Biscuits for Cheese
Twiglets and Cheeselets
Some small chocolate bits and pieces
A few nice soft drinks
Prosecco for Christmas Day

All bought when on offer to save money! And early because these often sell out.

Ohmylovejune · 20/10/2023 19:08

I've ordered the pudding as it's one that gets delivered.

I've decided to do another seafood platter on Christmas Eve and am.waiting to be able to.order it.

My son's started a food and menu list because he knows how to make a spreadsheet we can all share.

I normally do everything last minute so this is quite good for me!

ShowOfHands · 20/10/2023 19:09

I buy a few things each week from September/October or I wouldn't afford it all in one go. I also pay for a hamper from the butchers from Jan onwards. That's all paid for now (turkey, beef, ham, chipolatas, bacon, sausagemeat, pork pie, cranberry sauce).

So far I've bought Schloer, J2Os, M&S Very Merry and Very Jelly Munch, Twiglets, Treeselets, cheese footballs, 3 tins of chocolate, savoury crackers, some lebkuchen and some flavoured hot chocolate (amaretto, hazelnut, vanilla, mint and salted caramel).

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 20/10/2023 19:09

Mince Pies from Greggs and ate 4 while driving along (safely of course). Delicious.

Nikee20 · 20/10/2023 19:12

I was going to buy some Christmas cakes, the best before date was the end of October this year….!!!

travelogue · 20/10/2023 19:13

None but we did try and order a Turkey from our usual butcher who said he doesn't think he can get any this year?!? Now worried about rotten supermarket turkeys as per the news last year so next week's task is to go to a different butcher & hope it's not too late!

Decafflatteplease · 20/10/2023 19:14

I've started buying bits and bobs to put away and spread the cost!

They are you in a high cupboard I cant reach so I don't eat them 😂

So far...
Lebekuchen
Mulled wine x 2 (can be opened any time after Halloween!)
Biscuits for cheese (so crackers 😂)
Cranberry sauce
Chutney for cheese
Mini pies (freezer)
Sticky toffee pudding (freezer)
Pigs in blankets (freezer)
Gingerbread house making kit
Chocolate coins for stockings
Chocolate orange for stockings
Christmas pudding from last year it's fine to eat a year out of date yes?

Think that's all!

Littlegoth · 20/10/2023 19:16

I bought my sprouts today, do you think they'll still be OK in over 2 months time

You mean you haven’t put them on to boil yet? Arghhh Christmas is ruined 😱

Aitchtee · 20/10/2023 19:20

I’ve ordered the Christmas case from laithwaites wine which had a free gin!

blibblibs · 20/10/2023 19:22

Only have the M&S very merry munch tins, red one and green one. Lots of others must have them too because there weren't many left on the shelf when I picked them up a few weeks ago.
Also a slab of Christmas cake and some pretzels.
Going to start on juice and alcohol soon but storage is a bit of an issue.

TheOwlChronicles · 20/10/2023 19:23

I was given some of the merry jelly munch through work but alas, I ate it.

My parents, who we’re staying with for Christmas, have started buying chocolate, crisps and other snacky bits for the cupboard.

I’ve bought nothing yet because we’ll probably scoff it.

ShowOfHands · 20/10/2023 19:30

I bought the Very Merry and Jelly Munches precisely because they have been recommended to me and they sell out before November here. Been trying for a couple of years.

However, I also remembered belatedly that I live a v short drive from the factory which manufactures M&S confectionery and the factory shop sells huge bags of both for £1 each. I considered bulk buying and dealing on the black market.

ActDottie · 20/10/2023 19:31

Nothing so far and probably won’t until December

BeansOnToast32 · 20/10/2023 19:35

1x very big bag of KP Dry Roasted Peanuts.
1x Tin of the Pick and Mix Quality Street from JL made sure I added plenty of Coffee Creams.
2x Bags of Taylor's Boxing Day Curry Crips because they are my favourite.

Nonplusultra · 20/10/2023 19:35

@MackenCheese I’d recommend cherry jaffa cakes with white chocolate, pistachio madeleines, and salted caramel cashew nuts, crispy Lindt balls, salted butter caramels, and my dc love the weird and wonderful haribo options.

Gowlett · 20/10/2023 19:38

The crispy Lindt Balls are lovely!

Gowlett · 20/10/2023 19:39

Been eying up M&S Christmas goodies.
I’ll have to strike before things sell out…

TomatoSandwiches · 20/10/2023 19:45

Bought some nice chocolates from the Highlander and booked our Christmas slots but that's about it for now.
I like the sound of those cherry jaffa cakes though.

Hedjwitch · 20/10/2023 19:45

Nothing yet, apart from the ingredients for the cake which I will make tomorrow

Myhusbandearns150k · 20/10/2023 19:48

I’m trialing buying nothing until 2 weeks before Christmas this year but I’m enjoying living vicariously through this thread 😂

PeopleAreWeird · 20/10/2023 19:50

None. I keep buying for Trick or Treaters and keep eating it

I cant buy food for Christmas 😋🤤

AdoraBell · 20/10/2023 19:51

Mince pies this week. Stashed them away from DH’s beady eyes 👀

LindorDoubleChoc · 20/10/2023 19:59
