried to pour myself a medicinal drink, & the bottle had gone off !

ProvisionsOnTheDock · 20/10/2023 18:36

None, since it's October and the supermarkets remain open until Christmas Eve.
Yes I realise what topic this is thanks.

Thanks for the sanity! I've already got children at school telling me it's nearly Christmas...

AutumnBonfires · 29/10/2023 11:51

A mint chocolate orange that I've already eaten.
I buy the rest of my stuff on Xmas eve when store is nice and quiet.

HoneyButterPopcorn · 29/10/2023 13:56

Terrys chocolate orange mint - these are bloody lovely. NO chance of one bought now lasting until. Christmas

DrunkenKoala · 29/10/2023 15:39

Found a bottle of champagne and jar of mincemeat in the cupboard from last year - we had covid the week before Christmas so never got round to making mince pies and god knows how the champagne got overlooked.

I got a couple of bottles of baileys today as they’re on offer for almost half price in Sainsbury’s with nectar, the offer runs out on the 31st so thought I’d grab them now.

I made my Christmas cake yesterday and will be feeding it cherry brandy between now and Christmas and I’ll also mix a bit of it into the mincemeat and I’ll be using some of the leftover ground almond - planning on doing Mary Berry’s frangipane mince pies.

That’s it for now, but planning on getting choc advent calendars and selection boxes for the kids this week and maybe a tub of heroes/celebrations. I ordered the turkey and ham a few weeks ago (pick up on 23rd).

ChristmasAlmostComplete23 · 29/10/2023 15:46

M&S boxes of
Shortbread
Cookies
Milk chocolate biscuit
Mixed nuts
Vienese biscuits

Heroes x2 tubs
Celebrations x 2 tubs
Toffifee x 2 white boxes
After eights
The paprika cheddars

GettingStuffed · 29/10/2023 19:19

Lamb and Venison, no turkey this year . Crisps, nibbles etc and biscuits

User1789 · 29/10/2023 20:30

Some Jacobs crackers for cheese and a couple cans of craft beer.

TheOwlChronicles · 29/10/2023 21:54

@DilemmaDelilah they are chocolate twists in one bag and pain au chocolat in the other!

OP posts:
DilemmaDelilah · 29/10/2023 22:01

@TheOwlChronicles Nice - but not very exciting (to me). I'm trying to find somewhere that does frozen ready to cook fruit danishes... It must be possible as all the ones the supermarkets sell are done that way, but it seems to be all pain au chocolat, croissants and raisin whirls. 😥

Guiltyfeethavegotnorhythm0 · 29/10/2023 23:15

I love these threads and so interesting what people have managed to stash away compared to us . Then snigger away a week before Christmas at what people have succumbed to eating , then I inevitably fall with sherry and mince pies Blush.
Thinking of buying M&S Gingerbread House this year , is it any good ?

shardash · 29/10/2023 23:29

Christmas pudding from Aldi.

That's it so far.
